shameful behavior 2x on this man’s part.

maybe something else happened in his life (that day?), but, regardless, his behavior was absolutely unacceptable & uncalled for. such anger shown to your son was inappropriate!

s2021~ no offense, but I think spinning this fairy tale of fantasy is veryyy peculiar; wouldn’t it just be easier to say: “it’s complicated” when a person is inquiring into your personal business?

if the truth gets out, & it usually does, your reputation & credibility will always be suspect and questioned. JMHO.

shopping & buying can try to fill a hole, an emptiness… such as the loss of a loved one, as one example; or a feeling of emptiness like feeling unloved, being in a (somewhat) loveless relationship.

    I thought a thought.

    But the thought I thought

    wasn’t the thought I thought I thought.

If the thought I thought I thought

had been the thought I thought,

I wouldn’t have thought so much.

also, my daughter-in-law is one of 9 children, ka’h… she’s in the middle: 2 older brothers & 2 older sisters had only happiness for her getting married first in the family. now, 9 months later, her oldest brother just got engaged, B’H!

I believe each in his/her own time with the right one, iy’H.

maybe it’s harder if they’re of the same gender.

my younger daughter got married before her brother; he definitely had no problem with it. B’H, he got married 5 months later, tho’.

getting an aliyah to the Torah for your birthday is a gedolim thing?! hmmm… maybe it’s just a Chassidishe thing? cuz my husband & sons always (try to) get aliyahs for their birthdays. or maybe a Lubavitch thing, cuz we have shiychus…

eclipse~ it sounds rude, I guess, but more so disrespectful? but I think it’s just a way of not giving credence to the person’s unwanted advice. why would one give you more unwanted advice if you just basically put a ‘the end'(‘talk to the hand’) sign to the conversation? it’s showing that you have no interest in what was said, & that seems to be encouragement enough for no further convo.

it may seem harsh, but the example you gave was of a veryyy rude (passive-aggressive) yenta! :/

gift certificate to a seforim store.. $10, $18, more if you’re able, depending on your budget & how many rebbes/morahs you have to get for.

or, as I said at the top of this thread, hit ’em with a flat ‘yeah, whatever’ > that’s a conversation ender right there! it’s the verbal equivalent of turning your back and walking away.

ppd is a real depression brought on by, most probably, great hormonal changes. altho’ of course proper diet, sufficient sleep ( hmmm. is that possible?), cleaning help , & of course the husband’s support (& exercise could help) are all beneficial to any woman who has just given birth, I think it’s deeper than that & needs to be treated by a doctor/therapist. take a warm bath or a refreshing shower…

look out the window, watching trees in the breeze, cloud formations, <finding the beauty in even the smallest things in Hashem’s world!>, general distractions in the street.(if you can’t get out for a walk).

personally, if feeling anxiety, I’d take a xanax.. but that’s me.
