Not sure about how dietetic but definitely healthy
broccoli (bug free is best, anything is fine, stems, florets etc)
pasta (whole wheat works very well)
eggs (for a 9×13 about 4)
oil (a few tablespoons)
cottage cheese (fat free or low fat is fine. If you are watching salt, then do half cottage cheese and half ricotta or farmer cheese)
salt and pepper to taste
When mixed it will form something like a kugel. Bake for 40-60 minutes on a low temp and then uncover during the last few minutes to let it brown
enjoy!

You are completely right, but this is not a CC issue. Other Yeshivos may ask for $x per year whether it comes from a wife or in laws. CC asks for no less than any other Yeshiva, just that it comes from a wife instead of being handed a check every month.
As a side issue, if you are completely certified in education, do you work for the BOE? Bacause I have heard they pay much better and give benefits.

It's a way of life. #989143abcd1234ParticipantNo, I don’t think they will say no to a shadchan about a girl who will not support him completely (for the first few years, depending on how long the boy plans to learn), but as with many Yeshivos, it is preferred. Very often, CC boys will get Smicha and become a Rosh Yeshiva pretty soon after (sometimes out of town).
WolfishMusings, I don’t think the Rosh HaYeshiva was dictating financial terms for dating a boy, just that most of the boys are looking for that. CC encourages support from a wife rather than parents.

I know some people who married boys learning in CC and only supported for a short time. It depends on each specific person. (I think they do generally encourage boys to marry girls with a degree of some sort since it generally has higher pay.)
abcd1234ParticipantEsther, in Sefer Shmiras Halashon, A Daily Companion, (IIRC) theres an example given of someone who hears that a potential business partner has been out of work and has a lot of debt to pay off. It says there that if one hears this, he shouldnt act based on what was but he should think that since the potential partner has been out of work, he has every reason to think that Hashem will have rachmanus on him and he will succeed. Similarly, if things seem like they were terrible up until now, you have every reason to think that Hashem has a refuah shelaimah waiting for you just “up his sleeve”.
Also remember “Shivisi Hashem L’negdi Samid” is that He is with you and watching out for you. Never give up hope, you are His daughter and as hard as this tzarah may seem for you, its harder for him and he has a countdown until Esther Liba bas Miriam has a complete refuah.
Like they say, worry is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do, but gets you nowhere.
Stay strong! May Hashem grant you a complete refuah b’karov!
abcd1234ParticipantCrashOverride, I appreciate all your help. One more question if can, if I were to buy a new router, is there a specific model you would recommend that is not too expensive? (model, as opposed to brand) Thanks again.
abcd1234ParticipantI tried changing the channel, it didn’t seem to make a difference. Any other suggestions? Thanks.
abcd1234ParticipantCrashOverride, thank you for your help. I will let you know later if this works. How do I reboot the router? Re-power it off/on?
I Can Only Try, thank you for your help.
abcd1234ParticipantCrashOverride, thank you for your help. Mine looks just like a modem for DSL does. Nothing for channels, except the only thing is that there are four different ports to plug it into. The model is Belkin G (maybe 54G).
abcd1234ParticipantI dont have channels on mine. It looks basically like my DSL modem. (maybe it’s called a wireless modem. Is there a difference?) The model is Belkin 54G. I have not checked into it, I just bought it from him thinking he would sell me a good product.
January 23, 2009 6:18 pm at 6:18 pm in reply to: Daven With A Hat BeYichidus or Without it with a Minyan #1081861abcd1234ParticipantMoish that was not what I intended and I apologoze if it came out that way. Maybe not now but it seems to me you have the potential to become a wonderful person who is very close to Hashem. You clearly come from a background with excellent hashkafos and you know whos boss around here. I think thats more than most people are willing to admit.
January 23, 2009 6:22 am at 6:22 am in reply to: Daven With A Hat BeYichidus or Without it with a Minyan #1081845abcd1234ParticipantI will repeat myself by your continuously saying your mind is screwed up, your begining a domino effect, which isprobably not creating anything good.
And why is it pointless to pretend? eventually it will become a part of you.
You say your heart is in the right place and I could gave told you that. It seems to me that deep down, you want to do good and be good and are looking for a way tyo accomplish that. Pray for it. strengthen your relationship with Hashem and no tefilla is ever wasted, if it wont help you today, itll help you tomorrow. it seems like you pray from the heart and there is nothing more complete and whole to HKB”H than a broken heart looking for solutions. I can tell you from experience, Hashem is a very good listener, and if you sincerely believe that He loves you, as no one else ever will or can, and that He wants the best for you. You will reverse directions and become greater. I only know you as a member of the CR, but it seems to me you are really a wonderful person whos looking for a light in a seemingly dark room. I guarantee you its there, but if you won’t look for it, you definitely can’t see it. Ask Him for help, because Hes the only one who can.

I’ve been reading this thread for a while although I havent addeed my comments yet… a few points if I may (sorry for their not being in order of the original comments)
1. You say you break many halachos a day. Simply proves you are human. There is no human created who has not knowingly done something wrong, ever.
2. About your so called “fake” relationship with Hashem. First it is not possible to have a fake relationship, either its there or its not. Aside from that even if you say you would be asking for the wrong things, you are still acknowledging to Hashems being in control, which is a big step in the right direction. Until the recent financial downturn, many people would have laughed in your face had you told them something like that.
3. You mention that Hashem has never spoken to you. He has. He chose you to give this nisayon to instead of any number of kids your age who are sitting in yeshivas and bais yaakovs. This is simply the path which you are meant to travel to ultimately become the best person you can be. Keep in mind that if Hashem bothered to give it to you, he wants you closer to Him because He loves you. Someone I know was once observing a teacher. A student in the back was talking during the entire class. At the end of the period the teacher approached the student and said “dont think I didn’t see you, I just don’t care enough about you to do anything.
4. I know I’m reiterating myself here (#1) but don’t be so hard on yourself. Even if you know you dont daven 3 times every day and as you say three quarters of what you do is wrong. You’re not helping anyone anyone and you’ll only succeed in putting yourself on a guilt trip. You are not bad. Hashem bothered to create you and he knows what Hes doing.
5. Choose something small to do every single day, without fail. Not something major which will make a big thing. Something small, for you to know and no one else.
P.S. You say when you daven you really mean it. I am jealous of that, and BTW, I have a feeling that no matter what you are physically doing that may be wrong, in your heart you know the right direction, and your teshuva is much more whole than many other people.
abcd1234Participanti call for another CR party when this thread hits 1000 (accepted) posts!

i really dont want to dtart any sort of difference in opinion and get into anything, the methos of f.c. as you say may be a farce but these children are special neshamos, regardless of whether you believe it or not dont just completely write them off like that.
abcd1234Participantmods is this thread going anywhere?
btw, just in the spirit of this topic if anyone can post the number of the CCHF shailah hotline and the hours its open it would be very much appreciated.

abcd1234Participantoomis lol! its like the Dov Shurin version of Obama’s campaign slogan “Yes we can” is yes, oui, ken (yes in hebrew)
abcd1234Participantso mods is that it for the thread?
abcd1234ParticipantICOT’s joke about the titanic reminded me of this one…
a man walked into a prominent manhatten office on his first day of work. after explaining to the supervisor what he was doing there, the supervisor showed him around the office. right before he was about to start the superrvisor asked him what his name is.
“Abe”
“oh, we go by last names around here, what is it Abe…?”
“Darling, Abe Darling.
“and one more thing Abe…”
after coming out of surgery the woman went to the receptionist to make a complaint
“I was very disturbed to hear a distinguished doctor as this one using a four-letter word.”
“oh, what was that?”
“oops”

abcd1234Participantmods-
i just contacted [email protected] and requested that the daily halacha be sent to YWN. anyway for you to contact them and actually set something up? Thanks!
abcd1234Participantre original poster:
a shidduch?!?! (sorry, i could resist)
abcd1234Participanthow about if someone would contact the Chofetz Chaim Heritage Foundation (i dont know how) I’m sure they would be only to happy to supply the YWN CR with the daily lesson, does anyone know of a way to contact them that is able to?
P.S. special thanks to curious for initiating this superb idea!!!!
abcd1234Participantsomeone was recently telling me a story of a childless woman went to the Chofetz Chaim (?) and asked him to do something she was crying bitterly and he refused to do anything while she was crying bitterly. so she said fine! she’d do it herself and then he called her back. Ain lanu al mi lehisha’ain ela avinu shebashamiyim. its emunah and the zchus of the tzedakah thats the point and has brought many yeshuos
abcd1234Participantre oomis to add to the post-sorry i didnt read thru all the posts yet so i dont know who the origianl poster was…
wheres the obedience school located in here or in E”Y and how much is the tuition?
abcd1234Participantbrooklyn-
how would you know?
as far as the joseph combinations you left out joseph+other poster -maybe someone who doesnt always share the same vies as the joseph we all know (and love-lol)
abcd1234Participantthanks Joseph for that little tidbit, learn something new every day!
abcd1234Participanti dont think anyone can mae a blanket statement for all teenagers with regard to having phones i think basically you have to know your kid (which you should anyway by the time they’re a teen) give him/her many positive influences of interest to them and pray
abcd1234Participantre notpashut and noitallmr:
its annoying to have to go down to the last post on a page and sometimes the posts are very long…not vital but a suggestion…
abcd1234Participantone more if i may, is it possible to have less posts per page like 15 instead of 20 or 30 or whatever it is right now?
abcd1234Participantmw13- i think its “if you fight fire with fire you’ll end up with ashes”
variation on the famous “he who laughs last laughs best”,
“he who laughs last thinks slowest”
abcd1234Participanthow about having a link to each page on multiple page thread from the coffee room home page?
abcd1234ParticipantKeep in mind, the issue you mentioned is not something that clearly wrong but something that, being thirteen, she doesnt neec to know about. I dont necessarilly agree with it but i do understand where youre coming from. but youre dealing with a teenager and if everything is forbidden than everything becomes allowed.
abcd1234Participantatheism is a non-prophet orginization
SOme men join the army cuz theyre single and they like war; others join the army cuz theyre married and they like peace
Mary went to church one day and told the priest her husband had just died. The priest expressed his condolences and then asked if John had any special wishes for burial. Mary told him clearly. they finished making arrangements and then the priest asked Mary if the were any last requests? Mary: “Yes, in fact he did, Mary please put down the gun…”
abcd1234ParticipantThere is nothing clearly written in halacha of why it would be wrong to go into a bar but its simply not in “the spirit of the law” for boys in yeshiva to be doing so. At the same time i would like to bring up that each case is one of its own and no blanket statement covering everyone can be said about this situation, or anything else for that matter. The piont of this thread (as i would imagine it to be) is to make sure what your kids are doing and keep an eye on them. At the same time let me mention that there are cases sometimes and maybe often (not likely in this case, but nevertheless, still possible) that a bar may be an inprovement over something else. Point being, its not for us to judge.
abcd1234Participanti would imagine steady colors that go together and dont clash makes it much easier for men to get dressed…
abcd1234ParticipantFor brooklynites… on 14th avenue btwn 44th and 45th (I think)in boro park, theres a seforim store Pinters where they accept used seforim, try there… good luck!
abcd1234Participantre teenager: you are an inspiration to me and may Hashem bless you with continued success in all your endeavors (i know i’m simply reiterating what noitallmr said but i feel the same way so i thought the comment should be repeated…)
you mentioned earlier on the board that you were “looking” for a mentor i would like to mention shiurim which may be completely off for someone like you i think its available at theshmuz.com i really enjoy them simce it brings Torah to daily life and it reallly helps and the topics are very practical…
Hatzlacha!
abcd1234Participantas odd as this might sound this really happens and is very effective… if you eat something unhealthy it affects your eating habits until you have something healthier ex: the little piece of cake is not just that, its the cake plus in whatever way, shape, or form it’ll have an effect on your cravings (sorry to be getting so technical…) if you desperately need the unhealthy whatever it is just finish it off with a fruit or something else with nutritional benefit…
abcd1234Participantcheck books like touched by a story or impact or check in praying with fire or try contacting the author. good luck
abcd1234Participantthere are many women who take upon themselves when they get married not to wear a sheitel, they are very much admired and to modernlakewoodguy, it seems your heart is in the right place and wearing a black hat and jacket wherever you go in no way makes you a better person than someone who wears jeans. (just to lighten up the matter a bit I once heard men wear black and white simply because they wont have to deal with mismatched clothing that way) i feel bad for the boy who made the comment to you to have to grow up in a home with such a negative mentality like that
abcd1234Participantnot 100% sure of this but i believe this story was told about the Chofetz Chaim concerning Trotsky. a man once came to the Chofetz Chaim for a bracha but the Chafetz Chaim refused to give him one. this happened time and again. one day the man asked the Chofetz Chaim why he couldn’t get a bracha and the Chafetz Chaim answered him that he was the rebbe of Trotsky and he said something that turned Trotsky away from yiddishkeit.
abcd1234ParticipantI am not such a fan of sems in E”Y because of the lack of supervision and the (hefty) price tag. for the majority of girls soing to sem in E”Y its a result of peer pressure to get a good shidduch more than they’re actual learning. after 12 years of school most girls are “burned out” and the things taught in seminarys that may be helpful in throughout life like tznius and hashkafa need to be ingrained to a certain extent from the begining before sem even came into the picture I cant imagine anyone would make such a drastic change in going from 0 to 100 and have it last. additionally I think peer pressure is a big obstacle in the area of shidduchim, if we would lose the mentality of get out of HS, go to a top sem in E”Y, marry the “best” boy in lakewood and adopt one like there are sems other than those in E”Y and there are yeshivos other than lakewood ( not saying anything against it) we would all benefit
