” Whither goest nussach ultimately goes trop.”

Fact: if you go to Moshav Mevo Modi’in, the moshav that R’Shlomo started over 36+ years ago, the epitome of a Carlebach Minyan, you will hear the layning the same as in any other shul.

I had the zechus to be there for a Shabbos back then when R’Shlomo was there, & have been there numerous times subsequently… the most recent was almost 2 yrs ago.

I find your comment uninformed, ignorant-sounding, & an insult! :/

who cares~ “And btw, if your parent is mochel, then you don’t need to!!” whew! I got nervous at the thought that my Torah Practicing Jewish children weren’t considered Torah Practicing Jews!

“(I am the only one in the community who actually had the un-zechus to see Carlebach in action.)”

R’Shlomo, a’h, was a very sweet neshama & an acquaintance of mine & my husband. while we may not agree with how he held, that’s a very mean-spirited comment … but, of course, you’re entitled to your opinion.

Ofcourse~ it is clear to me that aries is speaking about cases ‘personal’ to her; she is not claiming to ‘part the seas’ for the whole world. it’s apparent that she has ‘insider information’ that she uses her discretion on as whether to reveal it or not; she is not claiming any ‘sixth sense’.

kakores hatov to all of you who are trying to make shidduchim.

SJS~ I also have a fear of heights… not like looking out my 2nd floor window, but more like standing at the edge of a canyon, or on the small balcony of a 23 story building. but I love to fly & enjoy looking out the window at takeoff & landing. go figure.

my favorite, makes-me-laugh-right-now-just-to-think-of-it, shtick was having a stiff dog’s harness w/ stiff leash… (like an invisible dog.. get it?)… walking ‘it’ to shul brought simcha to everyone who crossed my path. 😀

    haha… memories..

I remember when I came back from Israel & met my (future) in-laws for the first time: they asked if I had gone to the ‘Koysil” & I didn’t know what they were talking about!

I still say ‘Kotel’; my husband says ‘Koysel’.

    since everybody’s ‘fessin’ up…

I’ve gotten phobic riding in cars, mainly front passenger seat, but especially in vans.. afraid of crashing. (never been in an accident, B’H, bli ayin hora).

a number of years ago I went for behavior modification, but it wasn’t successful cuz I felt like the therapist was using some tv/movie hypnosis-style techniques, & I couldn’t take him seriously. back then it was just vans, but now it’s also cars 🙁

Y.S.G.F.K.~ “why something could be 99 cents and the same thing could be 80 dollars”

the starting BID may be 99 cents, but once people are bidding on the item, the cost (shipping not included) can go up veryyy high. if you’re just starting out there, be careful not to get caught up in the bidding frenzy!

    g’luck 🙂

double standard~ “By partaking in a meal on St. Patty’s your not taking on the holiday, your just eating the food”

meal, food, St. Patty’s: all operative words.

years ago I went to a business St. Patty’s party uptown, with large picture windows overlooking the parade. all the food & hor d’oeuvres & wines were definitely treife. I had a drink & left, as I knew this wasn’t my scene, but for business purposes I had shown my face.

as I said previously (in other words)– I doubt your meal would be kosher; any observant Jews wouldn’t be making this party in the first place. JMO.

I would question the kashrus, as for the main fact of that ‘celebratory’ meal being held for that specific purpose would be suspect.

if it was meat, it’d be a problem.

if it’s flour for Pesach, it’s a problem.

if it’s only plain flour, it shouldn’t be a problem.

if the mashgiach is worth his salt, he’d notice the torn, re-taped bag once he sees the deliveries inside.

“I always knew that if a person remarries for whichever reason, he may not be buried near his first wife when he dies.”

IMO, this is incorrect. my beloved father, A’H, remarried twice after my beloved Mother, A’H, was niftar. he is buried next to her (my Mom).

I am re-married & you had better believe that I am, iy’H after 120, gonna be next to my (now) husband, the father of my children. (and, my husband is not gonna be buried next to his 1st wife!!)
