always hereParticipant
iy’H, may the next one be the right one!!
always hereParticipanthe didn’t set the date.
she can be ‘busy’ … busy washing her hair, busy doing laundry..
you catch my drift? 😉
always hereParticipantShrek~ “Guests who are invited for a meal: please ask you hosts what time they want you to come, and try to come on time.”
come on time is right! I can’t tell you how many times we’ve had guests arrive late, or even when we’ve already finished the meal:(
always hereParticipantcshapiro~ you go, girl!!
< NOT meaning go out on the date, duh ;-D >
always hereParticipantpopa_bar_abba~ my husband goes out to daven with a minyan 3x a day, except when he goes to mincha/maariv together. add in the mikvah before shacharis, & a nightly shiur, 2 shiurim on Thurs. nite.
BUT- he’s retired, so I guess that changes the equation up a bit. 🙂
always hereParticipantearlier tonight my 3 yr. old granddaughter told me: “King Paroh said: ‘everyone wake up! everyone has to work very hard, making bricks’… with a hammer & a screwdriver!”
always hereParticipantI had never been in the Ave. J Subway, but had food brought home to me. it was a kosher restaurant, I had no problem with that… just didn’t like the food.. not the coldcuts, not the meatballs.. only the tuna. it’s closed now, & I wouldn’t seek one out.. but I do miss the Subsational that was right off Ave. J 🙂
always hereParticipantnow I’m just wondering: …. why do I feel like I’m caught in a teenage chatroom?! :-O
I would’ve posted on the ‘grumpy/kvetchy’ thread, but I don’t know how to retrieve old threads.
always hereParticipantthis is the 3rd time since joining the CR 2 months ago that I’m complaining about too similar names! :/ … i.e. cutie pie, cutiepie, & the pashuteh yids …
smartcookie~ I hear you!!
the poster formerly known as sweetcookie~ good move! 🙂
always hereParticipant“Eighty-Eight”: classy, elegant, & soo sophisticated, lol 😀
always hereParticipanthe didn’t even set a date yet, AND she feels weird about him (bad vibes)…
always hereParticipantI agree with aries’ advice.
always hereParticipanthaha, eclipse!
btw Mod- yesterday there were peeps who requested a sub-title belatedly… just FYI 🙂
always hereParticipant“Actually I felt like a slave that was freed from Mitzraim.”
I would LOVE to go to a hotel for Pesach but my husband says we can’t afford it– even for just us two.
The free-est I ever felt were the 4 Pesachs our whole immediate family spent in Tosh (outside Montreal). We rented a pristine, new apt. for 10-11 dys (for $500!!). Even tho’ we had to shlep alot of things with us– pots, pans, food, NO linens, etc., just the mere fact that I didn’t havta clean our house was a tremendous burden lifted off of my shoulders– a gift! Also, for some meals, my husband & sons brought us food from the tishes, so I cooked alot less. Those Pesachs were a mechaya!!
I’d go away in a heartbeat if I could! B’H, I know our family would easily survive without us.

February 3, 2011 5:40 am at 5:40 am in reply to: Of your Shidduch related decisions what would you change if you could #735848always hereParticipanteclipse~ {{hugs}}
always hereParticipantOomis~ once again, I hear you, & I feel you. {{hugs}}
always hereParticipantwell put (as usual), Oomis
always hereParticipantwhen I worked @ a Yeshiva, if I had an irate caller I would pass the call onto one of the Rabbis in the office.
February 3, 2011 3:24 am at 3:24 am in reply to: Does Human Spellchecker Seem Like Praying Mantis? #735602always hereParticipantdunno. Mod 88 chose it… he/she said it was fun to play around with screen names. …but, obviously, yours relates to comments you & I made.
always hereParticipantI’m trying to figure out if RB is just a ‘Mary, Mary, quite contrary’, or really a Brisk BABY…>>?!
always hereParticipantthe only thing I could think of for Mod 88 is ‘Piano Man’ .. piano keys are referred to as ‘eighty-eights’
(the number of keys on a piano (36 black and 52 white), a piano is sometimes called an “eighty eight”)
always hereParticipantI feel like I’m caught in the middle of a teenage text message!
:-O
always hereParticipantSister Bear~ I saw that clip a couple of weeks ago. yes, it’s very funny. it’s all double entendres.
always hereParticipantnachas~ I googled ‘pre-diabetic menus’ & got a good number of listings.
February 3, 2011 12:42 am at 12:42 am in reply to: Does Human Spellchecker Seem Like Praying Mantis? #735600always hereParticipantcongrats on the CR “Award”! 😉
always hereParticipanthahaha apushatayid! ;-D
always hereParticipantthe Goq answered the phone; he did not fault anyone!
no offense, but do you even know what you’re talking about?! >:-O
always hereParticipantIMO: one’s screen name is one’s signature… nuthin’ else necessary.
always hereParticipantyou DO have a choice. We have 2 newlywed children & during the past year they chose to come, or split up the days, or didn’t even come. no pressure/open invitation to all 4 of our children, their spouses, & their kiddies. that’s not to say that we didn’t want them to come, of course! my daughter & son-in-law come Shabbosim when they want, & tell us how pressured they feel by being ‘guilt-tripped’ into going to the in-laws.
always hereParticipantreal-brisker~ someone yelling & screaming & being nasty & rude is called ‘verbal abuse’!
no one deserves to be abused- in any form!! what don’t you understand?!
always hereParticipantha! Mod 88~ I didn’t know you knew me!.. I thought only Mod 80. 🙂
always hereParticipantMod 88~ are you the one who chose mine? just curious
always hereParticipantcandy~ it’s a gr8 subtitle! I <3 it! ;-D
always hereParticipantWolfgang Puck? what about Julia Child?
always hereParticipantawww! thank you, Mod .. I always wanted a subtitle 🙂
always hereParticipanteclipse~ anywhere there’s a printed or written word.
one goal~ your’s was the worst,(I didn’t understand it), but candy613 gets the award .. her’s is longer & contains spelling errors! >:-O
always hereParticipantsame here! spotting spelling errors is an idiosyncrasy of mine 😉
always hereParticipantseveral years back, I gave to a shadchan- who redt a couple of boys & esp. one who my daughter dated a dozen times,- a Jewish book on matchmaking, I believe, that had just been published. for the life of me, I can’t remember it’s title!
always hereParticipantI kept a secret until today… regarding your other thread “Bracha Comes To What Is Hidden From The Eye”…
I was so excited for when I would be able to tell others, and it was soo hard to keep the secret, but today I got sad news … & the secret’s broken :,(
always hereParticipantcongrats!! we’re so proud of you!
my sister & brother-in-law bicycle ride across Israel once a year to raise funds for a children’s hospital there.
one of my closest friends walks as a breast cancer survivor for that cause.
February 2, 2011 7:46 pm at 7:46 pm in reply to: Just curious . What does everyone do for a living? #1119643always hereParticipantcandy613- it’s ‘gUarding… tonGue..’ & no offense, annoying sign-off like ‘MONIS’ was.
& I did answer the question. I only put paying jobs. (for the babysitting, a couple of times a year I’d get a matuna or cash gift).
and what’s funny– you didn’t answer the question! unless you’re a youngster 😉
February 2, 2011 7:20 pm at 7:20 pm in reply to: Just curious . What does everyone do for a living? #1119637always hereParticipantGoq~ LOL!
what do I do for a living?.. right now, I just live.
previously (from latest to earliest): babysat grandchildren (B’klyn). Yeshiva executive secretary (B’klyn). credit analyst (Manhattan). credit & collections (San Francisco).
always hereParticipantProfessional~ didn’t you read my 2 responses posted to you above, & then my post RIGHT ABOVE yours (to smart cookie)? 🙁
always hereParticipantDaas Yochid~ it’s all good 🙂 .. another expression for the ‘teenage words’ thread?, lol
always hereParticipantLAer~ are you speaking to me?
always hereParticipantsmartcookie ~
I like a nice crust/skin on the chicken; I bake 1.5+ hrs @ 350. I try not to eat the skin altho’ the family loves it… which is why sometimes I try & put (rub) the herbs/sauce/topping under the skin as well. I used to bake closer to 2 hrs., but find it’s more moist with less cooking time. I see some recipes call for baking chicken like 45 minutes, but I would never! — the couple of times the chicken was ‘pink’ [according to him], my husband wouldn’t touch it.
btw– not a steadfast rule, sometimes I do cover the chicken 🙂
always hereParticipantY.W. Editor~ I really enjoyed these pix posted yesterday (not exclusive to Chicago): http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/news/US+News/82581/Incredible-Images%3A-NASA-Satellites-Capture-Data-On-Monster-Winter-Storm-Affecting-30-States.html
always hereParticipantProfessional~ oops! omission from my answer: chicken alone- bake uncovered; chicken with rice has to be covered, so that rice can absorb the water properly.. just like when you’re cooking rice in a pot- it must be tightly covered. 🙂
always hereParticipantDaas Yochid~ I do not indulge in “rude, obnoxious behavior”. first I explain I know it’s not the person to whom I’m speaking’s fault… then I give them the reason for my call. I try to speak with a smile on my face, & sometimes throw in light-hearted comments cuz I know whatever the problem is, it’s still not the fault of whoever answered the phone. but obviously, I have to get my point across to address the situation. one can be upset, but certainly not uncivil & rude.
