MDD. Dont get outraged. Do something about it. Dont talk about your outrage, thats nothing more than outrageous. That is not what “arvus” is about. Dont believe me, ask your Rav/Rebbe.

The way I see it. If it really IS important, they will either leave a message, or try again very soon.

    “Is Wearing Jeans Considered Modern?”

In many situations I would consider it practical, and normal. Denim is a rather rugged material.

Bed-Stuy. Your sentence needs a revision. I am guessing you are saying that you dont see me complain when someone writes tznius is more than how you dress. That is true. You dont see me “complain” either way though . I was just commenting on your irony. I have not commented on anything else in this thread except for a remark about those who teach tznius.

Personally, I am not a big believer in commenting on anyone else’s mode of dress. Male or female. My job is to make sure my family is dressed in accordance with the demands of tznius. If I was a Rav, I would extend it to the members of my kehilla. It is not my place to comment on the dress of other women, or men. If I felt I could make a difference, I would ask my Rav for advice how to go about reaching out to someone else. The mock “shock” and “horror” I read on this and other blogs, is more humorous than anything else.

I cant stand when someone calls and then mid conversation asks you to hold because someone is “clicking in”. I hang up on them.

Not again, because nothing new will be added to the discussion, except perhaps for the screen names of those espousing opinions.

“apy – you dont eat sushi for no reason, right?”

Because my wife doesnt make it, and I cant bring myself to buy it.

Jeans. I dont wear them 99% of the time because they dont fit in accordance with the dress code where I daven (the rav requests not to wear them to shul) and where I work. It is quite a hassle to change my pants several times a day so I put on a pair in the morning and that takes me through my day. On rare occasions, such as when I am painting the living room, or climbing up on the roof to clean away leaves or some similar activity, I wear jeans. So, in summary, I dont normally, but I would when necessary. If anyone felt that my wearing of jeans was making a statement, that is there problem, not mine.

In shidduchim “normal” is relative term. The Bas Kol didnt skip over you and also called out bas ploni liploni by you too. Hatzlacha in finding that ploni.

As an aside, you are a lot more “normal” than you realize simply by accepting that you have/had an issue that required getting help, and acting on it. There are many “normal” people who need help and dont get it.

Its all in how it is taught and how those who do the teaching (parents and mechanchim) practice what they teach.

Chalav Stam is easier to say than Chalav Shel Hakampanies. It doesnt matter what it is called. Call it ivnuidnutituoid if you wish. Whether one drinks it or not is not dependent on its name, but on the Psak of R’ Moshe Z’l.

When it comes to the telephone, I can understand not wanting to receive certain calls at certain times. However, it cuts both ways. Its your fault for answering the phone when it is not convenient for you. If you are serving supper, putting your kids to sleep or just want to relax, ignore the phone. If the yetzer hara of the ringer is too much, then turn off the ringer. If the call is important, the person will try again, or leave a message.

This is from the FTC website.

    4. What types of calls are not covered by the National Do Not Call Registry?

The do not call provisions do not cover calls from political organizations, charities, telephone surveyors, or companies with which a consumer has an existing business relationship.

    5. Do the do not call provisions of the TSR cover calls soliciting money for charities?

Charities that are calling on their own behalf to solicit charitable contributions are not covered by the requirements of the national registry. However, if a third-party telemarketer is calling on behalf of a charity, a consumer may ask not to receive any more calls from or on behalf of that specific charity. If a third-party telemarketer calls again on behalf of that charity, the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $16,000 .

    Solicitations for charitable contributions:

“maintain a certain dignified look and appearance”

My heimishe plumber, electrician, mechanic and roofer all respectfully disagree with you and believe jeans are quite the appropriate attire.

“the way you look is the way you’ll be looked at!”

The heimishe plumber, electrician, mechanic and roofer know this all too well. Its why they dont show up in a jacket and tie.

“jeans are very street-like and casual.”

Is there anything wrong with being casual? Surely you are aware that black is the preferred color of the street.

“in the end of the day the way you look is the way you’ll be looked at!”

    Sad, but unfortunately true.

I bought a car seat for my son, and not even 24 hours later I got a call from my credit card company asking about a huge purchase I made. After talking with the people at udiapers .com (over email… no one would answer the phone, or call me back) They “accidentally” charged my CC for $950. I’m in the process of fighting them for my money. I’ve cancelled my CC. PLEASE NO ONE EVER ORDER FROM THIS SITE!!!!! TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW. No one should have to have $1400 taken from them and not a thing to show for it.

Just a derabanan? the cheese could be traif midoraisa if rennet from a traif animal is used in the production of the cheese. if any vegetables are used, there is the issue of tolaim, which is doraisa. as has been already raised, the pizza may have been baked in an oven with pepperoni, which is a)traif and b) bassar bichalav both doraisa.

Why do I think this entire thread is contrived?
