Are there no other Jewish females your age in your shul or in your community that you can make new friends with. Is she the only one? Get involved in Chesed projects and you will make new Jewish friends and ignore her completely. If you go back to being close friends with her it will only happen again. You are in an abusive relationship and you must divorce her.

I would like to apologize for my comments regarding someones ability to write. My criticism didn’t correct the problem and so serves no purpose. I am sorry if you were offended.

Smokers now a days are rebelling against society, if you treat them badly or even call them OTD, that maybe the straw that breaks the camel’s back and causes them to really go OTD.

Health- Some of the Greatest people (Rosh Hayeshavas) smoked in previous generations. Are you saying that they too are sinners? There is a Gammarah in Chullin concerning the donkey of R’ Pincos Ben Yair, that G-d wouldn’t let it eat grain that wasn’t tithed because it was a sin, so surely G-d wouldn’t permit the Tzadick to sin. But you hold that these Saintly Rabbis who smoked are sinners, you are rewriting history.

I never said females can’t dye their hair, however there maybe some health problems involved. You should consult your doctor before using hair dyes, as premature graying maybe a symptom of a disease. Also hair dyes have tar and many of the same carcinogens as tobacco the only different is that not as much is absorbed through the scalp if it is washed off quickly, as is absorbed by inhaling so the doctor’s insight maybe helpful.

I just think that people should know that hair dyes are toxic and are not as healthy as food dye. I am in no way trying to scare anyone. You should know the risks involved before using these dyes.

There should be no reason a “Girl” can’t dye her hair as she doesn’t go to the Mikvah. A married women who must go to the mikvah may have a problem if it prevents the water from getting to the hair. It should be noted that some of these dyes may cause CANCER.

Try eating comfort food such as ice cream. If this doesn’t pick up your spirits you may need professional help. Do not self medicate through drugs or alcohol. Speak to your rabbi or doctor, they may better advise you. Therapist will help you understand your problem but wouldn’t cure you as they want you to continue coming as a patient.

If you want a Torah solution then you should consult a rabbi. Many times your goals are set to high and you feel that you are not succeeding as well as others. Or maybe g-d wants you to succeed in another field.

Science is the study of nature. The concept of nature is the denial of g-d. The vast majority of scientists are atheist. Religious Catholics who are trying to have their children taught creationism in public school but are being opposed by your scientists. Are there some Religious Scientist? Yes. The same logic that says smoking causes cancer can be used to say the study of science causes atheism.

Absan _ I hope you realize that you were negligent in not watching your child properly, your 2 year old shouldn’t be allowed to go into someones driveway. Unless the neighbor has a backup camera on his car they are not going see the child if they backed up their car, so it’s just a question which car was likely to hit him. I hope in the future you take better care of tyour children and not rely on Hashem to watch over them, otherwise social service will take them away. You are lucky none of the drivers reported that you let your 2 year run in the street.

You get rid of grudge by forgetting about it and her. She ignored you and if you ignore her you will solve the problem. Block her calls and texts. Don’t say Loshan Horah about her. Just completely erase her from your memory. In a few weeks you will have forgotten all about her and the grudge. The problem is you are in abusive relationship, according to you, and you keep on going back for more.

While they can be terminated if they are found to be discriminating against anyone based on religion but unless you substantiate the claim, which means that he is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, you will flunk the course and probably have to leave the college. It’s a big risk but the choice is yours.

Professors are there to teach not to cater to individual student’s whims. He may not have the time to help you. How did you ask him? He may have an assistant who can help you. Likewise there is a Dean of Students who is better able to help you in these types of situations. Making false accusation will anger the administration, ruin your reputation, make your college experience that much more difficult and less enjoyable.

apushatayid- I agree with you. To me, her writing appears to be from an elementary school student. If she wrote a cover letter in the way she is writing here, she will never get a job. She maybe a genius, but she writes like she was never learnt the basics in English Composition. Once someone knows how to write properly they always write properly unless they want to fit in in with the uneducated (minorities).

Moderator This is corrective criticism. Most personnel department have software that weeds out resumes and cover letters with spelling and grammatical errors before forwarding them for consideration. Those with errors are discarded. She is going to spend thousand of dollars on education with no chance of getting a job. This is why many colleges have remedial courses especially in English and Math (because they never learnt it prior). You can’t rely on spell check to correct these types of errors errors.

Sparkly If you are driving 70 MPH you are going 103 feet per second. If you have to make a short stop to avoid something you will need very fast reflexes and even then you might not be able to stop in time. During poor visibility your headlights wouldn’t show you anything as the headlight doesn’t extend 100 feet in front of you.

While $ 130 K is the median salary for a pharmacist, which means that half of them make less then this amount. In fact you will probably start out in the 70-90 K but with more and more insurance companies requiring the use of mail ordering drug and with Obama care limiting reimbursement for drugs, I can’t see you making the $130 K any time soon. A $130 K salary when you include fringe benefits it cost the employer $200 K. In order to turn a profit the employer’s gross sales has to be a million a month or higher as gross profit on pharmaceuticals is under 5%. Many of the Mom & Pop Pharmacies are going out of business. Grocery and other stores use them as loss leaders to keep customer in the store in the hope that they buy something expensive.

This is all assuming that you pass the Naplex, there are some schools that have a 68% pass rate while other it’s close to 100%. In Jan 2015 in NY Statewide pass rate for Part 3 was 58%. Fail three times and you can’t get a licence in NY, nationwide it’s 5. No licence no job so checking up the pass rate of the college is most important also even if it’s a state university if it’s not fiscally sound they will close even if you are in the middle of your program.

Science is anti religion so bring a proof from science is not really a proof. Science can be used for example to say someone committed a crime because it can be shown to be accurate beyond a reasonable doubt while with lung cancer it’s statistics and or actuarial tables.

Is smoking thee root cause for lung cancer or perhaps air pollution due to frivolous driving is the cause? If you would slow down instead of speeding, beside consuming less gas and creating fewer accidents it would decrease the amount of air pollution. Likewise instead of hopping in the car to go a block or two besides saving gas and time and the environment it is also healthy.

Yeshivishe Kup – Where in Bava Kama does it say that Speeding in a motor vehicle is prohibited if the car wasn’t invented until the late 1800s almost a thousand years later? In Kiddushin page 82a the second Mishna states the Best of the Doctor go to HELL.

Jewishfeminist02 By your own admission the claim o that a smoker loses ten years is false and under Jewish Law testimony that is partially proven false is totally false and they are no longer believed.

There is a big difference between running across the street without looking because there the danger occurs at the same time as oppose to smoking where the disease occurs 20-30 years later.

Sparkly You may not believe this but if you are speeding you are driving blindly as you are traveling over 60 MPH or a mile a minute which is faster than you can see. By the time you see something it is already to late to take evasive action. Unlike smoking which is an addiction speeding is just a bad choice which can kill yourself and others quickly.

Reb Yid You have to know where the smokers hang out and avoid those places. I assume you have eyes that can see and a nose that can smell you have to avoid their hang outs. The wind cleans away the odor in seconds. You are not covered in the smoke, it’s just the odor that attaches to your clothing and you have a sensitivity to it.

Sparkly Both Speeding & Smoking MAY kill but while smoking will take years until he gets sick, speeding will kill you in a second. I never smoke and likewise never speed. Is the few seconds or minutes that you save worth your life or years of rehabilitation to get back to normal.

As to the studies that compare many people, just like you say those people that got into speeding accidents they were bad drivers but I am a good driver. You should know that if you are going 60 miles per hour which is not speeding you are going a mile a minute and you would not be able to stop in time to avoid an accident. Similarly, the smoker will claim these people have a weak immune system but they have a strong immune system. This is why some people will die of lung cancer in their 50s who have never smoked while other die in their 90s and smoked most of their life.

If you are saying that a smoker dies 10 years before his time? How do you know when his time is up? Only G-d Knows. If you can predict the future can you tell me what next weeks winning Lotto number are.

Reb Yid If you don’t want tobacco smoke on you just don’t hang around people who smoke.

Sparkly Why do you want to smoke? Just because it isn’t prohibited doesn’t mean that it’s something GOOD for you to do. Speeding isn’t prohibited by Jewish law, but is dangerous and should not be done.

Sparkly- In the 1940s and 50s cigarettes were a form of currency in many parts of the world. It was only in the 60s that we started to hear that smoking was hazardous. Many Rosh Yeshivas smoked up until the 1980s and I tend to doubt they were OTD.

You state “my guy will probably not smoke” does this mean you can’t tell if he smokes or not through either sight or smell. Or does it mean that you really don’t care. Are girls either totally against it or fine with it, why can’t they possibly want and or hope he will quit smoking and think they can convince him to do it.

As for as most of the smokers in your community are OTD. Many smokers in the MO community are rebelling against society and therefor are also rebelling against G-d. There are underlining factors that have to be analyzed before you can get him/her to quit. You are trying to project this onto All Frum smokers. This is like me saying since most of the MOs who come to the Mincha minyan that I go to, learn the Daf ALL MOS learn the Daf. Which I know is not true. MO who take time from their busy day to daven Mincha with a minyan at work are more devoted and more likely to learn the daf.

I.M. Shufilin There is a limit to what Yeshivas can do. It is the parent’s responsibility to know who their children are associating with as many start due to peer pressure. As I previously said they are rebelling against society if you crack down too hard you run the risk of them going OTD. Be careful around Purim this is when many boys start smoking and drinking.

If she wants to marry a doctor what is so bad. The only problem is until he graduates and finishes his residency he is 27 and in debt to the tune of $3-500,000.00 in student loans, unless he has rich parents.

When is she marrying him? Before he graduates she may have to support him. During residency they work him half to death so I doubt he will have time to date. After finishing residency he is 28 going on 30. He will be working multiple jobs in order to pay off his student loans.

Just remember with Obama Care there is a limit to how much a doctor can earn and likewise there is a limit on how much a pharmacy can charge which will effect future earning.

Joseph: Back in the late 1970s I had a similar argument if smoking is prohibited to safeguard your life. Among the claims for smoking are :

1)R’ Moshe never prohibited it he just said G-d watches out for the JACKASS.

    2) The yeshivas only prohibited smoking on premises because of the parents and supporters

    3) The studies that prove that smoking is hazardous are flawed.

A person who is Reform or MO “they” want to bring him closer but someone who is frum but is addicted to smoking “they ” want to discard like a piece of trash. Are smokers addicted to Nicotine? Are they covered under “People with Disabilities” Act? Is calling them OTD Hate Speech or at least slander against a protected minority according to Jewish Law?

I don’t understand why are boys who smoke going OTD? Just because they don’t believe that smoking causes cancer they are OTD. You are bring proof from a magazine would you say the same for parent who refuse to get their children vaccinated.

I don’t smoke nor does anyone in my family, but my son-in law does. He is a good husband and only smokes outside the house or car and never in front of the children. Girls who limit themselves to those who don’t smoke may miss marrying their Bershet.

Avi K: Yeh Atid hates the Charadis, when they were in the government the cut aid to them and attempted to draft their children.Whatis needed is trust

The Govt.’s thought that if they would deny them the ability to work unless they join the army, it would encourage them to join. The problem is that while the IDF claims that it doesn’t discriminate soldiers outside the Charadi units have problems. For example, female singing and kosherous has been a big problem. Until they start relieving officer who allow it you wouldn’t get them to join.

Affirmative Action similar to the USA is needed to increase Haradi participation in the workforce. If the Charadis are 10% of the IDF then they should have the same percentage in the workforce. So for example, if Hebrew University doesn’t have that percentage they are penalized.

As far as adopting I think they are better of starting out with foster care. There are older Jewish children that need a loving family which they can provide. Trying to get a new born is like trying to win the lottery while being a foster parent you just have to have a pulse and want to provide a loving family environment.
