mom12~ I’m happy it was amazing for him, B’H! thanks for the tip on the dark glasses they hopefully provide.

I didn’t want to rush into it cuz I figured all the cleaning for Pesach would not provide a good atmosphere for healing… OTOH, wouldn’t it be nice to be able to clean for Pesach efficiently w/ good eyesight.

glad to be getting good feedback. .. thank you! 🙂

doodle jump~ in 2008, I went to Israel for 4 months. when I left my B’klyn home we only had those channels; when I returned we had cable. & that was as recent as 2008! .. (now I have no TV).

    thank you, oomis.

my eye doctor said they’d be done about 2 wks. apart.

happy to hear it went so well for your husband, B’H. just curious: were you able to see the cataract (dense?opaque?) prior to his surgery?

my daughters (married) go for the pale pinkish colors, but will go more bold on their toes.

I’m outrageous when I get my few & far between mani-pedi’s. I go for dark– burgundy, rust, etc. … but for my daughter’s wedding I went craazzyy: champagne with a design in black & silver ;-D

Health~ same day, in/out.. it’s still removal of your lens & replacement. how long is the replacement viable? are they gonna need replacement again in 10-15 yrs like my knees? 🙁

I CAN see.. that’s my vision without glasses.. the right eye is 850 w/o glasses. I CAN cross the street/I CAN see… that’s why my hesitation: I’m wondering if I should wait ’til it’s reallyy bad; meanwhile, it’s just like a thin veil over my right eye (to me/it’s not visible to others). my green eyes look absolutely normal to me or anyone else.

    that’s why I’m going for a 2nd opinion. // thanks for your response 🙂

her husband, Ralph, & his brother, Milton, owned Caswell-Massey ~ the oldest pharmacy in America.

AinOhdMilvado~ my father, a’h, used to have a radio/tv repair business.. in the days of tubes.

last year our daughter married a Lubavitcher & their minhag is that all parents & grandparents circle the kallah at the chuppah. my husband’s from a Vishnitz family & refused to participate… he just stood to the side. it sure was crowded under that chuppah!!

(both parents walked our respective child down the aisle).

I would think being catty or speaking loshon hora. in general, giving off a negative vibe.

for ex.- on a date: commenting about other people, negatively or excessively, -or- speaking negatively about a certain group of people (type of Jew) or Rabbi.

also– coming off too high maintenance, or perhaps, not caring enough about how they’re put together.

    THANK YOU for your responses!

aries~ #1. I don’t drive. #2. reading, & just seeing, is like I have a thin veil over my left eye, but it doesn’t seem THAT bad. #3. last yr’s vision in left eye was 1350, this yr. it’s 1800. she said I’m legally blind w/o my glasses 🙁 but I certainly can still see… hence, my dilemna/dilemma.

the.nurse~ it was comforting to read your response, especially cuz this happens to be your area of expertise! I could google it all I want, but somehow coming from a human here, it’s more reassuring. my eye doctor said there’d be improvement in my vision after the surgery, but I’m wondering if I should do it now– when it doesn’t seem THAT bad– or postpone it ’til I REALLY can’t see out of my left eye….

I also have moderate basement corneal dystrophy in said eye.

    I’m in Brooklyn.

specifically– I’m wondering how bad one’s vision need be to have it done. I’m aware that it’s THE most common surgery… but surgery nonetheless. My optometrist recommended it for both my eyes & wanted to perform the surgeries in March. I pushed it off ’til after Pesach (May), but I’m wondering if I should wait until my vision’s a REAL disability. my left eye is twice as bad as my right eye. I plan on going for a second opinion, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to see if I could get some feedback here. ..thanks.

for ex.- being rude to a waiter, -or- cursing while driving in traffic.

I also find this veryy disturbing.

I know an OTD girl who works for minimum wage @ a treif take-out restaurant. when questioned, she said she couldn’t even get a cashier’s job @ many of the (large) Jewish supermarkets. soo sad…

canine~ being arrested it not a joke!!

have you been waiting all this time to hear a juicy tale of woe?

here’s one: I know a young man who was arrested in Israel a few days before Birkat HaChamah… everyone was worried that it would be another 28 yrs until he’d be zoche to recite the bracha.. which would mean he’d be in his 50’s. luckily a Rabbi in the Russian Compound saw him & pulled him outside so that he could say the bracha.

do you want more juicy stories?! like how he was in a cell with 3 arabs, one of whom had a swastika tatoo on his ankle…

is this how you get off?!?! ://

“Many Rebbish families are makpid on not white.”

Of all the weddings I’ve been to, or seen pictures of, I’ve never not seen white; unless you’re speaking of different shades of white: ivory, cream, etc. .. which still all look white.

I’m curious as to what colors you are referencing…

personally, we do NOT daven at a Carlebach minyan.

but with the apparent sinas chinam displayed towards one group of mispallelim, (in this case, Carlebach minyan),I wonder about the tolerance of some towards the davening styles of others that may be unlike that of the poster, i.e. Sephardim, Shomrei Emunim, Lubavitch…

I did not mean to insult anyone, but responded (albeit emotionally) to the presumptiveness of one who seemingly insinuated that trop is compromised because of singing during davening.
