    I’m from shevet Binyamin.

I refused to let my kid date someone from shevet Gad on the East Bank. It’s too far to go visit, if he ended up living there with those Gadi’s (with all their weird minhagim)!

Ain’t no reason he can’t find a nice Binyamini girl on this side of the river.

Just make sure it is done by a dentist SPECIALIZING in implants.

I have seen the work of some dentists who took a weekend seminar on the subject, and OY GEVALT!

They did not know WHAT they were doing, and the results were terrible.

    BTW – Hummingbird…

They are NOT implanting a tooth, they are implanting a metal post in a hole created in the bone. The bone (hopefully) heals around it and secures it in place.

After that heals, a porcelain crown (fake tooth) is cemented on top of it.

I think one of the BIGGEST problems is, simply, that people are not really honest with each other before they get married.

Possibly not honest about many issues, but most importantly about what their own true hashkafas ARE. What they really ARE, not what they are SUPPOSED to be, or SHOULD be, what they ARE.

They “fake” their hashkafas (maybe even to themselves) to be what they think are what people want to hear.

Why? Because they want to GET married.

They don’t stop to think what the ramifications of this deception will be when they ARE married.

    BIG, BIG, BIG mistake.

Just for laughs, I once followed up on one of those Nigerian type scams.

They wanted me to send them a money order for $500 and they would immediately get out a check to me for $10,000.

I spoke to them on the phone and, acting like a sucker, told them I had gotten the money order and was mailing it out to them.

Guess what? The next day I got their check.

It appeared to be a real check from a real bank in Virginia.

I got the phone number of the bank and called, gave them the account number on the check, and asked if there was money in the account to cover the check.

    What a shock!!!

They told me there was NO money in the account.

Needless to say, I never really sent them, or ever even purchased a money order.

Of course for any of you who might not realize it, the way scam works is that YOU send THEM a money order. THEY send YOU a very large check, which of course, bounces. But, by the time you find that out, they’ve cashed your money order, and they are no where to be found.

    Ofcourse…

I’ve bought Quinoa, the SAME brand sold in the kosher supermarkets/groceries, online from Amazon for a MUCH better price.

I think I had to buy like 4 or 5 bags at once, but it doesn’t spoil and does get used.

    Interesting point about Quinoa…

It’s NOT chametz, so theoretically you could eat it on Pesach, but it might “sorta” fall into the category of kitniyot.

It’s a good question for a posek because it isn’t REALLY kitniyot either, it’s just that (because it originates it South America) we have no mesora about it regarding Pesach.

Not to get off on a tangent, but though the 3rd Reich IS gone,

we know that B’KOL DOR VA’DOR, OMDIM ALAINU L’KALOTAINU.

We see it now with the yishmaelim in general and the iranian hitler specifically.

Hopefully we have learned something from the harsh lesson of the Holocaust about not hiding our heads in the sand when threats to our survival arise.

For me the message we should take to heart is a pasuk in T’hillim…

    Romemot E-l b’gronam, v’cherev pifiyot b’yadam

We need Torah and praises of HaSH-m in our mouths, and a sword (or M-16) in our hands.

My father a”h was an officer in the American army in WW2.

He received two Purple Hearts for being wounded (twice) in combat.

He arrived at Dachau just a few days after it was liberated.

Even for a combat soldier, what he saw there was so traumatic, even with it being a few days after the actual liberation, that he would never talk to me about it.

I think that in itself says a lot about the incomprehensible horrors our people went through.

If you are more an eggs and toast kind of person…

Make two or three egg whites on whole grain bread.

I personally strongly recommend Stern’s 12 grain bread.

It is really delicious and very crunchy due to the whole grains in it, so it is very filling.

You can put a slice of fat-free or low fat cheese on it if you like, and again…

I would suggest sprinkling on some chia seeds on the eggs, as explained above.

Make a bowl of Quinoa instead of cereal.

It has a very low glycemic index, meaning it releases its carbs, i.e. energy, very slowly.

If you like sweet, you can mix in Splenda or Equal, and you can add blueberries, cranberries, or whatever fruit you like.

    It IS delicious.

*Also to delay hunger longer, sprinkle in a teaspoon of Chia seeds (they’re not just for chia pets!). They are VERY good for you. They make you feel full, help lower cholesterol, AND are a good source of Omega-3.

As someone mentioned, NOT putting in too much water IS very important.

It’s not just that it would make it too liquidy, it dilutes the flavors of all your ingredients.

Just put in enough to completely cover all the ingredients in the pot.

IF, just before Shabbos, it looks like it’s almost cooked out, and is going to be too dry, add a LITTLE water from your kumkum.

Mentioned this in a previous thread on the subject…

Yes, you do need a somewhat “not-lean” aka fatty meat.

BUT, if you would prefer NOT to totally close your arteries and need by-pass surgery by the time you are forty, do NOT use meat “with loads of fat on it”. Use just a slightly fatty meat and compensate for the lack of meat fat by adding olive oil (1/4-1/2 cup).

It may not be a completely PERFECT substitute, but it is a very good substitute, AND you’ll live to enjoy it a LOT longer!!!

The wisdom of Rav Nachman is gaining more and more acknowledgement all the time. It AMAZES me how ahead of his time he was (200 years ago).

Rav Nachman’s chachmah is davka targeted for us today, and more people every day are realizing it.

Those who equate TRUE Breslov chassidus with the Na-Nachs are similar to those who equate true Chabad chassidus with the mashichists.

    kgh5771…

Maybe Mary and Joseph were “conservative” Jews who believed in matrilineal yichus. (LOL)

Here’s something else to think about…

Xtians and the “new testament” always put down the Rabanim of that era and the “rabbinic”-following Jews, who were were the majority of the Jewish population, obviously because they did not accept ‘j’ as mashiach.

BUT – they have a big problem that I’ve never heard anyone discuss.

Xtians also supposedly believe in the “old” testament (i.e. our Tana”ch). The Torah teaches (and they would therefore also believe) that a Moavi can not convert to become a Jew. We know that David was the grandson of Rut HaMoavi’a. The only reason that was allowed, as I’m sure you all know, was because the rabbanim poskened that this only applied to MoavIM, and not to Moavi’OT. If not for that rabbinic p’sak, David, and his line, would have been pasul to be mashiach.

So… this leaves xtians on the horns of dilemma.

Either they (instead of hating the rabbanim) accept their p’sak which allowed Moavi’OT to convert, and thus allow the line of David to give birth (some day) to mashiach,

OR – admit that the Davidic line, which they claim ‘j’ came from, is not even a legitimate ‘stam’ Jewish line, much less a family fit to give birth to mashiach!

A lose-lose scenario if you are a xtian!!!

    apushatayid…

Of course all you said is very true (although it’s still k’dai to read that very interesting book).

There are WAY TOO MANY stiras in their religion to cover here, but one thing I’ve always wondered about…

Aside from the fact that, of course, he was not the mashiach, how did it ever get into their heads that mashiach = G-d??? (or “son of G-d??)

Xtians equate the two, and we certainly do not.

That’s quite a leap to make, and it’s a fundamental principle of their belief.

    Weird!

    mikehall12382…

    Good point!

Read the book “The Passover Plot”.

It had the catholic church having a fit when it came out in the late ’60s. It’s a non-fiction book by a historian. His premise is that ‘j’ intended to fake his death and then “miraculously” rise from the dead. Unfortunately for him, a Roman soldier hastened his (normally slow death by crucifixion) death by sticking a spear in him. This put his co-conspiritors in tsuris, because now he REALLY was dead, and they thought their whole plan was kaput. They figured a way to fake his “resurrection”, enabling xtianity as we know it, to be born.

I don’t remember the author’s name but you can google the book name.

The bottom line is, that this proclamation by the pope wil make VERY little, if ANY difference in world wide anti-Semitism.

    Why?

Many anti-Semites are not xtians (i.e. moslems)

Many xtians are not catholics (i.e. protestants)

Many catholics (just like r’l many Jews) are not religious AT ALL, – so, their anti-Semitism is something genetic by this point. It’s NOT based on catholic “frumkeit” or analysis of their “bible’, it’s just part of what they are, and no statement by a pope, whom they are not machshiv anyway, will make a difference in their attitudes about ANYTHING (e.g. about Jews, abortion, birth control, divorce, toayva’keit, etc.)

Re: Yerushalayim and “it does not matter what we give away, as we get it all back when Moshiach comes.”

    That is true.

We will get it all back. That’s why I don’t get all upset when I hear about arabs building nice homes in Eretz Yisrael, i.e. eventually it WILL all be ours.

NEVERTHELESS, it is STILL a chilul HaSh-m ve’haAretz to give it away to the yishmael savages (or anyone else).

BTW… I believe you are correct that the boundaries of Yerushalayim are not exactly spelled out (and sorry I forgot the source of this but I did learn…) because “ba’Yom HaHu”… Yerushalayim will be expanded to include ALL of Eretz Yisrael, and Eretz Yisrael will be expanded to include the whole world.

The key term here is “the Jewish people as a whole“.

In other words, he’s saying Jews WERE to blame, BUT we won’t blame ALL Jews for ALL time.

    Bottom line…

The catholic church still blames the Jews for killing ‘j’.

France has much bigger problems than this bozo.

It has been over run by moslems, and French “culture” (such as it is) is in serious danger of being wiped out in the next 20-30 years.

French Jews, as many of you probably know, have suffered numerous attacks, and cannot safely walk in the streets with a yarmulka.

MANY have already, or are in the process of making aliya.

Come dressed in a mature way.

Hopefully frum boys do not dress this way anyway, but teenage boys who come to the test in washed out ragged jeans and a t-shirt and look like a “dumb teenager” are likely to be watched more closely and “graded” more harshly than if they were wearing a nice pair of slacks and a button down shirt.

The maturity with which you dress may be taken as a reflection of the maturity with which you will drive.
