doodle jump~ thank you for your understanding.

    Amen!

we really tried, but somehow got railroaded at every turn. my husband & I were sick over this the whole engagement & after the wedding, too.

we love all our children & their spouses tho’, so now B’H it’s all good.

explanation: we had wanted to do the same for our 3rd child as we had for our first two… it was done somewhat with takanos. but our machatunim, who also wanted to do for their child as they had for their others, were in a different financial situation than us, & wanted the same grand, huge wedding for their child as the sibs had.

“you have to do the same for each one”: our machatunim’s defense to us & we ended up buried!!! the wedding cost us so much, our next child suffered when he got engaged & then married 5+ months later 🙁

yogibooboo~ pretty much same here.I have no patience for [long] phone calls, & don’t email for fun (only to forward something good I may have received). FB has re-connected me to old friends & relatives, kept me in touch with friends & loved ones across the seas/coasts (Israel, Hawaii, Cali), & also allowed me to share pix of our family & our simchas. I comment when I want to, but ‘chat’ more here in the CR.

yogibooboo~ wow! impressive! my DH also came home from his shiur @ around 10:30 & so did NOT sweep & mop! I just did this morning (a little); our cleaning help began college & has a full time job so we’re looking for someone new, maybe her roommate. we also have a guy who comes into B’klyn from Newark (started off more as a handyman, now does everything), but he’s veryy undependable.

$10. an hr, plus transportation, & usually a tip.

I smell fried onions! 😉 but to add to the ‘positive shalom bayis stories’: my husband of 33 yrs just complimented me for a delicious supper 🙂

I think the spring’s my favorite season: new-growth, rebirth– trees & grass turning green, blooming flowers… & sunny, temperate days with gentle gusts of wind… oh! I feel a song coming on 😀

‘frei’ means Jewish, not religious/’nisht frim’.. to the best of my knowledge.

I’ll never forget, when I went to enroll my daughter in a BY kindergarten: the administrator said to me: ‘don’t worry, we don’t have the frei here’ (or something to that effect.) that was about 24 yrs ago.. I had been a BT for only about 12 yrs. I had gone with another mother (also a BT), & neither of us enrolled our daughters there. ironically, our girls did end up there a few yrs later.. there was the most wonderful administrator in the former’s place! it was a gr8 school, btw.

600kilobear returns~ I was very against her going to this chiropractor, but her in-laws have their whole family treated by him. don’t get me started!: he’s cured ADD, helped ease childbirth, cured illnesses, & on & on.

our pain management doctor refers to him as a ‘witch-doctor’! :-O

hey, gang! let’s talk instead about my dependency on sleeping pills, almost every night except Fri. nite!

    Health~ I appreciate your comments & suggestions.

    NSAIDs don’t provide her relief.

the chiropractor, who also is an MD, consulted w/ an orthopedist over her MRI.. & said he wouldn’t touch her because of the floating disc fragment… until after she has surgery for it.

surgery is being considered, but her doctor isn’t advising it @ this time.

did you see the dosage she takes? 10-15 mg approx. 4x (sometimes 3x) a day. that’s hardly methodone-type-programs necessary. (not that you suggested it was.)

SHE thinks she has a problem… I personally don’t, but absolutely respect & admire her for wanting to get help.

she hasn’t been consistently on codeine since 17, lest I be misunderstood. she goes on it when her back issues reoccur; otherwise she’s @ the gym 4-5x a wk. she’s a Dean’s List college student, a homemaker, & a budding entrepreneur w/ her husband. she’s not laying around the house all day, or out in the street looking to score.

I am not upset… just trying to explain.

“It’s one thing to say that it’s a chumra that people might want to consider. It’s another thing to say that a husband seeing his wife’s hair is a cause of shalom bayis problems.”

my husband’s most popular line: “oh! did your snood JUST slip off?!”

he says it’s cuz he’s always learning or making brachas….

& btw– it usually does always slip off… 😉 … but I’m not walking around the house like that, I’m on the couch… he’s in another room.

    cum laude~ Thank you.

I’m very proud of her! She doesn’t live @ home, she’s married, & is addressing her problem with the support of her husband. She is seeing a therapist, weekly, whose area of expertise is addiction. Plus, he’s frum to boot.

She also has a pain management doctor who oversees her physical therapist. Unfortunately, she IS dealing with CHRONIC pain, so it’s a very difficult problem. Hashem ya’azor!

Shrek~ you bet it’s a serious problem! but addicts can be secretive & devious, so a family member might not know that there is a problem.. until physical or criminal indications kick in.
