“I agree, and neither would I. I don’t think it’s honest to do that, unless you leave your original screen name first and don’t use it again.”

    I agree with oomis.

I’m just surprised no arrests were made!

my DH was in BP late last night (into the wee hours of the morning) @ the Skulener Rebba, Shlita. I hate to think of what might have happened if he had come in contact with this MVA, cv’s.

the 2 times I went with my children years ago, we brought a suitcase full of food. (we stayed for 10 days). we had no problem bringing a day’s worth of food- sandwiches, mini-poptop cans of tuna, & snacks- to each park.

my parents didn’t allow me to skip 3rd grade when it was suggested, but then I was tested before going into 7th grade, was put in a 2 yr junior h.s. program (‘SP’) & skipped 8th grade… but I can’t imagine what my IQ ‘scores’ would be now, all these decades later 😉

gefen~ “yeah i thought you were younger too. you look good for your age 🙂 anyway – i wonder how old ppl here think i am.”

thanks! I had a friend over this Shabbos from Israel; our same age sons had been in the same grade in Yeshiva here. I thought we’re contemporaries but it turns out that she’s 14 yrs younger than me!! :-O

    when you showed up here on the CR during the Chicago blizzard, you made mention of your teen daughter/her friends being on here, too;

so I figure you havta be at least 35. but you don’t look a day over 25! 😉

well, 123bubby [even tho’ I know you aren’t old enough to be one]~ I think ‘smart cookie’ sort of figured out my age & seemed pretty shocked that I’m her mother’s age… & was surprised that us ‘golden oldies’ even know how to use a computer & get on the internet!! ;-P

I must admit that today I got a big shock to my reality.

a friend is visiting from Israel & we were sitting on my porch. she was telling me about how surprised she is by how soo many women are wearing above-the-knee skirts, but especially surprised by the number of ‘older’ women doing so. as we sat on my porch we saw a few examples of this walk by: a youngish married gal I was a little surprised by, but a couple of women in their forties! I had been reading about it here in the CR, & read about it in letters to the Jewish newspapers, but I figured they were talking about girls/ young women.

when I go to shul I don’t pay attention to what the women are wearing, but I have a feeling that this Shavuos I may pay closer attention to the skirt lengths… especially of ‘older’ women.

My Mother, A’H.. gone 43 yrs; she died suddenly @ the age of 41, when I was (just starting to be) a bit of a rebellious teen; I would have loved to have gotten to know her as I matured. 🙁

My Father, A’H .. gone 13 years this month. he was my best friend… wise & supportive. 🙁

I’ve been reading the CR posts for going on 2 yrs., but I didn’t join until 6 months ago. … I think one can basically discern who’s under 21-22 y.o., or so, to some extent, no?

chocandpatience~ honesty? during registration: checking off a box that says “I hereby promise that I am 18 years of age or older, have read the rules/terms of use for the CR…” & submit birthdate??

obviously, it cannot be enforced, per se.

for the ‘imamother’ site, you havta be a Jewish female & married to join their site.. you are asked to fill out a questionnaire at registration so that they can ‘verify’ (?) that you are so. I would imagine it’s not foolproof, but…

I had commented in the past, when I felt a strong young-ish teen presence on board, that perhaps there should be a ‘cocoa room’ section of the CR.

Mod~ altho’ you said that anyone can read the posts, is there at least a minimum age for actually signing up/registering as a CR member? … TIA

I think that pacman/canine/joseph styles are quite easy to discern, IMO.

as far as young ones participating in the CR: yes, I was pretty shocked. (actually, my oldest grandchildren are 6 3/4 y.o., but 9 y.o. technically could be).

do you really think that YWN parents allow their young (under bas/bar mitzvah age) children to read, & possibly post, here in the CR?!

& no, I don’t think it’s appropriate for them to be here.

groisnaches~ what I find very poignant is that you & your husband had already received a bracha from the Rebba, shlita, and yet:

“and on my way out, just before leaving the room, I asked if there’s anything I can take upon myself for special Hatzlacha with important things. ” … you asked for it, you got it.

as has been said before here on this thread: if you seek the advice of a Rebba, be prepared to receive it.

(I don’t mean to sound cold & insensitive.)
