    Shaitel Wearer…

You wrote… “they dont carry that line” makes no sense in this case. There is no “line” when it comes to a 100% custom order.”

Yes, there may NOT be a “line” for a custom ordered shaitel. That is exactly the point. There WAS some kind of label in the wig that indicated it was NOT a custom wig, and was NOT something Georgie would carry.

You also wrote… “when “georgies” secretary said that this woman has recently purchased a long wig from them, she was probably referred to the wig that was on her head that she purchased to replace the one that got ruined.”

Who EVER said she bought the wig she was wearing to replace that ruined wig??? Even she did NOT say that. If that was indeed the case, it would have been the logical thing for her to say in response to the judge. The fact that she did NOT say that strongly indicates that that was NOT the situation.

    Sorry “TheChevra”…

    I don’t buy it.

I am NOT, chalila, saying YOU are lying, but this just doesn’t make sense.

How could anyone from Georgie have told the judge, based on the description of it after the churban, that the wig IS a Georgie wig??? (From the tag inside it, it IS possible they could say that it is NOT a Georgie wig.) EVEN assuming the people at Georgie did say what you say they said, maybe THEY have some motive for saying that now.

The judge seemed perfectly content, at first, to make some peshara, being that there seemed to be fault on both sides.

Then, (and I think it was because of the woman’s statement that she only owned ONE full wig, the ONE she was wearing!) the judge sensed something stank about their claim and made the call to the sheitel-macher.

I DO know that if it was ME that was called a liar when I was telling the truth, I would LOUDLY insist that I was NOT a liar, and that the judge had gotten incorrect information, and I would like for us to call Georgie back TOGETHER. I would NOT have backed down and remained basically silent as those two did.

    To: Aishes Chayil…

    GOOD CATCH!!!

I thought I was the only one that noticed that. She DID in fact say she owned just ONE full Sheitel and one fall. The judge asked her if what she was wearing was the fall, and she replied NO, it was the sheitel.

So, if so what was the destroyed mop sitting on the judge’s bench???

The judge let that remark slide at that moment, but I think it was DAVKA that remark that made her sense something was not kosher with her claim, and why, at the last moment she took a recess and went to call Georgie.

I think these people NEVER imagined she would do that.

I am pretty sure the way payment on this show works, is like this…

Both sides start out with getting $5,000 from the show.

The maximum claim can be for no more than $5,000.

The side that loses has to pay from the $5,000 they would have gotten. So, – if the judge HAD awarded them the $3,000 they were asking for, they would have ended up with a total of $8,000 and the other side $2,000.

In this case, it would seem they both went home with their $5,000.

THAT is the motivation (some one asked what the motivation is) to go on this type of show.

    Huge chilul HaSh-m!!!

How would any of YOU have reacted IF you were telling the truth and the judge said (as she did here) that you were lying and perpetrating a fraud?

    Wouldn’t you have been indignant?

Wouldn’t you have opened your mouth and said something like…

“Judge, you’ve gotten wrong information, that destroyed wig IS my $3000 Georgi wig!!! I have told you the absolute TRUTH!!!

But in fact how DID they react? – They were basically silent, and their silence spoke volumes! (as in “Gotcha!”)

Want to know one reason (of the many) why kids go “off the derech”?

Because they see hypocritical behavior like this from “frum” adults.

    Ya’asher Ko’ach to “eclipse”!

People CAN disagree with each other WITHOUT the nastiness and viciousness.

Just because someone has a different opinion from yours, does not mean he is an am ha’aretz or an apikorus, or the satan himself.

Even if you disagree vehemently with a comment, do it in a menschlich way.

There really isn’t anything that one can say at a time like that.

It is best just to be there for them to LISTEN to what THEY have to say, and to help in any way you can. Telling over some of the stories and ideas mentioned above, while the intentions are certainly very good, is unlikely to be helpful when the loss is still so new and so intense.

As long as those metal tubes are not tightly closed, it will work in a flat cup.

If the tubes DO appear to be tightly closed, just pry it open slightly at the bottom end (bottom 1/3) with a small screwdriver or other small tool.

    WIY…

    You are absolutely correct, BUT…

Not signaling is the least of the terrible driving infractions I see all the time.

One of the worst is making illegal U-turns in the middle of busy streets.

Not only is this illegal, not only is it a chilul HaSh-m as people doing it keep people waiting in BOTH directions while they take several back and forth maneuvers to complete the turn, but it is extremely dangerous! A friend of mine was KILLED a few months ago making such a U-turn when he apparently didn’t see someone racing down the street, and they apparently didn’t realize he was pulling out to make the U.

So… all of you out there who don’t care about the law, who don’t care about chilul HaSh-m, HOW do you feel about leaving a young widow and fatherless children?!?!?

Remember that from mid-December the goyim like to go to the “Holy Land” for xmas, and so the rates go up. Likewise for any holiday, high travel period.

I do understand and empathize with the desire for a low fare, but do put into your cheshbon the need for good security (and do NOT count on the TSA -even with their new electronic toys and heter to fondle you- to supply that good security. So… at the very least, beware of small airlines you never heard of.

There are no RELIABLE very “cheap” tickets.

Best tips are to avoid peak travel times, i.e. Jewish or goyish holidays, to avoid weekend travel, and in general to try to be flexible with dates.

The online travel websites like Orbitz, Expedia, and Travelocity (that are the best for domestic fares)are generally NOT as good for travel to Israel as a Jewish travel agency that specializes in Israel and knows when and where to get the best rates.

I think before anyone blasts or praises M.O., or before anyone decides that M.O. is, or is not, appropriate for someone for a shidduch, we need a precise definition of what M.O. IS.

I’m not looking to start another thread with this question, but I’m sure that if the question were posed, there would be MANY very different answers.

The point is, that being the case, these terms are NOT really very useful, and they ARE very devisive.

    Wolf –

    Well said.

I would like to quote HaRav Avraham Yitzchak HaKohen Kook zatz’l on the subject…

“The Jewish People have become divided into two camps, through the categorization of Jews as “chareidi” and “chofshi” (secular).

These are new terms, which were not used in the past. Of course, not everyone is identical, especially in spiritual matters: but there was never a specific term to describe each faction. In this respect, we can certainly say that previous generations were superior to ours.

By emphasizing this categorization, we obstruct the path toward improvement and growth in BOTH camps. Those who feel that they belong to the religious camp look down on the secular camp. If they think about teshuva and improvement, they immediately cast their eyes in the direction of the secularists, devoid of Torah and mitzvot. They are confident that full repentance is required by the irreligious, not by them.

The secular Jews, on the other hand, are convinced that any notion of penitence is a religious concept, completely irrelevant to their lives.

It would be better if we could ALL concentrate on examining our OWN defects, and judge others generously. It could very well be that others have treasure-troves of merits, hidden from sight. We should recognize that there exists in each camp a latent force leading toward goodness. Each camp has much to improve upon, and could learn much from the positive traits of the other camp.

Let us be known by ONE name – Klal Yisrael. And let our prayer be fulfilled ‘May they all become agudah achat to fulfill Your will wholeheartedly.”

For everyone’s information even the most frum New York yeshivish types are NOT like Israeli chareidi. Israeli chareidi kids can’t even play ball, much less watch ANY video.

Until recently (and somewhat even now) this was/is a big problem for frum Brooklyn types making aliyah – especially in terms of finding a school for their kids. Israeli chareidi is WAY more machmir than in the U.S., and Mizrachi-type was way too maykil.

–B”H now there is a category called “Chardal” (rashai taivos for CHAReidi DAti Le’umi) that is perfect for MOST frum New Yorkers making aliya.

Talk to HaSh-m EVERY day. Not just the prescribed 3 tefilos.

Take at least 30-60 minutes every day to TALK to HaSh-m the way you would talk to your very best friend.

Thank Him for what you have. Ask Him for what you need. Talk to Him about everything that is on your mind, the happy things, and the troubling things.

This is what HaSh-m craves from us more than anything, – for us to be close to Him.

    “Karov HaSh-m le’kol korav, le’kol asher yikra’uhu be’emet.

HaSh-m is close to those who are close to Him, to those who speak to Him from the heart on a regular basis.

Who would YOU be more likely to go out of your way to do something for? Your close friend, whom you speak to every day, or someone who only approaches you when he wants something from you?
