The OP was not suggesting that there was an issue with saying Tehillim, but rather if one may say it ?????? ????? with ?????’s names.

The other question was regarding when one says the Yehi Ratzon following Tehillim.

I USED to ask baalei tshuva (when I was in high school)why they would CHOOSE to impose restrictions on themselves when they were used to having so much more “freedom.”

The answers given used to leave me floored. (It’s very obvious to me now!) They ALL felt that they had MORE freedom by having more restrictions and therefore more SELF-CONTROL. In their experience, having more self-control meant that no other force (including addictions) would have control over them. They felt more powerful and more in charge of their lives.

They also felt that even SIMPLE actions had more meaning. That thanking G-d for the food they were about to eat made the eating itself more holy.

Many girls schools value midos. Some have a different midah of the month with associated projects, etc. Some have midos awards at graduation. Many have mandatory chesed projects.

If you’re finding a particular problem with your girls’ schools, your best bet would be to meet with the teachers and express your concerns at the BEGINNING of the year (rather than waiting till PTA).

Kol hakavod, Hummingbird, for saying the entire Tehillim on Shabbos for so many years!

I’m not clear myself why we mention cholim on Shabbos by Mi Shebayrach but not by Tehillim (I understand the Torah is present, but still). I hope someone here may know.

Some rabbanim say it’s ok to say names L’iluy nishmas (not cholim) while others say one may just THINK the names.

At the end of Tehillim, there’s a special Yehi Ratzon to say after completing any or all sfarim of Tehillim ON SHABBOS which I’m sure you’ve said many times considering your dedication.

So I think the statement “litvak Ashkenazim do not say tehillim on Shabbos for two reasons” would refer to saying Tehillim prefaced by cholim’s names. Certainly it’s admirable and desirable to say Tehillim on Shabbos. In fact, there are quite a number of Tehillim groups meeting regularly on Shabbos to complete all 5 sfarim.
