I serve Canard A L’orange (duck) as a main course.
I was thinking something more on the fruity, vegetably or fishy family…..
Aishes ChayilParticipantI use Nivea, I’m much older than you and it works for me!

Aishes ChayilParticipantSJS,
No- you don’t have to find them attractive. However having said that, and considering the role they play in our lives, phrasing it the way you did, is very inappropriate!
Aishes ChayilParticipantOk, allow me to rephrase the part cut out of my post.
How do you explain voicing an opinion such as yours considering the Torah Giants that were mentioned? ( Rav Koppleman from Lucern is also short)
Aishes ChayilParticipantSJSINNY says;
‘I find short men “half-men” – I can’t help it.
As a poster mentioned, Reb Moishe was short, I think Reb Aron Kotler was short .

Forget about the owning part. But as an employee, yes ofcourse you need a doctorate.
Re- F services,
Here s well you must have some sort qualifications. Good marketing is essential, and obviously product knowledge.
The threee basics are 40 per cent effort, 40 percent hard work and 20 per cent luck!

Your missing alot!
Pharmacutical Companies pay their employees very well!. If you own one or invest in one, your probably just as well off, if not more.
By health care providers, I dont just mean Doctors and Nurses.
I mean research companies.
Finally re-Financial services,
I mean advisors, investment brokers are still very much afloat.
When the economy is good, people like to take risks. When its bad, people like to look our for their future. Maybe the level of business is lower in difficult times, but its still goes.

Did you ever hear MBD’s classic ‘Someday….’?
‘Avrohom and Yitzchock will be ther to greet us……’
I’m sure that song was not composed without accuracy as I am sure was Rav Berenbaum’s speech .
Can someone pls explain the discrepency?
Aishes ChayilParticipantsmartcookie,
Good one, lol
I agree with Be Happy, this rings very little truth.
Firstly, I NEVER heard anyone complain about having too much money.
I am sure if you ask a shaila, YOU WILL GET A HETER TO BE ABLE TO GIVE MORE, if its gona cause you grief not to.
There was a case in Europe of someome who gave away 90 per cent of his earnings, without crying about it.
Trust me, if your business involved selling people a story like this, I doubt you would have accumulated such wealth.
Aishes ChayilParticipant‘and do it lovingly with friendship.’
If that person did you sufficinet damage, I dont think your Mechuyov to do it lovingly. Sorry! Telling her off in private is one thing, but sometimes a person has to be sternly criticized for theri behavious.
Aishes ChayilParticipantThe Posek Hador Rav Shmuel halevi Wosner is the PRIME example of Yichus Atzmo.
Born in Vienna to a more modern family, there was a very interesting story.
His mother was a very talented piano player or singer (not sure which). Anyways, she was offered a very prestigious position to perform in public.
The Minchas Eluzer, on a trip to Vienna at the time, told her that if she doesnt accept the job, she will have the zechus to have a son who will eventually be a Gadol Hador!!
Aishes ChayilParticipantBIJKID says;
‘you wish you could b a plain person with a regular last name and know that not e…..
I have news for you (I’m an example) YOU COULD HAVE YICHUS WITH A ‘Regular’ last name (whatever that means, ugh!) because the yichus could come from your mother which means you dont carry the name!!
Aishes ChayilParticipantI am literally PETRIFIED of dogs.
It seems to be a Jewish sickness. Not surprising though as when we see a dog that seems to bother us, we say ‘L’chol Bnei Yisroel…..or ‘hint hint…
Aishes ChayilParticipantTMB,
Your right!;)) But in the context of what the point is with regard to that saying, it alludes that someone without Yichus will always be less, no matter what the yichus atzmo is.
Aishes ChayilParticipantNot I,and Dunno
That saying implies, that someone without yichus can never be more than a 1.
Aishes ChayilParticipantRe- Dovid Hamelech,
There was actually a joke made by a shadchan who wanted to red a shidduch from a simple family to well known people who stemmed from a famous , illustrious Rav of the 19th century .That rav had a yichus briev which traced back to Dovid Hamelech.
When the shadchan suggested the idea, the matriarch of the famous family snubbed it by saying that they would never take such commoners when their famous ancestor can trace back to King David.
The shadchan replied, ‘ Dovid Hamelech was a self made Yichus, he stemmed from Geirim, which means you do to!’
Aishes ChayilParticipantTorahis1 says:
‘Also, can someone clue us litvaks in what this yichus thing is, how close the connection needs to be, and what kind of ancestor makes good yichus.’
What do you mean?Litvaks have yichus, Chassidim, sefardim etc….what do you mean ‘us litvakcs’??
The Goq,and others…
Do you think people with yichus are more arrogant than people who have accumulated an abundance of wealth?
Aishes ChayilParticipantWolf,
Even if your in a taxi wher the music is on. He’s not michuyov to close the music even if you ask him. He is listening for himself.
Aishes ChayilParticipantTo emulate our threee basic charachteristics,
Baishonim
Rachmonim and Gomlei Chasodim.
Aishes ChayilParticipantTMB,
sometimes though, Beis Din gives permission to go to secular court to solve certain issues.
Aishes ChayilParticipantI heard once that Hashem took our Yetzer Hora off avoda zara and put it on money instead.
Its not for nothing that people are obssessed with gambling….
Aishes ChayilParticipantTMB,
Thats a very bad analogy. Your making a sweeping generalization by insinuating that TV has absolutly nothing positive to offer. Thats ridiculous.
If you control the situation properly, at worst, its a time waster!
Aishes ChayilParticipantSJS,
I think what TMB wanted to say was that sometimes watching TV can LEAD to aveiros. Not that it is directly an aveiroh.
Aishes ChayilParticipantI posted something yesterday and for some reason it didnt go through.
Perhaps I didnt word it well.
Why can’t people accept that those who were brought up with a TV, are not more at risk to go off that those who were overly sheltered.
Many times, pressure will lead to a desparate struggle to find out whats going on in the outside world, and with devastating results.
Whereas, when there is a bit (not much but a bit) more freedom, young people dont feel so curious.
Aishes ChayilParticipantHello,
Sefardim do have the minhag of not learning. I was friends with a sefardic girl who’ father didnt learn.
If you will check one of my previous posts, I quoted the reason
Aishes ChayilParticipantRe – Yoshke getting insulted,
I thought he had asked him a question about something in the Talmud and Ben Prachia told him to wait a minute, so J got ticked off that he was being dodged and therefore reacted.
Didnt know it was about a comment with regard to a women’s beauty…
Aishes ChayilParticipantHavemoreseichel and the rest,
The Lubavitcher Rebbe once said, if someone goes around to collect without a shtar, or even if you suspect him of having money, its worth giving a person like that cos something is obviously wrong with him.
Remember, whatever the case, its always better to give than to have to take!
Aishes ChayilParticipantPopa,
I agree with you 100 per cent.
The Torah says ‘Vichay Bohem’. We are not obligated to inflict unpleasant chumros upon ourselves.
Re- The Satmar Rebbe had many chassidim withOUT beards who’s wives obviously did not wear koupkes. He respected those Chassidim. In fact, he once said its not the ‘beard’ in the Jew , but the Jew in the beard.
Aishes ChayilParticipantAs far as triviality is concerned, what about ‘SNOW’
I mean you’d think that someone using the screen name ‘NOTEDASKAN’ would think of something with a bit more Tochen.
Aishes ChayilParticipantI hearD , Nittel means ‘night’.
Whatever the case, does everyone hold that he was the later one?
What was the signifigance of him getting insulted by his rav, if he wasnt the same one?
Aishes ChayilParticipantGoodbye,
which one is the infamous Yoshke , worshipped by the goyim and commemarated on the 25th of December?
December 26, 2010 2:52 pm at 2:52 pm in reply to: When do you starting wishing people Good Shabbos? #721663Aishes ChayilParticipantIn the mizmor l’yom it talks aobut Shabbos on Wednesday
Aishes ChayilParticipantKen Zayn,
Thanks for your post.
However isnt it a fact that Bais Din paskened that he be killed because of his heresy, even if the actual crim was commited by the Romans?
Also, I heard the word Nittel comes from Natala, which means ‘night’ in I think latin or some old language…anyone hear that?
Aishes ChayilParticipantApushatayid
‘Yeshu mentioned in the gemara couldn’t possibly be oso ish the xtians are celebrating. Yeshu of the gemara was a talmid of yehoshua ben prachya (according to the gemara)’
What happened after Yeshu (Ben Prachia’s talmid) apparantly became upset when his Rav derpived him of some atention? It seems that he became hot-headed and turned the other cheek as a result of that.
How do you connect that incident with ‘Osoh Ish’? It would seem to be the same eprson.
Please clarrify….
Aishes ChayilParticipantThe posts are indeed repeating itself.
I’ve been posing for over a year already and I remember a lot of similar or even identical threads.
some are really fascinating but others are a bit trivial.
Aishes ChayilParticipantKen,
Believe me I am an ‘Aishes’ whatever you want to think.
Trust me, there is no KNOWLEGEABLE man on this earth who would want to make anyone believe he is a woman!!!!
Aishes ChayilParticipantShintav,
I was just responding to Ken Zayn’s post , a few above mine…..
Aishes ChayilParticipantKen,
He wasn’t hanged, he was crucified. Wouldn’t that be ‘Skilah’?
Also, if he were a mamzer, how would he be accepted as a talmid? Isn’t a mamzer to be rejected in Kahal Hashem?
Aishes ChayilParticipantDerech Hamelech,
I once heard that one of the reasons men don’t learn on nittel is because then Yoshke’s neshomo comes down in form of an animal or something else, and if he hears divrei Torah he will get a zechus.
In any case, I fail to see how Hitler comes into the equation here.
You can say the same about any deceased who was a Rosho.
With re to KEN ZAYN’s post about Rav Segal ZATZAL, I heard the following story;
One Rav came to visit another rav on nittle and saw that he was learning. He asked him why would he be learning tonite.
The Rav answered, “I would like to see the gehenom I get for learning Torah on Nitel.”
To which the first Rav replied, “I DON’T want to see the gehenom I get for not following the minhag of Tzaddikim like the Chasam Sofer and others who said not to learn.”
At that moment the Rav who was learning closed his sefer right away.
A minhag breaks a din!
Aishes ChayilParticipantWolf:
“Based on that reasoning, should we also not learn on Adolf Hitler’s* birthday (19 Nissan)?”
How do you compare the two? Yoshke was a learned man. He was a Talmid of one of the the Amoroim (I think Ben Prachia- not sure)if he hears divrei Torah, he will get a zechus. We don’t want that.
Hitler was a simple goy. What would he benefit from hearing people learn?
Aishes ChayilParticipantTMB,
Re- Chasam Sofer,
I once heard,
Another reason he gave was because in his time, goyim would chase after Jews on nittel nacht as we were held responsible for his death.
So he thought it was dangerous to go out to the beis medrash….
Also, some poskim hold that not learning doesn’t apply if nittel falls out on Friday night.
Aishes ChayilParticipantwords that are yelled;
L’chaim
Excuse for not coming to work;
I woke up with a terrrible headache wasnt feeling well!
Aishes ChayilParticipantHello,
The sefardim DO have it.
I had a friend who was sefardi and her father was makpid not to learn
Aishes ChayilParticipantNittel nacht is the 24th of December, Xmas eve.
Many people are makpid not to learn Torah at that specific time for varoious resons. I think the Chasam Sofer gives a reason.
Does anyone know it?
