Would a single flavor of jolly ranchers have an ou in front or only at ingredients panel. If normally in front and this didn’t have one and you find three ingredient panels 1) What prompted to lookc at panel to begin with if normally don’t do so and 2) why read only one ingredient panel and look for ou there if that is the norm, if there are three panels.
apushatayidParticipantYes but on my smartphone screen the pictures are useless
apushatayidParticipantI did not see the packaging in question so can not and will not say anything about it.
I did read Rabbi Hoffman’s article. In it he state’s the outer packaging state’s there are Kosher and non Kosher items inside. How big or small was this statement? How close to the ingredient panels where there was an ou was this statement? Did people buy this candy in a large non Jewish supermarket such as shop rite or wegmans or in Jewish stores such moishes or season’s or the like?
apushatayidParticipantTrump didn’t to much to distance himself from david Duke on cnn yesterday despite being given multiple chances to do so.

apushatayidParticipantHerrs potato chips (you can take a factory tour and see it for yourself) are sliced potatoes that are seasoned and fried.

apushatayidParticipant“I just assumed”
The cause for most problems. Like Felix Ungar told his friend Oscar Madison. Never assume…. (mods I wont finish it off to save you an editing job).
apushatayidParticipant“our teachers are always telling us that we have to be refined in the street, look refined, no screaming, running, and so on….how talking on the phone makes people look in your direction so it shouldn’t be done.”
Interesting, my Rabbeim always said the same thing. The only thing they didnt talk about was talking on the phone because cell phones were not common in the 80s.
apushatayidParticipantHi Rebbetzin Plonis, I’m Mrs. Cohen mother of Yankie, best bachur in his yeshiva. A former talmida of yours Yenta Baila was suggested as a shidduch. We have heard such wonderful things about her, she has been described as an outstanding girl. What did you say Mrs. Cohen, out standing? Where is she out standing? I have spoken to the girls many times about not standing out anywhere. how quick they are to forget everything we crammed down their throat during their year here. I would run from this girl Mrs Cohen and I will make sure that my name is never used as a reference for that rashanta ever again.
apushatayidParticipantWhat is toothpaste?

For me thats enough of a reason not to. I’m not in the business of second guessing my Rav.

Good question. Will have to ask the Home Depot posek what the sand paper is made from.
apushatayidParticipantWould be a shame to get to the beis din shel maalah after 120 and be asked if you followed the shulchan aruch, and find out you blew it on the 1st line.

apushatayidParticipantIt was.
apushatayidParticipantso, if someone describes a female as outstanding, would that be a negative?
apushatayidParticipantIf you are worried, sand it down and re oil it with mineral oil.
apushatayidParticipantThey can.
apushatayidParticipantPreparing organs for donation have nothing to do with removing organs, or even preparing to do so. The donor body must be kept in a proper state to ensure the organs remain viable, among other things it means ensuring the body is properly hydrated, is oxygenated and so on. (Medical info courtesy of what I understand my med school student neighbor explanation) The article is focusing on the fact that the doctors basically gave up hope and moved into preserve the cadaver for donation mode and that they were wrong in their prognosis. I hardly see any indication of an organ harvesting operation.
apushatayidParticipantI WISH some of the applications we used in the 90s were still commonplace. cc mail beats gmail hands down in my opinion. I cant stand gmail in fact.
apushatayidParticipant“They were making preparations to harvest the organs according to the article. I don’t know exactly what the doctors were doing or at which point they give next of kin the boot.”
Why assume the doctors were doing anything? Perhaps they had discussed organ donation and were taking care of paperwork etc. and while they were discussing this the hand squeeze etc happened?
The impression you give is of a bunch of blood thirsty doctors, scalpels in hand, saliva drooling out of their mouth, just waiting for a chance to start yanking out those organs.
apushatayidParticipant“The problem wasn’t taking on the chumrah the problem was not realizing it was a chumrah and thought it was Halacha instead”
the problem was making up the chumra AND the corresponding punishment.
apushatayidParticipantthe mother was present as they were prepared to harvest her daughters organs?
apushatayidParticipantIt really is Adar.
apushatayidParticipantThe last post is motsi shem ra.
I took it to have been meant sarcastically to mock such Hotza’as Shem Ra.
apushatayidParticipantWhy would anyone want to stick out in a crowd? Aren’t they concerned about ayin hara?

apushatayidParticipantthe internet chat rooms of the mid 90s had an ignore feature. you could choose the users whose comments you wished to see, and the others you would never see. why isnt that a feature of these blog type forums.
apushatayidParticipantjoseph would have to issue his psak, since he is the self appointed posek of the coffee room, how one shoulda address members of the opposite yeshiva crowd.

apushatayidParticipantmay we assume that bubba21 is a 21 year old biker wannabe whose hero is some tough biker dude named bubba? perhaps she is a grandmother with 21 grandchildren? perhaps he is a bachur who hopes to get to daf chaf aleph in one of the bavas this zman?
As Felix Ungar told his roomate Oscar Madison, never assume….
abbreviated
apushatayidParticipantThis is the internet. Never assume anything about anyone. Anyone can take on any persona hiding behind a keyboard. Just evaluate and respond to the words that appear on your screen, nothing more, nothing less (even then, you are missing facial expression, tone body language).
February 22, 2016 12:17 pm at 12:17 pm in reply to: Is there an accredited resource to use for learning the Talmud/Rishonim? #1138282apushatayidParticipantWhat yeshiva that you are aware of permits the use of English translated seforim for use by bachurim during sedorim? I know yeshiva that specifically prohibit their use (with the exception of dictionaries) during Seder. I think your concern is not valid at all.
I would counter, that the over emphasis on lomdus to the detriment of learning how to read a genera and read through a sugya with gemara and Rashi is a much bigger problem.
apushatayidParticipantSimply existing among other people generates a certain amount of attention as people are aware of your presence. The answer to the op is use your seichel. If you don’t have seichel or dont trust your seichel then ask your parents, family rav, teachers etc. For guidance.
apushatayidParticipant“What do women normally wear?”
attention?
