i remember once when we had to watch something for school and a friend of mine sat down but felt so horrible watching after so many years of not watching…she could not stop saying how it feels horrible…. but it was a perfectly kosher movie (we had to read the book but didnt want to so we just watched the movie instead)

adam- I am really sorry for you and it hurt me to read your post. I think the first step (i know everyone mentioned it-i guess its really important) is to get a rav or a mentor of some sort. someone older and wiser than you who can see the whole picture and guide you out of this horrible “maze”. I will tell you that the book A garden of emunah is a wonderful start too. Kids in public school should not be an issue for you- as you said you never had issues with them- count your blessings!!!!!
for me vacation is doing outdoor activities- swimming, boating, hiking, beach…. and then sleeping in a hotel
we have at least 2 threads for every topic ever discussed here.
ZK- LOL Good point. Why dont you tell your friend the truth. be honest. dont tell him that you will never do it but just say that you can only do it a couple times a week

there is def a bigger bren and more “varemkeit” when you look at the chassidish bochurim… vs the litvish ones. but I think one thing that they have which I will never have ( and thats sad for me) is that they have a rebbe who they can ask about anything but they are following one derech. my mother always says that when she was pregnant with my special brother she wished she would have a rebbe that she can go to who would just calm her down and guide her. that brings a certain serenity

I daven almost every single morning but dont feel any emotions. I dont know how to explain it but I just dont feel like it gets me anywhere. I know you’re all going to tell me that of course Hashem hears and I see a tremendous amount of hashkacha in my life and I know its all from Him but when it comes to formal prayers I just cant!

I dont think its really possible but you never know. maybe this boy really is the exception but I would highly doubt it. maybe hes just not ready or maybe he doesn’t even think that shes thinking in those terms at all yet.
u have to do soemthing either very terrible and then you’ll get one that you are Joseph or you have to post a lot here and youll get one too- as soon as you make the mods nervous enough. they dont have all day to think of subtitles AND moderate the posts.
I dont think its easy to get a job but he must try his best to get some sort of job. I dont think its easy but there has to be a will to work and he’ll find something….I realize that there is a bigger issue here but let me tell you from experience that the first step to depression….is when you dont have a job and fell good about yourself.
