The following is a small part of an article found on the website of the COR titled “Does it really need to be kosher certified”.
apushatayidParticipantWhy is LIPA getting involved? Besides, i’m in a PSE&G service area so doesnt concern me.
August 31, 2015 5:33 pm at 5:33 pm in reply to: Letter from Rabbonim that Schools Must Accept Non-Vaccinated Children #1099338apushatayidParticipantSo, this letter from the 3 roshei yeshiva that started this thread. is it real? did ANYONE see it? did any of the roshei yeshiva corroborate the letter? did they acknowledge reading and or signing such a letter? is there a vaccination against gullibility?
apushatayidParticipantthe bigger problem are the side deals that we are now hearing about.
could you imagine if the health department let me inspect my own restaurant, and just foward them the results? me they wont trust that the kugel isnt spoiled, but the iranians they will trust when it comes to their nuclear program.
August 27, 2015 5:23 pm at 5:23 pm in reply to: Letter from Rabbonim that Schools Must Accept Non-Vaccinated Children #1099236apushatayidParticipantRav Sherira Gaon ruled children must be vaccinated? That non vaccinated children may be barred from school? How did this go from an unsubstatiated psak in an unsubstantiated letter to one of the Gaonim issuing a psak on vaccinations? Is it Elul or Adar?
August 27, 2015 2:58 pm at 2:58 pm in reply to: Letter from Rabbonim that Schools Must Accept Non-Vaccinated Children #1099230apushatayidParticipantwhere has this alleged letter (psak) been circulated or printed? some already assert this letter is filled with “junk science” and are talking about it as if it certainly exists. im first cousins with a principal of a rather large beis yackov in brooklyn and she has never heard of such a letter or psak.
August 26, 2015 4:00 pm at 4:00 pm in reply to: Letter from Rabbonim that Schools Must Accept Non-Vaccinated Children #1099207apushatayidParticipantSuch a letter exists?
August 26, 2015 3:56 pm at 3:56 pm in reply to: Asking to taste the girl's cooking before agreeing to a shidduch #1098230apushatayidParticipantUnless the guy is willing to pony up a dvar torah at every meal, who cares if she can cook, it will only be zivchei meisim anyway. Noone ever claimed zivchei meisim tastes good.
apushatayidParticipantgirl is a 4 letter word.
apushatayidParticipantThats the problem. its not your vacation. your job is to ensure the kids who pay to go to camp enjoy their vacation. it is why the camp (supposedly) pays you and parents are expected to tip you. if you want a paid vacation, ask your parents to pay for you to go to camp.
apushatayidParticipant“I think for $3,000 tax free she will stay”
It would certainly cover 3 months of commuting costs even if she would move to lakewood with her husband.
apushatayidParticipant“The public schools in America have no problem with this issues because they use substitute teachers.”
There is one significant difference between the public school system and yeshivas. The yeshivas and their teachers operate according to halacha. This means the yeshiva consults their Rav as does the teacher who may wish to leave during the school year. The public schools operate lihavdil according to local, state and federal laws and the binding contracts signed between the teachers union and school districts as well as the contracts between the members and their unions.
apushatayidParticipant“how long is considered okay/mentchlich for the girl’s side to take before getting back to the shadchan with a yes or no?”
Technically, as long as you feel is necessary. Practically, in todays warped world of shidduchim where the females are “yadam al hatachtona” as quickly as possible. You wouldnt want “the best bachur in the yeshiva” to simply move to the next name on his list, because he can. He (more accurately his mother) can take weeks to “look into” a girl, but chas vshalom his highness (or more accurately, his mother) must wait more than 72 hours for a yes fro a girl!
apushatayidParticipant“Yea, like noticing how other people notice too many things.”
Sometimes you cant help but notice certain things, like the statement “I have noticed a number of frum guys…”. Personally, I’d be hard pressed to say with 100% certainty the hair color of my Rav, those who sit near me in shul or the yid who owns the local grocery. Sure, if he showed up next shabbos with fire truck red hair, I would notice, but only because his choice of color is screaming out loud “look here!”.
apushatayidParticipantI’m waiting for punch line
apushatayidParticipantjust my two cents. people notice too many things about other people.
apushatayidParticipant“It didn’t work.”
Perhaps it’s because Parohs jewelry was real, not costume?
apushatayidParticipantBeiso, zu ishto.
apushatayidParticipantI’m not a posek and can’t speak to halacha and wont. Under the law, employment is “at will”, meaning an employee may leave when they want and employer may let an employee go whenever too.
apushatayidParticipantPlenty of goyim have very short hair too. And not so short hair. And long hair. And very long hair.
apushatayidParticipantEveryone has a point of view here. The school principal (who does not want to be busy hiring staff during the year), the “single girl” who is likely using the job as a placeholder until she gets married and can move with her husband to Lakewood and the parents who wish some semblance of a routine in the classroom for their kids. Each sides perspective probably changes depending on where in the school year we are, how old the students are and the relationship between the teacher and school.
Looking at this from a different angle, I know girls who would drop someone who they felt would encourage them to renege on a committment and I know guys would would stop seeing a girl who would do the same. it says something about a persons character that they would do something like that.
apushatayidParticipantI know of one girls school in brooklyn that makes the girls sign a contract for the school year. The school has no problem accommodating their time off required for chasuna preparations and sheva brachos, however, they do require a one school year commitment.
apushatayidParticipantEven on the moon with a much smaller forces of gravity?
apushatayidParticipantMy opinion. It’s a valid request. Without any context the OP sounds ridiculous.
apushatayidParticipantI thought the chazzan said Ellul not Adar.
apushatayidParticipantIs the trash espoused in this thread natural too?
apushatayidParticipanti dont know about star, but he certainly grabbed the limelight all to himself. I was in the car for most of the debate and kept changing stations, every time I tuned in the debate, he was talking. i am guessing, since he got the most airtime, he was billed as the “star”.
August 10, 2015 7:36 pm at 7:36 pm in reply to: How to act around an older single friend when you get engaged? #1095358apushatayidParticipantmazel tov. call her when you get a mazel tov, share it with her. dont talk about your chosson every waking moment you are with her, but dont not talk about him or wedding preparations either. use your seicehl. she isnt a leper and is aware of what goes on in the world. wishing all klal yisroel besuros tovos.
apushatayidParticipantJust about every girls camp is camp bnos something or another.
apushatayidParticipantPerhaps it’s a euphemism for “chassidish girls camp from somewhere”.
apushatayidParticipantI think this is a politician doing what is needed to protect his base. I’ll believe he is truly against the deal if he loudly and publicly advocates other democrats to vote no as well.
As for this shomer yisroel nonesense, this is getting out of hand. there is only one shomer yisroel and his name isnt chuck.
apushatayidParticipant???? ????? ????
So, you are proposing that when someone parks in a public parking space he/she is making on a kinyan on the spot and when pulls out is making it hefker again?
Does the din of Ani Hamihapech apply if I dont know the Ani is trying to take something?
August 3, 2015 11:33 pm at 11:33 pm in reply to: Is the Outrage Over The Killing of Cecil the Lion Justified? #1154199apushatayidParticipantThe government in Zimbabwe is corrupt. Its citizens are starving and poor. Nobody says a word about this but a lion gets killed, the whole world goes crazy.
August 3, 2015 3:09 pm at 3:09 pm in reply to: Is the Outrage Over The Killing of Cecil the Lion Justified? #1154195apushatayidParticipantHumans shoot and kill other humans multiple times a day and nobody screams. In NYC 50 people were shot in 25 separate incidents over the weekend, and all people are worrying about is a dead lion and that perhaps his brother was shot as well. Its a good thing CNN sent me that breaking news alert that it wasnt Cecils brother Jericho that was shot, otherwise my week would have been ruined. Meanwhile several dozen additional “brothers” were shot by humans over the weekend in NYC and its business as usual!!
apushatayidParticipant“be a good husband, a caring and loving father etc.”
Shmiras einaim (or lack thereof) can positively or negatively influence ones ability to be a good husband/father.
apushatayidParticipantWant to prevent wifi? break the wifi chip.
apushatayidParticipantthis is moving?
apushatayidParticipantdoesnt sound like OP is actually asking a question.
apushatayidParticipantThe only rule should be that each person is evaluated on his own.
apushatayidParticipant“I would have had nothing.”
Are they obligated to provide it for free?
“but i dont understand your negativity.”
Negative? I positively have no issue with someone who makes shiurim available online to ask for a fee. I cant understand why people have a negative view when something they admit is very useful and productive comes with a small fee.
Coffee addict. I dont need youtube, I am perfectly happy with paying a requested fee. Perhaps you should have suggested youtube to the OP.
“But those unable to afford it should be exempted from the fee.”
the site I visited did not have any required donations or fees, only “donate what you wish”. someone could have watched shiurim all day for $1.
Sam. Im wondering why it ISNT muttar. There are costs associated with hosting a shiur as well as costs associated with making it available online. Is charging tuition livne iver on the part of the tuition committe according to you understanding?
apushatayidParticipantfor some people who are bored, unfortunately, they see the shiur as a way to keep entertained and busy. a way to “get through” the day. for those people i say, you want to be entertained dont expect it for free. everyone else appreciates what is involved in preparing for, hosting and delivering a shiur and if a donation is requested, they dont whine about it and in fact are happy to pay.
apushatayidParticipantmy “issue” with some frum advertising is that it uses torah, mitzvos and rabbonim as props.
apushatayidParticipantIn reply to the OP. You can walk into any shul, take a gemara off the shelf and learn the things one may on tisha bav for free. you can do the same at home.
You are talking about being entertained and kept busy on tisha bav, nobody has to do that for free.
apushatayidParticipant“I first need to know whether he is reliable, and whether he reliably implements and enforces his policies.”
Ask him what his policies are, and how he plans to enforce them. It is not difficult to make a general assessment to determine if he adheres to those policies. an easy way is to ask the manager of an establishment “when is the rabbi expected”, if you hear “havent seen him in 2 weeks” you know there is a problem. ask the manager what the rabbi does when he is there. If the hechsher relies on a jewish manager, ask him what his qualifications are and how he knows if there is a problem that needs to be addressed. no foolproof way to determine everything, unless you move into the establishment and observe everything yourself.
apushatayidParticipanti didnt suggest you ask if he is reliable. ask him about his standards. if they work for you great, if not, then not. either way, dont report back. its not my business if he does or does not meet the standards you set for yourself.
apushatayidParticipantI found this info online faster than you typed your “question”
Do your own research and make your own decisions whether you wish to rely on this hechsher.
Instead of your memory and your “sources” why not go straight to the source. No need to report back.

apushatayidParticipantI would be wary of providing info to strangers. I wouldn’t connect with strangers if it gave them access to info you already dont make public in your profile.
apushatayidParticipantJoseph, unlike you I’ve learned a few things since 2011. Including who Rav Meir Goldberg is. Apparently you have not bothered or dont care since you are not interested in an answer to your “question”. You are just looking to stir up machlokes. Shame on you.
apushatayidParticipantBrush up on your sources unauthorized or not. My comprehension is fine. Your ability to hide your silly agendas is not.
July 21, 2015 2:12 am at 2:12 am in reply to: And I'm The One Disrespecting The Davening???!! #1092692apushatayidParticipantPrewar Europe certainly had many fine Jew’s. The majority though we’re not religious.
