His FATHER is used as a prop for tzedakos. He is the face of several well known tzedakas. That is an undisputable fact. THAT is the REAL bizayon hatorah.

Is he being groomed to be the next Godol HaDor? #1733494apushatayidParticipantI will assume he is a tremendous gaon and tzadik., However, you are hearing of him because there is a need to fundraise, andit has become fashionable in these times to use gedolim as marketing props. If his last name would be Katz or Joseph and not Kanievsky, they wouldnt be using him.

May 17, 2019 10:27 am at 10:27 am in reply to: Did Rebbitzin Golden Pick Sponsor an Article Just to Troll? #1728538apushatayidParticipantThis thread is silly. The Rebbetzin has been trolling for free, why would she suddenly spend money to do so?
apushatayidParticipant“non dairy” is a nutritional, not a kashrus statement. The only kashrus statement on the packaging is the symbol. ou, oud etc..
if you cant, or wont, understand the difference perhaps you shouldnt buy products they certify.
May 15, 2019 3:33 pm at 3:33 pm in reply to: Did Rebbitzin Golden Pick Sponsor an Article Just to Troll? #1727461apushatayidParticipantמבטן שאול = from the boich of shaul.
we should infer the authors name is shaul, and he is an anav, referring to everything in his sefer as from the boich (in english, shot from the hip)
apushatayidParticipantHe’s the new marketing symbol of whatever tzedaka is raising funds that week. Until the next yahrtzeit, of course, then he is old news relegated to the backburner while the rebbe whose yahrtzeit that week is suddenly the hot marketing item. I know this is crass, but, there is no other way to explain the use of a rebbes image, memory and tzidkus as a marketing symbol.
apushatayidParticipantback to the op. who decides “needs”.
apushatayidParticipantthe neturai karta will be saying kinnos.
apushatayidParticipantBack to the OP and the question whether ” a Jew allowed to build a bigger house than he needs?”
Who determines his needs? The jealous townspeople?
apushatayidParticipant“As for tzarut ayin, would you say that the Chatam Sofer had that characteristic?”
Did the chasam sofer EVER write in his teshuvos dictating the the maximum size of ones home? The shela? Were there no wealthy people in the city of either the shela or chasam sofer who had large homes who were told to take them down, or, who were given mussar by them to reduce the size?
I AM saying the OP has that charachteristic, as do many others.
As for the “purpose” of the CR, thats for everyone to decide how they wish to use it.
And, since you quote the kli Yakar, can I assume you live in a home made of sticks and straw?
apushatayidParticipantThe most popular sefer “seforim hakedoshim”.
J
apushatayidParticipant“Apushtayid why build a mansion if you don’t want to attract attention?”
Lets assume the “worst”. The ONLY reason I am building a mansion is to attract attention. Whats it to you? (Not to mention, the fact that I achieved my goal, I got attention.) Are you my Rebbe? Mashgiach?
apushatayidParticipantWow. I’ve never seen such tzarus ayin amongst jews.
apushatayidParticipantIf you had no intention of naming the program you shouldn’t have written this thread. You created needless hock.
apushatayidParticipantI cant find any evidence that tony french or the band prana are wiccan. even if they are, perhaps they are atheists. wiccans, especially the ones who were popular in the 70s and 80s were more hippies than than anything else.
apushatayidParticipantSo, is the songwriter wiccan? the band? those who did the remix that the israeli group took it from, are they wiccan? you could construe the lullaby twinkle, twinkle little star as worshipping the stars if you want to.
April 12, 2019 11:20 am at 11:20 am in reply to: Do I owe my neighbor kosher meat or treif meat? #1713906apushatayidParticipant“Luckily, my 60 pounds of kosher meat nullifies her one pound of treif meat, so now my poy has 60 pounds of kosher meat.”
60+1 = 60?
apushatayidParticipant“does everyone in your building conform to the same standards of halacha? What about your shul??
Everyone who lives in my home, conforms to the same standards.
Shul? If we all ask our questions to the Rav of the shul, then I suppose the answer is yes. We all conform to the standards of the Rav Shlita?
Is there an opinion in halacha that permits a woman to completely expose her knee in halacha? I deliberately chose an example that I thought was elementary school halacha accepted by all legitimate halachic authorities. Certainly, “Rabbi” Sally Sherman and other of her ilk would have their own opinions and standards, but, I (foolishly?) assumed we were referring to those who follow the shulchan aruch and its standards.
April 12, 2019 11:12 am at 11:12 am in reply to: Do I owe my neighbor kosher meat or treif meat? #1713902apushatayidParticipantthe dog food is kosher lipesach? is chametz batil bishishim?
apushatayidParticipant@shopping. The OP is opining that the mannequins are set up in a way that does not conform to halacha, (Perhaps the neckline is too low, the dress sits above the knee etc…) thus directly telling the market this is what you should buy and how you should wear it. .
April 12, 2019 9:27 am at 9:27 am in reply to: NEW TREND: Sending Your Kids To Mesivta In Lakewood That Do Not Have English #1713824apushatayidParticipantSsshhhh… not so loud, the NYS Dept. of Education might hear.
apushatayidParticipantThe local clothing store is not creating demand by its mannequin displays. If the local butcher sold pork no one would go in.
It’s not a question of blame.
apushatayidParticipant“they should be more sensitive to the community.”
Lets call a spade a spade. the sellers are selling what the buyers want.
apushatayidParticipantManicans are becoming quite rampid.
April 11, 2019 10:13 am at 10:13 am in reply to: Are you really Frummer than others or are you Crum? #1713412apushatayidParticipant” I am embarrassed in front of my non jewish coworkers who ask me why the Chassidim don’t vaccinate”
Why? Every group has its crazies, yidden are no different. The press isnt looking for soundbites from those who do vaccinate, nor do they speak to rabbonim or other community leaders. they are only intrested in the soundbites that feed the ever growing appetite for sensationalism that their viewers crave.
apushatayidParticipantThats a good question. Why not ask your Rebbe?
April 9, 2019 1:45 pm at 1:45 pm in reply to: NEW TREND: Sending Your Kids To Mesivta In Lakewood That Do Not Have English #1712179apushatayidParticipantThis thread is about high schools and possibly the upper grades in lakewood elementary schools.
April 8, 2019 1:44 pm at 1:44 pm in reply to: NEW TREND: Sending Your Kids To Mesivta In Lakewood That Do Not Have English #1711108apushatayidParticipant@Meno. I was a school melava malka once, where a speaker mentioned a conversation he had with a bachur home for bein hazmanim, In response to the question “how do you like the yeshiva”, the bachur replied, “Its great, i love it”, when asked, one of the things he liked abouit his yeshiva was that “english is optionary”. when english is optionary things become rampid.
April 8, 2019 1:43 pm at 1:43 pm in reply to: NEW TREND: Sending Your Kids To Mesivta In Lakewood That Do Not Have English #1711106apushatayidParticipant1: It isnt so new.
2: Ummm…
Rampid?
Well, they dont send the kids to english. What did you expect?
apushatayidParticipant“There is a newish product on the market called Grape Juice light.”
Light grape juice has been on the market for at least a dozen years. Probably more. not so new. Just your hock. It is only 2nd day of bein hazmanim, and already your bored?
April 8, 2019 12:45 pm at 12:45 pm in reply to: Does anyone know where to obtain yeshivish clothing on the West Coast? #1711059apushatayidParticipantevery major retailer in the us sells white shirts and black pants. what exactly are you looking for.
apushatayidParticipantThere is a machlokes between the mechaber and rma regarding the ratio of wine/water for something to be considered halachicly wine. There is a difference in how American and Israeli grape juice is made. israeli grape juice and certainly light grape juice is problematic according to the mechaber, while american grape juice, (and possibly even light) is not even for sefardim. I heard this in a shiur from a sefardi Rav, addressing making kiddush on grape juice.
Everyone should ask their own rav, their own shayla.
April 7, 2019 9:45 pm at 9:45 pm in reply to: Tax Time Nightmare….Trump’s Tax Reforms Cost me big time #1710711apushatayidParticipantPundits were very clear. This was a clear swipe at the blue states specifically the governor’s who oppose his very existence. Make them squirm when their citizens realize uncle Sam will no longer subside their tax and spend ways. From this read it’s clear citizens took a hit. The question remains, will they blame Trump or forcer governors to rethink tax and spend.

March 29, 2019 12:00 pm at 12:00 pm in reply to: Can you steal something from a friend if its bad for him #1704753apushatayidParticipant30+ years ago, we were told we could damage the cigarettes that belonged to someone in the yeshiva dorm. We did. We scooped out the tobacco and filled them with oregano (stuffing just enough tobacco at the end to make it look alright.
Was quite a site watching him light up.
We had to fes up, when he was on his way to the store to make a return for the “stale cigarettes”.
March 28, 2019 11:59 am at 11:59 am in reply to: YWN writes too many sarcastic and making fun of things-articles #1703547apushatayidParticipantWake up. YWN is not a “news” site. Like all other media outlets, they have opinions, and an agenda. That includes poking fun at things they disagree with. Religiously, socially or politically.
March 28, 2019 11:59 am at 11:59 am in reply to: Ice cream called “big gay” certified kosher-what’s your take? #1703512apushatayidParticipantIf one would head over to the facebook page of this ice cream company and read the origins of the name, this entire thread, the letter by mr. goldstien and the answer by “the guy at the OU” he spoke with, they would realize the entire thread is a waste of time.
