I will assume he is a tremendous gaon and tzadik., However, you are hearing of him because there is a need to fundraise, andit has become fashionable in these times to use gedolim as marketing props. If his last name would be Katz or Joseph and not Kanievsky, they wouldnt be using him.

He’s the new marketing symbol of whatever tzedaka is raising funds that week. Until the next yahrtzeit, of course, then he is old news relegated to the backburner while the rebbe whose yahrtzeit that week is suddenly the hot marketing item. I know this is crass, but, there is no other way to explain the use of a rebbes image, memory and tzidkus as a marketing symbol.

Did the chasam sofer EVER write in his teshuvos dictating the the maximum size of ones home? The shela? Were there no wealthy people in the city of either the shela or chasam sofer who had large homes who were told to take them down, or, who were given mussar by them to reduce the size?
I AM saying the OP has that charachteristic, as do many others.

I cant find any evidence that tony french or the band prana are wiccan. even if they are, perhaps they are atheists. wiccans, especially the ones who were popular in the 70s and 80s were more hippies than than anything else.

Is there an opinion in halacha that permits a woman to completely expose her knee in halacha? I deliberately chose an example that I thought was elementary school halacha accepted by all legitimate halachic authorities. Certainly, “Rabbi” Sally Sherman and other of her ilk would have their own opinions and standards, but, I (foolishly?) assumed we were referring to those who follow the shulchan aruch and its standards.

@shopping. The OP is opining that the mannequins are set up in a way that does not conform to halacha, (Perhaps the neckline is too low, the dress sits above the knee etc…) thus directly telling the market this is what you should buy and how you should wear it. .
Ssshhhh… not so loud, the NYS Dept. of Education might hear.
The local clothing store is not creating demand by its mannequin displays. If the local butcher sold pork no one would go in.

I was a school melava malka once, where a speaker mentioned a conversation he had with a bachur home for bein hazmanim, In response to the question “how do you like the yeshiva”, the bachur replied, “Its great, i love it”, when asked, one of the things he liked abouit his yeshiva was that “english is optionary”. when english is optionary things become rampid.

There is a machlokes between the mechaber and rma regarding the ratio of wine/water for something to be considered halachicly wine. There is a difference in how American and Israeli grape juice is made. israeli grape juice and certainly light grape juice is problematic according to the mechaber, while american grape juice, (and possibly even light) is not even for sefardim. I heard this in a shiur from a sefardi Rav, addressing making kiddush on grape juice.

Pundits were very clear. This was a clear swipe at the blue states specifically the governor’s who oppose his very existence. 30+ years ago, we were told we could damage the cigarettes that belonged to someone in the yeshiva dorm. We did. We scooped out the tobacco and filled them with oregano (stuffing just enough tobacco at the end to make it look alright.
Was quite a site watching him light up.
We had to fes up, when he was on his way to the store to make a return for the “stale cigarettes”.

If one would head over to the facebook page of this ice cream company and read the origins of the name, this entire thread, the letter by mr. goldstien and the answer by “the guy at the OU” he spoke with, they would realize the entire thread is a waste of time.

I like how “ad-dlo-yada has become a verb, as in “required to ad-dlo-yada”.
this year they will be celebrating on the yom haknisa, st. patricks day which is earlier in the week.
