apushatayid- We’re talking about people that b’h have very good control….there’s no reason not to go ahead with a shidduch if they take care of themselves and have good A1c’s.

reb- okay, I dont really want to post too many details here ..im sure you can understand but just to calm you down ill give you a bit 🙂 After I told him he did think about it for a couple of days..but then eventually bh came back with the answer 🙂 He is a typical Yeshiva guy (learning in Lkwd-hope that doesnt give him away JK LOL!) so I dont think that Yeshiva guys are less open to such a thing..it depends on the particular boy. The right person and good person can look beyond the D and see whats inside…

Dont ever worry that your shidduch will be affected negatively because of the D cuz that’s not possible. Hashem runs the world and He is in charge of bringing two people together no matter what!!

(If you ever want/need more details when the time comes iyh we can try to get in touch- I would love to help..encourage etc..)

So, my first shabbos with the pump was awesome!!!! It was so good to just press a few buttons and not havta go up to my room and shoot! I really love it so far! I cant believe that I didnt get it until now but I guess hindsight is 2020! 🙂 🙂

dx3- I keep the pod on my abdomen and its totally not noticeable. My sister asked me why I wasnt wearing it on shabbbos cuz she couldnt see it LOL! 🙂 How’s it going with the sensor?

C’mon Princess, of course im still staying positive!!! Are you kidding??! 🙂 🙂

Of course it can get difficult but we have to remind ourselves that right now this is what Hashem wants from us. He wants to see that we care about ourselves and about the body He gave to us and He will help us through it. Just show him that you are trying- but REALLY trying!! Keep davening and keep SMILING!!!

Dont give up trying becuase once you do itll be hard to gather all that motivation up again… you’re doing a lot better than you were when you first joined us over here and just that alone is great!! Keep it up and im praying for ya!!!

coffee- well I saw it when the rep came so I knew what it was gonna look like. Im gonna call the trainer tomorrow iyh. Not sure when she’ll be able to come…they want to start me on insulin right away as opposed to the saline first so im excited cuz that means that when I start i really START!!! Im really excited! cant wait to not have to have these sharps containers :))) (ill stil have them i guess but they wont fill up as fast:)

Do you use the PDM to test your Blood sugars or you use a seperate meter? cuz the medical supply company that my insurance deals with sent me a seperate freestyle meter besides for the PDM? I dont know why?

reb- Oy! I really feel for you..its so upsetting when you expect it to be a certain number and then its waay higher than that 🙁

Let me ask you, what was your last HgA1c? Was it lower than 8.3? Can you think of anything different that you’ve been doing that could have made such a difference?

Personally, I found that the times when my HgA1c was higher it was becuase my overnight numbers weren;t so good. I think overnight numbers have the biggest impact on overall Hga1c…what do you think?

Just keep strong and know that you can do it!! 🙂 I’m rooting for you reb!!!

sweet- I dont think the girls fam has any rite to be upset. He did exactly what he was told to do according to da’as torah. If they dont want to go ahead with the shidduch they dont have to but they certainly have no right to talk about it with everyone. Also, once your at a point where your ready to tell it means there is some “sort” of relationship beginning to form (I am speaking for those who date) and if that’s the case the other party will be likely to consider you even though there’s this “issue” becuase they can overlook it when comparing it to your middos, personality etc.

happens to be that I have a relative who went out with a boy with D. After the third date the shadchan called her mother to tell that the boy’s side wants to tell them that he has D..etc. In the end they didnt go ahead with the shidduch but I wonder if the boy would have told her directly what would have happened…obviously this was what was bashert but just a thought….sometimes its good to hear it from the source..

    sorry for the long post!

I agree with reb and coffee- when your dealing with something that could potentialy be a lifelong partnership you should want to be open with eachother and it also feels good to get it off your chest on your own.

k everyone let me tell you that I am absolutely no Malach! I am a very normal, fun, regular Baiy yakov girl that works on being positive and happy 🙂 Trust me I have my times too when I am not so happy but I really work hard to minimize them. I will say that I probably wasnt always this way (although being happy is part of my nature) and I think that diabetes has made me into a much more positive person. You have to look for the good and then you see it. The thing that makes you strong is really davening and being able to SPEAK to Hashem and tell Him how you feel and just ask him to run your life in the best way possible for you bec only He knows what the best way is!!

(maybe when i wrote tmy last post I was in a very very good mood but definitely shidduchim is the hardest! I admit!!)

princess- 1 to 7 soundsl like it should probably be a good ratio. But Do u mind if I ask you how much you weigh?? I’m pretty small 5″2 and around 115 pounds. I use 1 per 10. I dont know how much you weigh but it is possible that you need 1 per 5. In either case it sounds to me like counting carbs is the crux of the problem here becuase your saying that ur basal works when your not eating and as soon as you eat you shoot up!

When you say you took LOTS of insulin for supper How much did you take and what did you eat? try to give me EXACT numbers if possible. (btw I agree with coffee, I also see a change in ur attitude 🙂 KEEP it UP!!! YOU CAN DO IT! YOU CAN DO IT!! :)))

princess- Awesome attitude!! Keep it up 🙂 So im glad that your taking more insulin but you NEED to figure out ur ratio cuz guessing is going to get frustrating if you dont have a set amount of insulin that you give for every gram of carbs. Also, if your working with a ratio you wont feel like ur taking so much insulin trust me. K so my ratio is 1 unit insulin for every 10 grams of carbs. So if I eat sandwich of 2 slices of whole wheat bread. There are approx 15 carbs in each slice= 30 grams= 3 units. What wld u do in such a case?

princess- Love the poem!! Thanks so much 🙂 Ur too cute!

so down to business with you, I really want to help you: which one of my options do you think is the correct one. Is it the insulin to carb ratio or the not counting carbs properly? What is your current ratio??

sweet- wow! ur story is really scary!!! I lost like 15 pounds and when hatzala came to my house they told my mother that I am annorexic too but my mother was like “No way!! I know my daughter she’s never had a weight problem and she’s not annorexic!!” he insisted and thought my mother was nuts…Baruch hashem she wasn’t. I’d rather be D than annorexic :))

Lil Sally- Here ill write it again for you dont know what page its on:) I didnt go on a pump cuz I was diagnosed at 18 yrs old and wanted to keep it a secret. It wasnt really a danger for noone to know about it and I thought I can keep a quieter secret that way -which I did. So bh noone knows about my D and I am now glad to be getting off of injections
