always hereParticipantthankful today that my DH made us lunch.
thankful to hear that my younger daughter’s coming for Shabbos.
Goq~ hoping to hear about continued improvement in your health; feel better! 🙂
edit: haha! I went ‘thankful’ today instead of ‘grateful’. hmmm…
grateful my DH made us lunch 😉
always hereParticipanthope you got a good night’s sleep! 🙂
lazy? .. so not, according to your posts. 🙂
I’m smiling, too, B’H! 🙂

always hereParticipantthanks, eclipse =]
always hereParticipantuh-uh.
always hereParticipantI don’t have spider veins, only a beaut of a varicose running from my left knee down my inner calf a bit. had it for many yrs., got worse after childbirths. add on the knee replacement, prominent heel spur, arthritic big toe .. & you wonder why I can’t stand? same issues on my right leg, except no varicose vein, B’H.
veryy draining, heavy feeling in my legs… waahhh 🙁
is this TMI?!
always hereParticipantGoq~ refuah sheleima b’karov!!
always hereParticipantthis Yiddishe mama just told her Yiddishe cleaning girl to relax big time.. ’til Sunday 🙂

always hereParticipantlet’s see…
-sea shell collection from Oregon, Washington, & Israel… just recently passed them on to my 2 grandsons.
-stamps: U.S. first day covers & gold stamp replicas; Israeli first day covers. … stopped collecting a number of years ago.
-magnets & elongated pressed souvenir pennies, & coffee mugs from places I’ve visited.
-coin cups from Vegas & A.C. casinos, & casino membership cards.
-Haggadahs
-cookbooks, that I never use anymore.
-some button pins
always hereParticipantI can’t believe that now my son’s asking if I’m the one who commented on that YWN article!!!!!!! I made such an innocuous comment! :-O
always hereParticipantthanks for the update, Zees.. hoping to hear continuous news of a good night’s shluff 🙂
always hereParticipantI’m grateful for my cheery cleaning girl working so hard & thoroughly in my bedroom 🙂
always hereParticipantcherrybim~
#1. so that no one thinks it’s dairy?
#2. ’tis that not a choking hazard tho’?
right now I have ‘Blue Diamond Natural, Almond Breeze’ in my ‘fridge that my daughter-in-law brought over for herself. it’s O-U; dunno if they have it kosher for Pesach.
always hereParticipantwhy did I think this was gonna be a forum on spider & varicose veins?! 😉
always hereParticipant“BasYisroel94~ you don’t say!! 😉 lol” … when I wrote that, your comment box was empty.
as far as the Yiddish translation, the song has it’s own website, & by ‘lyrics’ it asks if you want an English translation of the Yiddish, but it came out very inaccurate.(maybe it wasn’t the site asking, but my computer program? dunno).
veteran~ I disagree with your opinion that the video “claim(s) to understand Hashem’s intentions”. it was noted that the filming took place 2 days before the earthquake. while I believe the video would have lost nothing if the tsunami footage had been omitted, I personally just saw those few seconds as a timely reference only. in fact, I had to watch it a 2nd time to see what people were making such a big deal over. jmho.
always hereParticipantmy left eye is twitchin’! ;- O
thanks, Goq~ for the recognition on another thread. yes, I’m here 🙂
always hereParticipant“But why when you go to get a blessing from a Rabbi or Talmid Chacham for help finding your zivug, he tells you that you already passed her up, you thought she wasn’t pretty or had a big nose or whatever.”
I thought that was one particular story, with an OLD bachur… passed up his zivug cuz she had a big nose.
I don’t think this is the usual bracha one gets from a Rebba for a shidduch… I would think it would be more along the lines of ‘hatzlacha rabbah!’ or ‘b’shaa tova!’
always hereParticipant“there are women mods” .. wow! surprised! plural, yet 😉
always hereParticipantR’Apflebaum made my daughter’s shidduch 8 yrs ago.. I think back then they were #82. funny, he knew the boy.. but I never knew how he got my daughter’s name. lo chashuv… Baruch Hashem!
always hereParticipantwow! powerful.. & beautifully written!
always hereParticipant“Apologies? Neh! We were just explaining!” .. ditto. not to worry, Wolf 🙂
always hereParticipantZeesKite~ I hope you’re not serious about getting only an average of 2.75 hrs of sleep a night! please get more sleep so you’ll be in your very best, tiptop shape! physically & mentally, you’re not doing your body/mind any good; in fact, sleep deprivation can have adverse effects on you. hoping to hear some good, refreshed news from you soon!! TIA.

speaking of calm… or not, as the case may be: my DH is getting a little freaked out that our house isn’t gonna be fully cleaned chometz-free in time for Yontif. I’m actually a little concerned, even tho’ he’s like this every year. I purposely asked him to look on the calendar & tell me when the 1st night of Pesach is (April 18th), & in the same breath he told me that the end of this week is April 1st already.
for at least the last 2 or 3 yrs. we’ve been finished with the kitchen a good few days, (a couple at the very least), before the Bedekes. our home now is progressing at a good pace, B’H.
hmmm, maybe’s he’s going with the glass half-empty theory? I KNOW we will iy’H be ready, but I feel now that I havta soothe his soul.
maybe I’d try aries’ hand-holding exercise with him, but it’s not his style… maybe a variation: speaking calmly straight into his eyes.
always hereParticipant‘There is a inyan by chasidim to davkah eat gebrokts on shmini shel pesach to show that its only a minhag and not halacha.’
deiyezooger~ thirded … us, too.
March 29, 2011 10:56 pm at 10:56 pm in reply to: Wonder Baker: Anyone know where to get one? #759321always hereParticipantwhen I searched on ebay for ‘wonder baker’ I only saw one ‘vintage 50’s’.
always hereParticipanthaha, tbt! I wouldn’t leave cuz of that, nor change my screen name. I’m open & honest about everything, here & IRL, so I have nothing to be embarrassed about. & she already knows I’m blabby.. & loves me no matter what 🙂 … now my DH on the other hand… that would be an ‘oy’!!
always hereParticipanthaha! I just was BUSTED by my daughter! she’s the one who introduced me to the YWN site.
I had written a comment on one of the news articles on the YWN home page, & she asked me (on facebook) if I’m ‘always here’. then she said: ” i hope you don’t mind i found you out on CR!!! did you write very personal things? i really dont go on there, but maybe now i will!! j/k”. hmmm…
always hereParticipantwe (this B’klyn family) get our matzah from Montreal.
always hereParticipantMod~ you took the words right outta my mouth (keyboard) 😉
always hereParticipantmy shvigger, a’h, used to make raisin wine … and, of course, borsht.
always hereParticipanta wonder baker looks rather like a tube pan (like for an angel cake or a Bundt pan); [unlike a bundt, some come with a fitted lid that has several vents or holes, all around its circumference]. it sits on a flat metal ring that is meant to be used as a heat-distributor that is placed on a gas flame. & you bake on a very low flame. thus, it’s something like a stove-top oven for people who have kitchen burners but not an oven. we always used it exclusively to bake cakes.
I’m a little surprised to hear that they’re discontinued, but actually not so much… there is such a variety of Pesach cakes sold these days, albeit pricey.
my shvigger, a’h, always baked a wonder baker cake for my DH as his birthday is the 2nd day of Pesach. after she was niftar, I &/or my daughters would bake him one or more… always a challenge/tricky cuz the cake’s made from eggs that if not whipped up properly & baked properly, has an eggy-custard consistency. for the last couple of yrs. I’ve bought a shmancey looking store-bought for him, but he appreciates much more the wonder baker cake my (married)daughter makes for him.
& glad for the info, ursula.. as now I know, for sure, to give the remaining 2 wonder bakers I have to my other daughter & d-i-l. maybe you should check the housewares stores in BP? I don’t know Willi @ all; in Flatbush- the Buzz? g’luck.
always hereParticipantI was wondering what exactly ‘blocked’ entails… is it that the posts that exist already say ‘blocked’ under the person’s screen name, & that they’re not allowed to post anymore (under that name)??
always hereParticipantm in Israel~ I was just telling my cleaning girl yesterday how I remember: when my children were small, giving them a pail of soapy water to wash down the moldings in the long hallways .. cheerios, cookie & cake crumbs, you name it.
always hereParticipantaha! clever & not convoluted thinking! 🙂
the how: we have a girl who helps clean like once a week or every 2 wks.; but before Pesach, she comes more often. since we do a Pesach spring cleaning- for example: she brings me box or bag of ‘stuff’ [I’m usually on the couch) & I go thru it, see what to toss, etc.
I know Pesach cleaning vs. spring cleaning, but my DH wants it the way he wants it… & food has been eaten in all the rooms throughout the yr. (except bathrooms, of course), so there’s what to do.
B’H, the last couple of yrs. we’ve been ready to turn over the kitchen a good couple of days before Yontif; but we don’t rush cuz we eat chometz until the bedikah. Erev Yontif I do marathon cooking– iy’H I’ll be able to stand long enuf this yr.– of all the fleishigs & some sides for the Sederim & meals.
p.s.– if you remember from another post, it’s not just my back 🙁 but you’d probably never even know anything’s bothering me if you met me.. that’s not the vibe I give off 🙂
have a gr8 day!
always hereParticipantwe do a Pesach spring cleaning… 1 bedroom finished today. B’H! 🙂
always hereParticipantbinahyeseira… much appreciated!!! 😀
always hereParticipantsooo sweet! I came back a few minutes ago … had to comment that I’m a lefty before all the other comments took over the page 😉
btw– it wasn’t cleaning comments (oy! that I know of!?), ’cause sadly I don’t clean much anymore, due to physical issues.
thank you, binahyeseira… I’m really touched.. in the head, oops! I mean in my heart. 😀
always hereParticipantthank you for your kind words, y’all 🙂
my evil twin had a meltdown last night… inexplicably.
please excuse!
always hereParticipantyou can count me in! yay, lefties 🙂
always hereParticipantI’m really getting turned off to the CR by some people’s chumras & trying to push their trips, & being unnecessarily hurtful in the process.
it’s not nice to bum someone out by saying things like:
“Therefore there is no mekor for doing a Mezinka tanz other than ‘minhag hagoyim’.” … what’s the point of saying that, after I happily said we had (obviously a version of) the mezinka @ our child’s wedding?… to make me feel like a shiksha?!
there have been other things said, too.. but this one was out & out derogatory. :/
sorry– I had to vent.
I think I’m checkin’ outta here for awhile.
P.S.
Goq~ if you see this, don’t forget to count my secret ballot! 😉
always hereParticipantmy daughter turned me onto YWN… then I starting reading in the CR.
always hereParticipantpopa_~ “Cool. I just saw that for the first time. Still, it seems contrived to me.” … I agree w/ you.
always hereParticipantsorry to say, but the CR has me feeling anxious from some of the thread postings today 🙁
I’m goin’ to youtube to watch some Rebbishe mitzvah tantzes… that’ll calm me 🙂
