Many Yeshivos have “yeshiva” over Shavuos. I believe most Yeshivos would have dancing at night after Maariv and before the night meals (that’s what we have when I was in Yeshiva).
AlizgitParticipantA “Chaver” is a very important distinction in the context of Trumos and Massros as well as tumah. Possibly (l’fi aniyas dyti), Rebbi used the same term elsewhere:
(i) for uniformity;
(ii) because if its not a chaver there may be issues like bechor, maaser etc…;
(iii) it was used as that would be whom a person would be doing business with; or
(iv) its pleasant to use a term of endearment as we should think of our business associates and interactions as being among friends (e.g., trust, honesty).March 7, 2017 5:01 pm at 5:01 pm in reply to: Is this a true story? (Rosh Yeshiva hit with car over conflict with butchers) #1222598AlizgitParticipantAlizgitParticipant@RedYidd23 not sure what you’re getting at. Seems to be symantics. In that case, no one is “your” anything unless you own it (under halacha, the Federal Tax Code?) I suppose.

Totally do not know the answer but maybe:
1. Shemitta covered years 1 and 2. Ma’aser Ani (year 3( covered years 4 & 5 but then year 6 would leave extra presumably because year 7 (shemita) is next.
2. Ma’aser kesafim?
AlizgitParticipantAnswering your questions in order:
1. No
2. His peyos are wavy
3. See above
4. Never heard of that
5. Depends, a certain length is halacha, anything more is “minhag”
6. Yes
7. I have of a certain length but not with long hair wrapped behind the ear or twirled in front of the ear that is frequently seen with Chassidim
AlizgitParticipant@UBIQUITIN You cannot tell tone and inflection in text so its hard to tell but I sure hope you are joking. Are you saying that every shul I have even been to that sings Kedushah, et. al., to the tune of “al hanissim” over Shobbas Channukah is doing an issur d’Rabanan or is it a Daraysa?
AlizgitParticipantIt is of up-most importance to vote no matter if you think “your” candidate has a shot where you live or not. Regardless of who wins this go around, the politicians see (with exceptions) which areas/demographics vote.
If they see certain areas of the city have a higher voter turnout they will more readily listen to such areas.
GET OUT AND VOTE!!
AlizgitParticipantHere is my very simple and feeble understanding of such zachen:
Teva is constantly and always affected/changed by the koach Ha’Torah (e.g., klal yisroel learing torah and keeping the mitzvos or, rachmana litzlan, the opposite). Not always in the sense of le’maaleh min hateva outside otf nature, but, within the confines of Hashem’s creation of nature things that would or would not otherwise have occured are “decided” (kavayachol) by our actions or inactions.
Everything we as klal yisroel do has a direct cause and effect on this world (and the upper worlds as well) and there is ZERO happenstance or coincidence in this world. The connection you have made is an intriguing and fascinating one, however, as a word of caution, while we may know that Hashem is the orchestrator of it all, we do not know the cause and effect of any of it.
Therefore, while we do not know WHY Hashem caused this bullfighter to die right after thousands of yidden learned about such a case in Gemara,that does not preclude us from taking mussar and lessons from such an amazing sequence that Hashem performed in front of our eyes.

There is (almost?) not a single example of a pure “yes” or “no” response to any question involving almost any halacha when asked within a broad context, especially one that is wrapped within a plethora of hashkafic questions as well.
AlizgitParticipantI will let you all ponder what would happen to Trump’s view of Jews if his daughter and Mr Kushner (her husband) ever had an falling out and divorce.
