“HLM:I beleive you can’t be angry with lively (happy) music. Even if you’re really NOT in the mood and want to be angry, hearing that music forces (well, at least me) not to be mad.”

same for me. I only get angry very rarely, B’H. music does the trick for me, too.

altho’ at the 2nd Seder, when someone had drunk too much & grabbed for another bottle of wine (my fave), after being told not to drink anymore, I did yell at him to put it down. even my son-in-law said that he’s never heard me yell before.

I also thought maybe he had just spaced out & just happened to be looking in your direction/at your stuff; or, just something to do while being bored waiting on line.

& bpt~ I always get a kick outta those peeps who ‘shake’ the container to feel if there are a lot or a few tickets.

I’ve been in a raffle where I was one of three tickets & lost… & one of possibly thousands (NCSY) & won.

Goq~ seriously. did you expect me NOT to chime in on this topic, lol? 😉

my experience: when I had a good quantity of tickets, I used to bring my own mailing labels; if they were large, I’d cut them down @ home. once, I actually brought scissors w/ me to an auction, lol! another two times, I ripped them smaller by hand @ the auction. lately I, more often than not, just do my orders online, but when I do attend a select few in person, I write out the tickets, cuz I’m dealing with a smaller quantity.

the only way I can imagine trying to use labels to one’s advantage would be: that they’d be ‘heavier’ & the ‘picker’ reaches down towards the bottom?

as we know, folded tickets are disqualified; but I knew someone who I thought was sort of bending the edge down a little?? I considered that cheating. that same person seems to always wait ’til the last moment to place in her tickets… I’m sure that’s a strategy in her mind. <selicha!!>

no matter what, I never put in more than one ticket per prize. I am a firm believer that if it’s meant for you to win, you will.

actually, to elaborate on my 9/11 morning:

I had our sort of old ‘cleaning man’ who speaks limited English over. throughout the morning I’m freaking out over the news & telling him in simple English, limited Spanish, Spanglish, hand motions, etc. what’s going on blow-by-blow… all morning long. then comes about noon & he calls his brother & comes back to tell me:’ did you hear about what happened?!’.. I literally wanted to bang my head against the wall that I had apparently been speaking to all morning!! :-O

9/11~ I was listening to the radio @ home.. paying close attention cuz I had just entered one of their contests & wanted to hear if I had won & if they were going to play the song I had requested.

5/1~ I was down the block from my house @ a Sheva Brachas. I heard one of the men say ‘Bin Laden’s been killed’ & one of the other women said: ‘no, it was Gadaffi’s son.’ ..didn’t give it another thought (cuz I had already read about that here on YWN) ’til I got home & turned on my computer.
