Everyone does whatever they want today! Anyway, believe it or not, there is such a thing as neutral Satmer. It does get a little touchy by shidduchim but it is whatever it is!

My take is everyone has a right to live wherever they want,BUT don’t go move into a community with one Rav, that’s not yours to put it mildly!

ZD: You seem to be living behind the times? A sheitelmacher today, if shes good, sells sheitlech for anywhere between $800-$1200. the profit is 100%!

Next Book keepeers make anywhere between $25-$35 an hour. I know because I’m a job recruiter!

If you learn Quick books In school you can become a Book keeper which pays very well!!

ZD : you probably don’t know too many Sheitel machers in Brooklyn, on the average, they make $1000-3000 profit a week!!! ( depending how busy they are!)

Popa: Look back in the beginning of this thread when someone asked what a shpitzel is , and look at the reply.

Also ask your local Rabbi if he allows women to drive?

Gamanit: Let me get this straight, you THINK that if you stay all day and watch the cars in Boro Park you will for sure see 1 lady wearing a shpitzel driving??? Please don’t hold your breathe.Maybe you will find 1 a year…..

I wonder if you actually know what a shpitzel is? Ahhhh I just realized most of you never saw one, you probably think its just a scarf. Its not! In Europe it was a piece of fabric they wore instead of a wig , as if it was bangs? Anyway I’m sure now that most of you NEVER even saw one.

ZD: The car services in Boro Park , don’t really use Muslims, not the Frum car services for sure. The car services in Kiryas Yoel don’t use any goyim. All chasidsher yungerleit.

ZD: I admire your persistence. It is obvious you don’t live in the city.

People use car services all the time, they’re very busy . FYI there is a demand for women car service drivers and all the local car services in Brooklyn do provide them. Back to the original topic: ALWAYS: where are you???

ZD: Now you’re really being ridiculous! Even when both man and wife drive, not every family could afford two cars. If the husband takes the car , the wife can take a car service. Just by the way in the Chassidish community many women only use lady drivers at night.

    Always: Any responses??

ZD: driving for a woman in Kiryas Yoel can not be compared to a woman turning on a light!

Let’s try this comparison;women in Kiryas Yoel wear white tichlech, on Shabbos night, do most women in Woodmere do the same? Probably not, because what is acceptable in one community doesn’t mean it’s acceptable in another. Have you got my point yet???

Reb Yid: it is not possible for her to want to be there for the same reasons like everyone else….. She isn’t like everyone else. I will repeat what I said earlier living in Kiryas Yoel is not like living in Boro Park, Williamsburg or Flatbush, it is a shtetl with ONE Rebbe for the community. If you don’t believe and follow his ideas, then go elsewhere where you basically can do and wear whatever you want! Do you think New Square or Tosh would be any different?

ZD; The dor is not messed up because women are driving, in my opinion. the dor is messed up in part because we are giving our children mixed messages either at home , school , shule or wherever you want. The children today are very confused, we say one thing and do another….there are too many outside influences from the goyishe world seeping into our homes. Disrespect for elders is rampant! When I was a child , the children were much more respectful of their parents and teachers/ Rebayim!

Lets take a poll of how many women you can find driving while wearing a shpitzel? Better yet, pick any Chasidisher Rav or Rebbe who will allow it to any of their chasidim? Things do need to match or we are giving our children mixed messages. If someone accepts certain MINHAGIM ( I repeat minhagim not halacha) upon themselves , they need to go along with that. Used to be if someone wore a shtreimel, they wouldn’t do or go certain places that other people who don’t wear a shtreimel go. Notice how I say, used to be , times have changed…. not necessarily for the better. Used to be Levush meant something…today I’m not so sure!

Back to the point of this thread, ask any Rav in Kiryas Yoel,( where the writer says she lives)if they would allow or condone a woman in a shpitzel driving? They wont and they’ll end up making her life miserable! Why should she go through that? She doesnt live in an open community . She lives in a shtetl, where if you choose to live their, you abide if not??? THEN WHY DOES SHE WANT TO STAY??

Trust 789: I’m sorry you feel that way. A woman who chooses to wear a shpitzel on her head, should not be driving! You really give the children mixed messages! Maybe that’s one of the reasons this dor is so messed up!We continuously give them mixed messages! I am not discussing women driving at all, that’s irrelevant what I think. I am discussing her choice of mode of dress. It just doesn’t match!

Always: I’m not sure how long you are living in that community, but realistically does a woman who drives belong there? Why would you want to live in a community so different than yourself? Would your children be accepted in the local school or will they be looked down upon? Why would you want to put your children through that? If you don’t believe in their guidelines, why would you want to live there????

Always: I hope I haven’t offended you in any way. I certainly did not mean to! Based on what you wrote in this post and many others I’ve read about you over the last 3 years , you really have come a long way!!! If I could I would give you a standing ovation! For a baalos teshuva to go that far to put on a shpitzel, must’ve taken a lot of courage on your part! I did not mean to hurt you by suggesting you move or and remove it. it’s just based on your desire to drive and a lot of other things you’ve mentioned in the past , I just didn’t think it was for you BUT that’s just my opinion. Wishing you menuchas hanefesh to make all the right decisions!

ZD; sorry to correct you , but you’re way off ( again?)

A shpitzel is not a scarf over their wig. A shpitzel is in stead of a wig.

KJ Chusid; I would love to hear your answer on this one??

ALWAYS; sorry to disappoint you, you don’t belong in a shpitzel driving in your community. Therefore you choose which one to change or both? If you feel you need to drive, simple move out and take off your shpitzel. You won’t be the first or last one unfortunately.

I tried to warn you not to get into a long discussion with people who have absolutely no appreciation for the Yiddish language.Look back what ZD wrote about Yiddish:”saying there are so few speakers of it” Can you imagine, this is where he is coming from. He has NO idea how Yiddish is the first language of thousands of Chasidish people and that number is Baruch Hashem growing! But NOT in his world, catching on yet????

Are we plain people equipped to satisfy your questions? Are there any real answers? I think about the personal families of the niftarim and I shudder! I think of my parents and grandparents,a.h. and what they went through, and I shudder! I think we need to hear WHAT THE GEDOLIM OF OUR GENERATION ARE SAYING, and act accordingly!
