always hereParticipantthey make beautiful glass plaques with the name engraved as well.
always hereParticipant“said “thank you for keeping us safe” to all the soldiers, sailors, and marines that we saw.” … you’re my kind of gal 🙂
always hereParticipantmy son-in-law in CB kollel is Litvish; my grandsons in CB’s pre 1-A & 1st grades learn their Evrit with a Chassidishe accent/pronunciation in yeshiva.
always hereParticipantI, personally, would PLOTZ if a man, especially a very frum looking one, told me something about my appearance that would embarrass me.
OTOH, I would greatly appreciate it if a woman would tell me.
always hereParticipantminyan gal~ I tend to agree with you.
(speaking for nowadays….)
I am giving the gift to the couple, not the parents.
that the parents for some reason didn’t give to my children doesn’t come into play.
I do not give according to what the affair is costing the parents… but if I know that making the affair is a real hardship on the parents, I try to give a little more to the couple.
always hereParticipantZeeskite~ as I’ve said before, I have 2 sons that were OTD, but are back now B’H. I find this thread title & most of the subsequent posts amusing.
always hereParticipantmy 2 oldest grandchildren, both 6 3/4 y.o. ka’h, are here.
& my son-in-law is assembling beautiful dining room chairs for me.
always hereParticipantGetting Places Somehow(or other).
“G-D’S Protection System” .. definitely in East Jerusalem or the likes!!
always hereParticipantsmileyface136~ I agree 100%, just an innocent play on words
always hereParticipantbasket of radishes~ ROTFL!

I said on another thread that I thought I’m the oldest female poster here.
my oldest son is 32 ka’h; my youngest daughter is 22 ka’h.
but trust me.. I’m waayyy cool if I do say so myself 😉 .. feel free to test me.. just not too much memory stuff ;-P
May 29, 2011 5:44 pm at 5:44 pm in reply to: what was your first memory and how old were you? #778617always hereParticipantsmartcookie~ thank you for bringing back my earliest memory!!

when I was in kindergarten (age 5?) my teacher stapled her finger & I remember her bloody finger…I can still see her clearly in my mind’s eye standing there. … 1956?! :-O
May 29, 2011 4:30 pm at 4:30 pm in reply to: what was your first memory and how old were you? #778613always hereParticipantmy early ‘memories’ are definitely because of photos, but I remember a birthday party for me under a big tree in the country: my age was probably between 6/7-10?
always hereParticipanthmmm.. I’m confused [what else is new?].. I don’t recall having a thread that was deleted.
Not necessarily your thread. When we delete a thread, all the posts on that thread go into deleted.
always hereParticipantoops! I stand corrected. *ouch*
always hereParticipantI would guess that I have less than 1/2 dozen deletes.. am I correct? …thank you
incorrect. Keep in mind some of them are where a whole thread was deleted. 1118/60
always hereParticipant“what are brains for?”
eating .. sweetbreads 😉
always hereParticipant“If a car goes off the derech, do you give it to Oorah?”
I should’ve saved my laugh for this comment … as opposed to the thread title.
always hereParticipanthahahahahahaha 😉
always hereParticipant“I’m with asyyeger on this one — if I have to go back and get something after I pay, that’s what I do, just to prevent any mis-impressions.” … same here.

I dunno about senderav, but I use ‘howdy & y’all’. I was born in Brooklyn, & have been in many states across the US, but in the South I’ve only been to a few places in Fl., like Walt Disney World 😉 ha ha
always hereParticipantadorable~ excuse me, but where did I say I was ‘JUST watching TV’?!
the line above says: ‘playing, reading…’ … saying that my young son & I watched one show that we both enjoyed, where someone creates a nature landscape in 1/2 hr., hardly precludes us doing many more activities together. in addition ‘baby belly’ implies I was pregnant. & why then, would it mean I should have a babysitter?!
mademoiselle, I’m sorry, but you presume too much.
hope I don’t sound harsh… 🙂
always hereParticipantthanks for fixing 🙂 ..so speedily!
always hereParticipantyes, TY Mods/Editor for all your help.. but why is my comment in the “Israel Sem’ thread still in yellow?! please respond, ty.
always hereParticipantmy oldest daughter went to BYA’s sem in Israel about 9 yrs ago. I don’t remember how many thousands of dollars it cost, but she got a gov’t financial scholarship thru it being a Touro program. when she returned, she worked part-time while going to Touro for her Bachelors & Masters & paid the rest off… it was very doable, B’H.
always hereParticipantI agree 100% with a ‘like’ button!!
always hereParticipantoomis & aries~ I do believe I’m the oldest female CR poster here. I’m just sayin’…
waaahhhh 😉
always hereParticipantOP, sorry I missed your 2nd sentence.
I LOVED being home with my children!!! playing, reading…
my 24 y.o. son still fondly remembers sitting on my ‘baby belly’ lap @ 2 1/2 y.o. watching ‘the mister who paints’ (Bob Ross) on tv. 🙂
always hereParticipantmy husband tried teaching me to drive 33 years ago when I was pregnant with my Bachor.. never happened.
I’m a very poor passenger as well :/
I used to dream of driving down to Sheepshead Bay in a convertible with my hair blowing in the wind. (real dreams… during sleep).
always hereParticipantif you win a prize, the amount of money you would have been willing to spend on it is deducted from the maaser amount you donated… you can’t count it as maaser.
I don’t think I’m being clear on the halacha. sorry :/ [help?!]
always hereParticipanthow could I have forgotten latkes?!?!?!?! yum
May 24, 2011 10:44 pm at 10:44 pm in reply to: Paging Always Here the resident auction expert #818460always hereParticipanta number of auctions give you a choice of gifts for certain amounts of donations.
some give a small gift with your admission fee upon entrance.
always hereParticipantaries~ you’re reminding me of my (younger) sister! she’s always saying ‘do you have a plan?’ & ‘be proactive’.
always hereParticipantadorable~ niiiiice 🙂
always hereParticipant=]
always hereParticipantm in Israel~ so happy for you!! 🙂
my babysitting my grandchildren was cuz my daughter’s a full-time teacher & my son-in-law is still in Kollel (almost 8 yrs. now).
always hereParticipantoy! Goq~ I just saw you posted this 3 hours ago!!!! I apologize for not seeing it earlier & responding! :-O
always hereParticipantLOL Goq!! 😀
these days, when money is tighter, I also sometimes just put in for the jackpot… I figure if it’s meant to be, then I’ll win. (I haven’t). you have just as much of a chance to win as anyone else… if that’s what Hashem decided for you on Rosh Hashana & sealed on Hoshana Rabba.
as I said on other threads, I haven’t won ANYTHING in over 2 yrs now. but in 2009, @ one auction, I won 4 prizes.. 2 were jackpot. (one kosher Colorado trip & one bridal gown rental).
you havta give maaser anyway, so take the chance 🙂
always hereParticipantI hate speeding, even with a good driver! :/
always hereParticipantmy DH would laugh if you called me a homemaker.
I worked for much of my married life. For my first 2 children it was veryy hard: from Flatbush, I took them by car svc,- an infant & toddler – to a babysitting service in BP, then took the express bus to Manhattan; did the reverse coming home.. for 2 weeks out of the month for a year or so. stayed home for a few years, then worked walking distance from my home when the younger two were already in school.
stopped working in 2001, but started babysitting full-time for my newborn grandson in 2004.. then another grandson.. then a granddaughter. retired again, lol, when she started school @ 2 1/2 y.o. this past Sept. but I still babysit as needed.. I have my 2 grandsons, 6 1/2 & 5 1/2 ka’h, over my house right now 🙂
always hereParticipantIMO, 2 yrs. 6 mos.
always hereParticipantursula momish~ =]
coffee addict~ sorry I didn’t respond earlier to your post, which is true. Health usually has plenty to say to me 😉
always hereParticipantnottelling~ as I said: you calling me by my complete SN threw me off… I don’t wanna embarrass myself now with an incorrect guess 😉
always hereParticipantgirl22~ I’m veryy chill & I think it’s inappropriate… even if he said the alcohol would be outta his system before he had to drive you home.
always hereParticipantoy! I thought this thread was on ODing (overdosing) on the CR .. (note: not IN the CR).
