“I agree, and neither would I. I don’t think it’s honest to do that, unless you leave your original screen name first and don’t use it again.”
I agree with oomis.
June 19, 2011 7:07 pm at 7:07 pm in reply to: Bochrim Drag Racing Involved In Major MVA On 13th Ave #778466always hereParticipantI’m just surprised no arrests were made!
my DH was in BP late last night (into the wee hours of the morning) @ the Skulener Rebba, Shlita. I hate to think of what might have happened if he had come in contact with this MVA, cv’s.
always hereParticipant“I analyze every comment made in reference to my children. though I will say not all mechanchim take it as seriously as you do.”
same here (in the past.. my children are all married now, B’H).
always hereParticipantthe 2 times I went with my children years ago, we brought a suitcase full of food. (we stayed for 10 days). we had no problem bringing a day’s worth of food- sandwiches, mini-poptop cans of tuna, & snacks- to each park.
always hereParticipantFeif Un~ 🙁 .. R’L
always hereParticipantFeif Un~ that makes sense to me!
always hereParticipantmy DH & I took several Meal Mart Meals with us on a trip & I really enjoyed them… the variety & the convenience of no refrigeration needed.
always hereParticipantmy parents didn’t allow me to skip 3rd grade when it was suggested, but then I was tested before going into 7th grade, was put in a 2 yr junior h.s. program (‘SP’) & skipped 8th grade… but I can’t imagine what my IQ ‘scores’ would be now, all these decades later 😉
always hereParticipantMazel Tov! asach nachas!! 😀
always hereParticipant40 & 80 per the D’var Torah I heard in Shul today.
always hereParticipantGood Yontif/Chag Sameach to each & every one of you! 🙂
always hereParticipantbrotherofurs~ rivky101 is gonna go zip lining with her grandmother?! LOL 😉
always hereParticipantsem20~ happy birthday! 🙂
always hereParticipantpopa_bar_abba~ happy birthday!
oomis & husband~ mazel tov!
ICOT~ that’s an amazing-looking cake 🙂
always hereParticipantthanks, Mod 80! 😀
always hereParticipantmine, too (Chrome).. it’s fine now
always hereParticipantgefen~ “yeah i thought you were younger too. you look good for your age 🙂 anyway – i wonder how old ppl here think i am.”
thanks! I had a friend over this Shabbos from Israel; our same age sons had been in the same grade in Yeshiva here. I thought we’re contemporaries but it turns out that she’s 14 yrs younger than me!! :-O
when you showed up here on the CR during the Chicago blizzard, you made mention of your teen daughter/her friends being on here, too;
so I figure you havta be at least 35. but you don’t look a day over 25! 😉
always hereParticipantshlishi~ you are correct. but it just looked soo inappropriate on those older gals.. one was walking w/ a grey bearded spouse, and the dress was not at her knees– it was definitely above her knees :/
always hereParticipantmewho~ “may all these wonderful neshomas have an aliyah!” – AMEN!!
umm~ please do! 🙂
minyan gal~ my heart hurts for you :'(
always hereParticipanthey 123bubby~~ who are you calling a dolt?! 😉
and yes, adorable~ you DO havta use some brain cells & look that word up!! J/K!!! 😉
always hereParticipantwell, 123bubby [even tho’ I know you aren’t old enough to be one]~ I think ‘smart cookie’ sort of figured out my age & seemed pretty shocked that I’m her mother’s age… & was surprised that us ‘golden oldies’ even know how to use a computer & get on the internet!! ;-P
always hereParticipantmartini… shaken, not stirred! 😉
always hereParticipantI must admit that today I got a big shock to my reality.
a friend is visiting from Israel & we were sitting on my porch. she was telling me about how surprised she is by how soo many women are wearing above-the-knee skirts, but especially surprised by the number of ‘older’ women doing so. as we sat on my porch we saw a few examples of this walk by: a youngish married gal I was a little surprised by, but a couple of women in their forties! I had been reading about it here in the CR, & read about it in letters to the Jewish newspapers, but I figured they were talking about girls/ young women.
when I go to shul I don’t pay attention to what the women are wearing, but I have a feeling that this Shavuos I may pay closer attention to the skirt lengths… especially of ‘older’ women.
always hereParticipantagree, ICOT! :/
always hereParticipantas an aside– I love that there is a hair donation organization that gives ‘peyos’ to those that are in need of them (due to chemo).
always hereParticipantit also gets said aloud by some during bentching. disturbing.
always hereParticipantgood thread, Goq! thank you.
always hereParticipantMy Mother, A’H.. gone 43 yrs; she died suddenly @ the age of 41, when I was (just starting to be) a bit of a rebellious teen; I would have loved to have gotten to know her as I matured. 🙁
My Father, A’H .. gone 13 years this month. he was my best friend… wise & supportive. 🙁
always hereParticipantI’ve been reading the CR posts for going on 2 yrs., but I didn’t join until 6 months ago. … I think one can basically discern who’s under 21-22 y.o., or so, to some extent, no?
always hereParticipantMother in Israel~ I know. … but we sure wanna be dan lekaf zechus.
always hereParticipantchocandpatience~ honesty? during registration: checking off a box that says “I hereby promise that I am 18 years of age or older, have read the rules/terms of use for the CR…” & submit birthdate??
obviously, it cannot be enforced, per se.
for the ‘imamother’ site, you havta be a Jewish female & married to join their site.. you are asked to fill out a questionnaire at registration so that they can ‘verify’ (?) that you are so. I would imagine it’s not foolproof, but…
always hereParticipantI had commented in the past, when I felt a strong young-ish teen presence on board, that perhaps there should be a ‘cocoa room’ section of the CR.
Mod~ altho’ you said that anyone can read the posts, is there at least a minimum age for actually signing up/registering as a CR member? … TIA
always hereParticipantLOL, Toi 🙂
always hereParticipantadorable~ are you kidding or serious? .. I can’t tell.
always hereParticipanthas anyone, besides myself, seen ‘The Fremont Troll’ in Seattle, WA.? .. it’s a huge sculpture under the Aurora bridge. 🙂
always hereParticipantYbAM~ yes, you are technically correct. (thanks for your post).
always hereParticipanta couple or a few bottles of Bartenura or other wine on the women’s table = some very happy women. including (& especially) me!! ;-D
always hereParticipantah, Mod 80, I wish I was trolling (for fish) right now!! *sigh*
always hereParticipantSender Av~ your menus sound amazing!! kol hakavod 🙂
always hereParticipantI think that pacman/canine/joseph styles are quite easy to discern, IMO.
as far as young ones participating in the CR: yes, I was pretty shocked. (actually, my oldest grandchildren are 6 3/4 y.o., but 9 y.o. technically could be).
do you really think that YWN parents allow their young (under bas/bar mitzvah age) children to read, & possibly post, here in the CR?!
& no, I don’t think it’s appropriate for them to be here.
always hereParticipantno, we should talk about 9 year old girls being (commenting?) in the CR!! (per the Mod)
always hereParticipantI must admit– I’m surprised to hear that a parent who’s on the YWN site would allow such a young child to participate here :/
always hereParticipantMod~ 9 year old girls in the CR?!?!?! .. that’s young enough to be my grandchild’s age!! sorry, but I don’t really wanna be having a convo with a small child here!! :/
always hereParticipantI’ve started 6 in the 6 months I’ve been here.
always hereParticipantI also saw it, adorable. I was a little surprised by it, coming from you. don’t fret, tho’ 🙂
May 30, 2011 11:15 pm at 11:15 pm in reply to: Were not Chassidish at all, but we go to Rebbes for Brachos #773197always hereParticipantgroisnaches~ what I find very poignant is that you & your husband had already received a bracha from the Rebba, shlita, and yet:
“and on my way out, just before leaving the room, I asked if there’s anything I can take upon myself for special Hatzlacha with important things. ” … you asked for it, you got it.
as has been said before here on this thread: if you seek the advice of a Rebba, be prepared to receive it.
(I don’t mean to sound cold & insensitive.)
always hereParticipantgefen~ that’s so cool! yes, I wonder! my mother, A’H, was very beloved by all.. wouldn’t that be something! 🙂 she was a secretary there.
always hereParticipantanonymrs~ of course! hakores hatov!
my parents both worked @ the Brooklyn Navy Yard & married on Nov. 11, 1945. … (my father worked there for over 25 yrs.). even tho’ he was a civilian I always felt close to the Navy. I always try to thank our military service people, police & firefighters when I come in contact with them.
always hereParticipantthanks, Goq! I actually could have.. I have in the past.
have a wonderful day 🙂
always hereParticipantbabysat my granddaughter for a bit, while my daughter went across the street for my grandson’s pre1-A Chumash party @ Chaim Berlin 🙂
