I agree, go for it! how much more could valet parking be? [$500 @ Ateres Chynka.] for the price per couple you’re getting, it’s still kadai.

my husband never does valet parking; he finds a spot himself.

ok. thanks. I always considered it a mitzvah, too.

    moving things along:

what does the class think of taking food home from Chinese auctions? I’ve seen women bring plastic bags along with them & go along the buffets.. shoveling food into their purses, etc.

and is it declasse to ask to have your entire portion of the main dish of the wedding meal wrapped up to take home,if you’re stuffed from the shmorg & other courses?

    haha! I would almost think I’m that savta, except that I’m ‘Bobbe’ & mine are 6.5, 5, & 3 ka’h.

    g’luck telling them… I don’t think u can just sneak away… & g’luck to Savta.. she’s probably younger than I am, but I’d do it.

I babysat my grandchildren for the past 6.5 yrs: my daughter’s a teacher & my s-i-l’s in kollel.

I’d do it, of course, but it wouldn’t be so easy. it would be a little easier cuz the boys’ yeshiva is just across the street from my house.

at those ages they don’t have much concept of time, so if you tell them you’re going away for a few days, they’ll probably just ask if you’ll be home soon.

    chazak613–

gr8! go down & book ’em!

we wanted that hall, but our machatunum (groom’s side), who wanted Ohlei Torah, said it was too small, & sort of railroaded us into Ateres Chynka. we ended up inviting EVERYONE we know/knew for the whole affair!

& then, surprise! we made another wedding (our son’s) 6 months later.. & were still in major shock over what we had spent for our daughter’s wedding.

B’H, we have 2 very happy couples!!.. in addition to the 2 happy couples we married off 6 months apart 8 yrs ago!! 🙂

    agree w/ above.

Ateres Chynka- just know it’s $20,000. minimum for 500 guests.we made a wedding there a year ago.

Tiferes Mordechai- yes, newer, a little smaller, very nice, prob. cheaper. I’ve been to 2-3 chasanas there.

Eden Palace- very nice. I saw advertised $99 per couple pretty much all inclusive, I believe: food, music, photography, flowers? we couldn’t even consider it because my niece got married there but was tragically niftar w/ her husband 2 years later, :(( … leaving a 4 month old son who survived w/o a scratch, B’H.

El Caribe- very nice place, but I believe it’s a non-Jewish owner, if that makes a difference.

there are different halls for different types; min/max # of guests; budget…

Ateres Chynka, Manhattan Beach Jewish Center, Eden Palace, El Caribe, Tiferes Mordechai, etc..

can you tell some of your wishlists?

haha, popa! that was fast, lol!! as I said: “it’s decided Rosh Hashana, sealed on Hoshana Rabbah.” no tricks, just one ticket per prize that I would want. I’ve been one ticket of 3 & lost.. 1 tkt in NCSY (thousands?) & won. B’H! 🙂

yes, I’m the same person IRL.

based on my first posting in the CR, if someone knows me IRL, they’d know who I am.

also– I revealed more in another post that would seal the deal.

we’re using a Jewish company. they made an error & Verizon shut off our phone & the next day, our internet. the phone was turned back on the next day; the internet took TWO FULL WEEKS to be restored!!! my husband said Verizon was giving us a hard time because we weren’t dealing directly with them. he said they used to do that with IDT in the past, too (he was associated with IDT).

we don’t want recipes, thank-you. we want to know if we have to wait until challah’s moldy before we can throw it out.. or if there’s a respectable, acceptable way to throw it out without letting it sit around ’til it gets moldy, when we ARE permitted to throw it out!

thinking & thinking– I hear you & await a good answer, too!! I rarely make challah kugel, @ the most, & rarely my husband makes french toast. We have loads of leftover challah that sits in the dining room,(sorta piling up) & a couple of times I respectfully double wrapped it & threw it out, but felt guilty cuz I didn’t know if I was doing the right thing :/

my daughter was there late this afternoon (Shoprite, McD.&I) & asked the same question because it was soo busy: impending snowstorm &/or ‘can-can’ sale? also- my neighbor said her trip there took soo much longer. I think people were stocking up after the last snow fiasco.

AinOhdMilvado– I personally know a couple, both smokers, who married off their 4 children & have 4 grandchildren, ka’h. And if you’re gonna ask: ‘don’t they want to be @ the grandchildren’s weddings?”, the answer is: yes, iy’H!

The wife stopped smoking for 14 yrs. but then started again; the husband has never tried to stop. They DO stop for 25 hrs. every Shabbos.

I’m confused… in the OP’s 2nd post, he/she says that they were referring to reefer? .. for those unawares, reefer is pot/marijuana. hmmm, so did we all assume it was cigarettes, or was that ‘joke’?

When my daughter was in shidduchim a Lakewood boy was suggested to her. Since a smoker was a deal breaker, I inquired, & was told: “for the right girl I’m sure he’ll stop”. My daughter refused the date.

agent- I also see no problem if one forgot an item & have done the same as you.

If I have a full wagon, I usually will let someone with just one or 2 items go ahead of me.

But I never can stay silent about someone saving a place in line– just standing there– while their mother (usually, but whoever) goes to do a full shopping. As someone said previously– you shop & when you’re finished, then you get on line. Derech eretz.
