I don’t have spider veins, only a beaut of a varicose running from my left knee down my inner calf a bit. had it for many yrs., got worse after childbirths. add on the knee replacement, prominent heel spur, arthritic big toe .. & you wonder why I can’t stand? same issues on my right leg, except no varicose vein, B’H.

veryy draining, heavy feeling in my legs… waahhh 🙁

“BasYisroel94~ you don’t say!! 😉 lol” … when I wrote that, your comment box was empty.

as far as the Yiddish translation, the song has it’s own website, & by ‘lyrics’ it asks if you want an English translation of the Yiddish, but it came out very inaccurate.(maybe it wasn’t the site asking, but my computer program? dunno).

veteran~ I disagree with your opinion that the video “claim(s) to understand Hashem’s intentions”. it was noted that the filming took place 2 days before the earthquake. while I believe the video would have lost nothing if the tsunami footage had been omitted, I personally just saw those few seconds as a timely reference only. in fact, I had to watch it a 2nd time to see what people were making such a big deal over. jmho.

“But why when you go to get a blessing from a Rabbi or Talmid Chacham for help finding your zivug, he tells you that you already passed her up, you thought she wasn’t pretty or had a big nose or whatever.”

I thought that was one particular story, with an OLD bachur… passed up his zivug cuz she had a big nose.

I don’t think this is the usual bracha one gets from a Rebba for a shidduch… I would think it would be more along the lines of ‘hatzlacha rabbah!’ or ‘b’shaa tova!’

speaking of calm… or not, as the case may be: my DH is getting a little freaked out that our house isn’t gonna be fully cleaned chometz-free in time for Yontif. I’m actually a little concerned, even tho’ he’s like this every year. I purposely asked him to look on the calendar & tell me when the 1st night of Pesach is (April 18th), & in the same breath he told me that the end of this week is April 1st already.

for at least the last 2 or 3 yrs. we’ve been finished with the kitchen a good few days, (a couple at the very least), before the Bedekes. our home now is progressing at a good pace, B’H.

hmmm, maybe’s he’s going with the glass half-empty theory? I KNOW we will iy’H be ready, but I feel now that I havta soothe his soul.

maybe I’d try aries’ hand-holding exercise with him, but it’s not his style… maybe a variation: speaking calmly straight into his eyes.

a wonder baker looks rather like a tube pan (like for an angel cake or a Bundt pan); [unlike a bundt, some come with a fitted lid that has several vents or holes, all around its circumference]. it sits on a flat metal ring that is meant to be used as a heat-distributor that is placed on a gas flame. & you bake on a very low flame. thus, it’s something like a stove-top oven for people who have kitchen burners but not an oven. we always used it exclusively to bake cakes.

I’m a little surprised to hear that they’re discontinued, but actually not so much… there is such a variety of Pesach cakes sold these days, albeit pricey.

my shvigger, a’h, always baked a wonder baker cake for my DH as his birthday is the 2nd day of Pesach. after she was niftar, I &/or my daughters would bake him one or more… always a challenge/tricky cuz the cake’s made from eggs that if not whipped up properly & baked properly, has an eggy-custard consistency. for the last couple of yrs. I’ve bought a shmancey looking store-bought for him, but he appreciates much more the wonder baker cake my (married)daughter makes for him.

& glad for the info, ursula.. as now I know, for sure, to give the remaining 2 wonder bakers I have to my other daughter & d-i-l. maybe you should check the housewares stores in BP? I don’t know Willi @ all; in Flatbush- the Buzz? g’luck.

I was wondering what exactly ‘blocked’ entails… is it that the posts that exist already say ‘blocked’ under the person’s screen name, & that they’re not allowed to post anymore (under that name)??

m in Israel~ I was just telling my cleaning girl yesterday how I remember: when my children were small, giving them a pail of soapy water to wash down the moldings in the long hallways .. cheerios, cookie & cake crumbs, you name it.

aha! clever & not convoluted thinking! 🙂

the how: we have a girl who helps clean like once a week or every 2 wks.; but before Pesach, she comes more often. since we do a Pesach spring cleaning- for example: she brings me box or bag of ‘stuff’ [I’m usually on the couch) & I go thru it, see what to toss, etc.

I know Pesach cleaning vs. spring cleaning, but my DH wants it the way he wants it… & food has been eaten in all the rooms throughout the yr. (except bathrooms, of course), so there’s what to do.

B’H, the last couple of yrs. we’ve been ready to turn over the kitchen a good couple of days before Yontif; but we don’t rush cuz we eat chometz until the bedikah. Erev Yontif I do marathon cooking– iy’H I’ll be able to stand long enuf this yr.– of all the fleishigs & some sides for the Sederim & meals.

p.s.– if you remember from another post, it’s not just my back 🙁 but you’d probably never even know anything’s bothering me if you met me.. that’s not the vibe I give off 🙂

    have a gr8 day!

I’m really getting turned off to the CR by some people’s chumras & trying to push their trips, & being unnecessarily hurtful in the process.

it’s not nice to bum someone out by saying things like:

“Therefore there is no mekor for doing a Mezinka tanz other than ‘minhag hagoyim’.” … what’s the point of saying that, after I happily said we had (obviously a version of) the mezinka @ our child’s wedding?… to make me feel like a shiksha?!

there have been other things said, too.. but this one was out & out derogatory. :/

    sorry– I had to vent.

I think I’m checkin’ outta here for awhile.
