I had a wise teacher in high school who said that if one waits till one HAS the time, one will NEVER have the time. Not just for the CR.

    One must MAKE the time.

    And we do.

The CR is a social and educational outlet interlaced with Torah and midos.

So we hang up our cyber hats and park ourselves here from time to time.

There was a GREAT story recently about a twin who shot the hockey puck directly into this teeny goal & won major cash in this hockey contest.

The dad’s conflict was that his son, whose name was drawn as the winner to take a shot at the goal, was in the restroom. So the dad told his twin to take the shot.

    And he scored!

The dad did fess up, despite knowing that no one would know the difference, to teach the boys right from wrong.

The insurance company then had a conflict and spent time determining if the prize money should indeed be dispensed or not.

And would’ya have guessed that the company said “not?”

    Great stuff.

??? (basket) = ?? in gematriya, 1/60th is the shiur, and that letter is the only one missing from the parsha of bikkurim!

And what a great message not to compare oneself to others since it would reduce our simcha. One would also develop gratitude for what one DOES have.

When you become more comfortable with who you are and accept and love yourself as is, THAT’S when a happier vibe will come through and you’ll naturally respond in an even better way.

And people tend naturally to the happier people.

“I highly doubt that Midrash is meant to be taken literally”

Rashi quite clearly says this (Breishis 28:11)and does not give the medrash as a source. It can be literal while also teaching an important lesson.

I think you are correct in not ignoring this.

Just be aware that many celiacs thrive when they can identify the other foods to which they are sensitive (not allergic, so they won’t show on a standard allergy test).

And studies show that usually dairy is an issue with absorption as well (you can research this online).

When you solve any other malabsorption issues and remove them from the diet (trial and error, or alternative), your child should thrive be”H.

    DESIGNER FASHION

    ==================

You know fashion designers like Vera Wang and Bill Blass

Who are considered Kings and Queens of elite fashion class

Whose goal is that their designs cause people to turn and stare

Who dictate to the rest of the world the current fashion flair

One year it’s slits, one year it’s tight

One year it’s short, to men’s delight

    Exposing collarbones, elbows and knees

To the delight of any man who sees

They’ve apparently run short of fabric

On either side of the Atlantic

How can women be so blind

So as not to know the human male’s mind

    Men are very visual creatures

So please cover your G-d given features

G-d is the BIGGEST fashion Designer

Who wants you to look refined and finer

He wants you to be attractive but not to attract

For you to be elegant but not to distract

You’re Hashem’s precious daughter whom He has blessed

So please Thank Him by the way you are dressed

    150mg omega-3

    18 vitamins & minerals

Under the ok & another hashgacha

    chalav yisrael

    gluten free

    3 flavors, delicious

You can get it in the local grocery store.

Here’s the info on the package:

    actionnutrition.net

    888 770-9211

    ==============================

There are also gluten-free supplemental powders that you can mix into applesauce.

Normally I would say to mix into yogurt as well but celiacs usually avoid dairy even if there’s no allergy, as they find it more difficult to digest. If you’re child is on dairy, take him off of it to see if it helps.

Personally, I would experiment removing peanuts also and see it this helps.

There are alternatives who use a machine that the patient holds onto while it prints out foods to avoid specifically for that patient.

I know of skeptics who doubted this method, but when push came to shove, this is the method that worked.

    Go figure.

Hafotora of Ki Savo (Yeshayahu 60)

?????? ???? ?????? ????? ???? ??? ??? ???? (Yeshayahu 60:21), And your people are all righteous, they shall inherit the land forever, they are the branch of my plantings.

(Incidentally, we say this before Pirkei Avos)

How can we say that we will be only tzadikim? Don’t we see any reshaim? Or baynonim?

Hashem in His kindness gives us the opportunity to correct our flaws by returning us as gilgulim until we get it right and have our tikkun. That is how we are all tzaddikim. This is also alluded by the plural “plantings,” we are planted and reincarnated several times in this world till even the wicked become righteous.

To teach us that you should be a head of a head, and not a head of a tail.

This is similar to the teaching in Pirkei Avos ??? ??? ?????? ???? ??? ??? ???????, that we should be the tail of lions rather than the head of foxes.

Do As I Say, Do As I Do…-The Brisker Rav

The pasuk in the parsha (28:9) “V’Halachta B’Drachav” ??????????? ???????????, to go in the ways of Hashem, is the basis for all good Middos Min HaTorah. Chazal tell us that the gemara says (Sotah 14a) that this mitzva teaches us to clothe the poor and visit the sick.

Generally this Mitzva is used to teach us that kindness and compassion is Min HaTorah because by acting this way we are emulating Hashem. The MiShulchan Govoa says that the Brisker Rav understood this Mitzva to be FAR BEYOND the realm of compassion. Its root is Hashem’s will.

The Gemara (Megila 13b) tells the story of Rochel warning Yaakov that her father Lavan is a crook and he will not give her to him to marry. Yaakov tells her not to worry because he knows how to deal with trickery himself. Rochel then asks him, “Is it permitted for a tzaddik to deal with trickery?” Yaakov answers with the pasuk [(slightly different) Shmuel bais 22:27 and Tehillim 18:27], “Im Navar Tisbarar V’Im Ikeish Tispatal” with the pure -deal purely, with the crooked- deal crookedly.

Even so the question remains, how can a tzaddik be crooked?

The Brisker Rov answers that there is no such thing as absolute crooked and straight. Only the Ratzon of Hashem matters. Since Hashem commanded us to follow His ways, when dealing with people whom the pasuk tells us that Hashem acts crookedly with the crooked, kiviyachol, so too, we must emulate his ways and act crooked at times.

Middos are not an end to itself. Do not be holier than thou or more compassionate than Hashem. Do as he does and do not create your own Torah. The only benchmark we focus on, is the will of our creator!

The Great Benefit Of Reading The Tochacha

The Gemara in Megila (31b) says that we read the Tochacha in Parshas Ki Savo RIGHT BEFORE Rosh HaShana in order that “Tichleh Shana V’Kililoseha”,(???????? ?????? ?????????) the year and its curses should end. What does READING the Tochacha help our situation?

Hashem promised that when there is no Bais HaMikdash we can still bring Korbanos by saying and learning the Parshiyos related to the Korbanos, “U’Nishalma Parim Sifaseinu ??????????? ??????? ??????????? (Hoshea 14:3).”

“Similarly,” says the Radomsker Rebbe, “we read the Tochacha and by saying it, if we were deserving of its punishments, it should be considered AS IF it befell us r”l through the reading, and going forward, only bracha should come our way.”
