am yisrael chaiParticipant
Yaela
You are doing an admirable thing by covering at least to some extent while trying to make sense of what you are doing.
You write that “It’s taken from Parshat Sotah and inferred from that. It’s not stated outright.”
Consider for a moment: You wouldn’t consider keeping kosher any differently, yet the only thing written in the chumash (actually, several times) is ?? ??????? ??? ???? ???. That’s it.
So it is quite clear that we can’t just go by ???? ?????, but we need ???? ???? ?? also.
I had a wise teacher in yeshiva who would say, “Ask away all your questions, but do what needs to be done in the meantime. And even if you don’t get your answers, do it anyway!”
am yisrael chaiParticipantAmen ken yehi ratzon 🙂
And a happy birthday to you and make sure to give a bracha to yourself, too!
am yisrael chaiParticipantalways
clearly.
BUT there’s no such concept of acceptable trolling in halacha when it entails being ???? on many issurim such as disparaging, ridiculing, name calling and degrading.
There are other trollers on this site who did not resort to such low “standards” in their quest for many posts.
am yisrael chaiParticipantDefinitely keep your job 🙂
Just remember that the most important quality to look for is midos. You were lucky that it came out before marriage and you had the strength to do something about it. If you speak to some of the divorced people you mention, many will say that they saw something during engagement & but went through with the plans anyway.
am yisrael chaiParticipantAlways
I’m with you.
Now how are we supposed to teach young ones that name calling is improper when you have “adults” doing it? And within our fold. Now I understand better when learning that before Moshiach comes, knowing right from wrong becomes blurred…
am yisrael chaiParticipantI wonder what the Chofetz Chaim says about how many lavs are being committed when name calling.
Anyone know?
And why this is being allowed in a yeshiva setting is unsettling.
Mods, r u there?
right here, and laughing
am yisrael chaiParticipantBetter to find out before the wedding than after.
I respectfully disagree with WIY.
There are quite a few times that “conversation” will not highlight a person’s temper, rigidity, and stinginess as much as wedding planning will…..
As they say, you can thank him for the lessons he’s taught you and for making you one closer to your basherte…
am yisrael chaiParticipant???? ??? ?? ??? ???? ???? (Breishis 15:13)
am yisrael chaiParticipantOK-??? ??? ????
So I guess you weren’t the mod 🙂
But you know what is so odd?
Why would the mod do it
The mod certainly blew it
Who wanted to stir the pot
And took an aimless shot
Especially during the 9 days
Hope the mod mends his ways

The theme is definitely harder (I didn’t come up with it, so I take no credit!)
It wasn’t my idea to provide sources here but I’m very grateful to whomever it was (I’ll have to look it up) so that I and others can look it up, too 🙂
32:38 for yours
?????? ?????? ???? (Tehillim 78:65)
am yisrael chaiParticipantAnd remember the valuable lesson she taught you:
You deserve better than you thought.
am yisrael chaiParticipantSo what is your theory?
am yisrael chaiParticipantI’ll take the flag pole. I’m not much into taking Poles.
am yisrael chaiParticipantNope. I’d only seen that after the accusation.
Why else would I have been so dubiously dubbed?
am yisrael chaiParticipantYes, I looked that one up. I knew for sure it wasn’t in ?? because I say that one for some ????? frequently. I also felt that the word might be ?????, and I wanted to check if there was a ?? in front (yes to both). So thanks for making me look it up!
Btw, you’ve got a wonderful memory b”H ba”h
I’m finding it harder keeping to the 3 week theme 🙂

Here’s hoping that we can finally solve the problem…
with deep help for both victimizers & victims.

How did YOU come to the decision that she was not the one for you after all, if I may ask?
It’s HER issue if she keeps you in the back of her mind, not yours. Let it go IMHO.

You are so courageous facing up to your worst tragedies & dealing with them.
It’s a long road to healing but not a lonely one, as we are all here with you.
You can do it. One step at a time.
am yisrael chaiParticipantYou are quite welcome. It really is beautifully written with a wonderful message.
I saw them but don’t know what to make of them. Somehow I had seen the new sub after your accusations.

For is quickly composing rhyming ????????
am yisrael chaiParticipantThe poem is by Edgar Guest
(continued)
When I see a deed of kindness,
I am eager to be kind.
When a weaker brother stumbles
and a strong man stays behind
Just to see if he can help him,
then the wish grows strong in me
To become as big and thoughtful
as I know that friend to be.
And all travelers can witness
that the best of guides today
Is not the one who tells them,
but the one who shows the way.
One good man teaches many,
men believe what they behold;
One deed of kindness noticed
is worth forty that are told.
Who stands with men of honor
learns to hold his honor dear,
For right living speaks a language
which to every one is clear.
Though an able speaker charms me
with his eloquence, I say,
I’d rather see a sermon
than to hear one, any day.
am yisrael chaiParticipantMagnificent, glorious world
Nothing can compare to the simple beauty of nature
Omnipotence, seen in this marvelous wonder
Perfect in every way
Quite beautiful, watching the ocean waves crashing
Ripples and waves marking the water’s surface
Students studying by the peaceful shoreline
Tourists snapping photos of the breathtaking picture
Unbelievably peaceful
Very pretty shells lining the shore
With the water’s lapping sounds
Xanax in natural form
Youth building castles in the sand
Zestful boaters zooming by
am yisrael chaiParticipantwhat’s really weird is “wierd”
The maidel Fraidel Knaidel
Happy in her baby cradle
Named as such by her papa Derech
Who loves rhyming names, that Derech Hamelech
am yisrael chaiParticipant“18 is the only number whose digits sum to half its value.”

Try journaling right now. Write w/o thinking, just whatever comes out.
You’ll be amazed.
am yisrael chaiParticipantI just read a great article by R Dovid Goldwasser on this issue.
Toward the end of the piece, the rav gives several recommendations: (paraphrasing)
1. reduce texting during the week
2. give away your cell phone for Shabbos (the rav says that he keeps quite a few cells for people over Shabbos & yo”t)
3. make a buddy system where you are accountable and can discuss your efforts and successes
4. learn about the holiness of Shabbos & the halachos.
5. make plans for Shabbos that will keep you busy and not bored
6. if you feel that OCD is involved, get help
“If you would like to take the first step on this journey, you can call me (R Goldwasser) at 718 677-3712 and- thought it’s not my preferred method of communication- I will send you a text of personal chizuk and berachah before Shabbos.”
Hatzlacha to anyone struggling with this issue.

don’t see it as butting in but more as al taamod al dam rayecha…kol yisrael araivim ze la’ze. I couldn’t keep quiet either when I read that the poster had to take a xanax because of cyber bullying.
am yisrael chaiParticipantI’m with you, a mamin 🙂
am yisrael chaiParticipantIcot
can u give us a hint what you are thanking for?
I’m thanking u in advance 🙂
thanks in general to the staff, I really appreciate all the hard work.
I was just concerned to read that a prolific, mature poster had to take a xanax because of cyber bullying, but I’m confident that won’t happen again

August 5, 2011 11:04 pm at 11:04 pm in reply to: mods! when someone calls you a 'dolt' they're calling you an idiot!! #1034703am yisrael chaiParticipantI guess I’ll have to take back the part that you’d be man enough to understand… 🙂
I just can’t bring myself to name-calling, which hopefully you’ll get in a few decades 🙂
am yisrael chaiParticipantYou accused ayc of giving every SN a try
Without supporting your accusation why
You stated that ayc & Joseph were one and the same
And all of a sudden ayc got a new name
So now the story continues to unfold
That msseeker might be a mod, truth be told… 🙂

August 5, 2011 10:44 pm at 10:44 pm in reply to: mods! when someone calls you a 'dolt' they're calling you an idiot!! #1034701am yisrael chaiParticipantBoth parties need to find your banter funny for it to be funny.
When the other party clearly states that it is not only not funny but very painful, then continuing the same behavior is abusive.
I’m sure you’re man enough to understand that.
August 5, 2011 10:01 pm at 10:01 pm in reply to: Netziv – Even An "Unanswered" Tefila Helps! #794770am yisrael chaiParticipantPerhaps you can post the great divrei Torah in the dvar Torah sticky thread on top instead of a new thread for each dvar Torah.
am yisrael chaiParticipant?? ??? ???? (Amos 8:11)

You seem to have it the hardest during the nighttime hours; can you get support in place for yourself during that time?
(You seem to feel better in the mornings.)
am yisrael chaiParticipantYou, msseeker
A sheker speaker!
You’ve no proof that AYC is him
You are ???? on choshed b’ksherim
SO perhaps it is YOU who should change the SN
To “here goes the shekerspeaker again” 🙂
am yisrael chaiParticipantmsseeker, the CR knows the acronym SN
but you are insinuating I’ve a collection again
If it’s really true that it’s emes you seek
Then perhaps you should consider thinking before you speak.

In the beginning of Garden of Emuna, there’s a true story about a young woman who lost a young child (murdered & dismembered) & shortly thereafter, lost her husband. Through a dream she was showm the “story behind the story” & what really was happening.
It would be a grave injustice if I would paraphrase.
See if you could get your hands on the book.
I hope by now you called the numbers that were supplied to you on your other thread. A support group for domestic abuse survivors & a counselor specializing in it are both crucial in the healing process.
Usually a victim somehow suffered from abuse in some way growing up, and subconsciously chooses a partner who is “familiar.”
Comparing oneself to others is a form of self-abuse. A victim many times will put herself/himself down (self-abuse) even when not in the presence of the abuser.
Keep in mind that Hashem gives lots of nisyonos to high neshamos…suffering in this world is better than in the next.
We all here feel for you & are rooting for you.
Now you need to borrow the book & make the call.
Hatzlacha.

thanks for the tip, that I saw but didn’t think it would help.
There was a poster on the rhyme game thread who out of nowhere was insinuating something followed by the subtitle change. That poster seems to have the power to change it…
health- it’s a valid English word. U can google it for further info.
let’s see if this post goes through.
