Here are two riddles:
1. Make this equation true without changing it 8+8=91
2. Start with these letters:
ERGRO
If you place three letters in front of them, and the same three letters after them (IN THE SAME ORDER!!) you’ll from a common word. (You may have to dig deep for the answer)
YW Moderator-39MemberAre you suggesting I stop Moding now so I can do YOUR dirty work?
YW Moderator-39MemberMod39, Do the same mods who mod the CR mod the main YW site comments?
I know I don’t do the comments section. I have no idea who does. COULD BE some mods do double duty, but I don’t know
YW Moderator-39Member;k great, 39. you could have the honor of looking it up 😉
Moish, you’ve come so far, don’t quit now. (Any other fitting clinches?
YW Moderator-39MemberJay, is it when the nesiim are bringing korbanos or something?
Moish, I think you’re on to something. Those p’sukim repeat themselves 12 times.
YW Moderator-39Membermaybe this should be in the how to make ywn better but i was wondering if there is anyway possible to let a member know that their post has been denied because sometimes i will post something and maybe it is during a busy time or something and i will think it got deleted and il try to modify etc and post again whatever it just would remove some confusion i think
In short, no, sorry. Time does not allow us to do so.
Additionally, I want everyone to know, as a moderator, I do not have access to your information! I cannot send you an e-mail (since I do not have it) and If you send me an e-mail, I do not know which CR member it was sent by unless you provide that information.
For these two reasons your suggestion won’t fly. My appologies
YW Moderator-39Memberwow you’re such a toughie, 39. i guess you take your job really seriously.
You knew that already Moish. We spoke about it when you tried to start a post about the corrupt Juvy Judges 😉
YW Moderator-39MemberKinda stole my thunder.
YW Moderator-39Membermod 39: then how can you not let through a different post that you don’t see a point in? couldn’t it maybe funny or thought-provoking to someone else?
Granted. However, I do have 2 tiers shall we call them. In tier 1, I’ll just leave it for another moderator. In tier 2, I’ll just delete it outright.
Lets be clear. There is a difference between something I disagree with (which will go through) and something with is presented in such a way which (I feel) makes it valueless.
As an example, How many times do I allow someone (in page 5!) to jump into a proper discussion (e.g. Chalav Akum) and let them make a general blanket statement (e.g. There is no difference between Chalav Stam and Chalav Akum)[making up an example, this did not happen]? What is the value of allowing that in the middle of a well thought out, well articulated, civil disagreement?
Also, new topics are judged stricter, as I try to see, not only where it is, but where it will be going.
YW Moderator-39MemberI won’t that is 72s job 😉
YW Moderator-39MemberMoish, if it bothered me I would not have discussed it with you.
Also, rather than mock kapusta, why not do kiruv? Encourage kapusta to give this week! Every week!
YW Moderator-39Memberthen how do bad jokes get posted? even when unanimously voted corny or worse?
I was actually had a debate the other day whether or not to post one squeak sent in. I decided I cannot be the sole judge as to what is or is not funny.
Besides, I don’t know it is going to be universally trashed before I let it through. Do I?
YW Moderator-39MemberFavourite Posters:
-
Obviously those who stick to the rules (for the rest of the list, I will try not to use what other Mods have already said)
People who have their facts straight! I can’t stand people who post fake stuff, or manipulate things to serve their agenda
Posters who use longhand. Stay away from internet shorthand. (If used too much, an automatic delete will be coming)
Those who stay on topic
The d’var torah givers… You Guys Rock!
Those that show respect to other posters Especially when debating
Those who don’t care where I am, or who I am 😉
I’ll stop with those. I do agree with the previous posts about using e-mails sparingly, as well as the request not to bug the mods, asking us to edit things or to post your post already.
Personal Note, I will delete for a number of reasons. Some are obvious, and as such, I will not need to mention those. Please note, however,
YW Moderator-39’s List of Why I Delete (apart from the obvious)
- Bad Spelling and/or Internet Chat Shorthand
Dual Meaning
Facts not Accurate
Off Topic, or Getting off Topic
improper Comment to/about Another Poster
(and my favourite) The post with “nothing wrong with it” but with absolutely ZERO value! (This is quite subjective, I know, sorry)
YW Moderator-39MemberI have (just don’t remember where). The reason I saw is the reason I mentioned. I am giving you credit for offering ANOTHER nice reason moish, why are you arguing that yours it the ONLY one?
YW Moderator-39Membergranted they were in nissan. But what are we going to do? Fast during pesach? Since it was directly related to the Purim story it occurs just before purim.
Nice pshat though
YW Moderator-39MemberI think nobody is on for tonight, so why not? I’ll give it a shot (By the way, any information leading to the whereabouts of Moderator 72 would be appreciated)
What is Ta’anis Esther about? Why do we fast? Since we could have been killed (but were saved) we fast? NO, WE CELEBRATE! (the same question also applies to ta’anis bechoros, but we won’t be discussing that)
Also, whenever the calendar conflicts with a ta’anis, the ta’anis gets pushed off. The lone exception being ta’anis esther. I remember hearing from Rebbeim that this was since it was a “happy fast” (I thought it was so Purim would stay the same).
So, what gives? I saw the following answer (sorry, forgot who). The reason we fast is a remembrance for the 3 day fast that they did during the megilla. It is a day to remind us of the power of fasting, and the power of our tfillos. This is why we fast, even though there was no actual harm done to us. This is also why we move it up, as it is unlike any other fast.
March 8, 2009 7:25 pm at 7:25 pm in reply to: POLL: The Big Event Concert; Big Flop? Or Best Show? #640287YW Moderator-39MemberThis discussion about Science and Chazal, whilst interesting to some, is quite off the point. If one wants to continue this discussion, I request it be done in a more appropriate forum (i.e. not in a thread about the concert).
If anyone wants their previous posts here removed, let it be known through a post.
I will leave this thread open, please lets get back on topic
YW Moderator-39Memberreporting for the late shift!
YW Moderator-39MemberAs I said, I just got here. And will be leaving soon 🙁
Moish, I am sure you can figure that one out on your own. Anyone who can provide us with such a wonderful d’var torah, can figure that one out.
YW Moderator-39MemberThere is a Mod in the house. One in addition to myself. I am also wondering who it is.
Someone else has been doing the updates
YW Moderator-39Memberwell done Moish!!
Please tell 72 which day you’d like as a permanent. It appears a few days are now open
YW Moderator-39MemberThere is also the risk vs, reward factor.
YW Moderator-39MemberMoish, when are you going to post the d’var torah?
YW Moderator-39Memberfeivel, where else would one go to check this stuff?
YW Moderator-39Membercouldn’t get through. He was busy playing polo 😉
YW Moderator-39MemberSorry areivim. Did not happen with Ralph Lauren either. These internet rumors can be like Rebbe stories, they jump form one company (or Rebbe) to another
YW Moderator-39MemberPeople, we are getting off topic here…
YW Moderator-39MemberDoes anyone have proof of the claim of the signs of the doors of Louis Vutton? I am usually quite skeptical about stories like this. I remember the “story” that Tommy Hilfigger himself said that he regretted that Jews and blacks were wearing his clothing (the story was a fake).
Not denying the Anti-Semitism eminating from France, just skeptical about the Louis Vutton sign.
YW Moderator-39MemberICOT, nicely done.
YW Moderator-39MemberThe Letter “E”
YW Moderator-39MemberNot sure if I can/how I can. Sorry, you are going to have to rewrite it
YW Moderator-39MemberRiddles, people! This topic is for riddles!!
I shut one down yesterday, please, PLEASE don’t make me shut another
(You can talk road tests in the General Shmooze 2, that is what it is there for)
YW Moderator-39
YW Moderator-39Memberthanks mod39, that is a great answer! it’s fun to get a peek behind the scenes!
Thanks. I’m STILL having fun learning the (and being)’behind the scenes’
YW Moderator-39MemberMoish, I know what you’re thinking, but I have no clue what squeak is thinking, so how can I respond.
Sorry for the delay, I was answering a common question (http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/dangers-of-fireworks-and-explosives#post-52941)
YW Moderator-39Memberwhy does it say 2 posts if im the only one
I have figured out the reason for this occurrence. When a new topic gets started, it is shown to the mods under 2 categories. Posts for Moderation and Topics for Moderation. If we accept it initially under the ‘Topics for Moderation’ it goes up straight away, saying 1 post. However, since we are more often than not in the section ‘Posts for Moderation’ a moderator will approve it when approving others. This does not yet put it on the site, as the moderator will still need to give the approval under ‘Topics for Moderation’ Since it has been approved twice, it lists it as two posts.
This is also why it WILL take longer for a new topic to start versus a standard reply in an existing topic.
Hope this provides clarity,
YW Moderator-39
YW Moderator-39Memberso why the protest?
YW Moderator-39Membersqueak, why you getting upset? The only one deleted before Moshe’s comment (the one about the visit), was one where you had an immediate follow-up (which went through by the way)
March 4, 2009 9:06 pm at 9:06 pm in reply to: Different Pshat on Breaking the Glass at a Chasunah #640129YW Moderator-39MemberOr that the napkin the plate is wrapped in is folded over, providing added padding and protection
YW Moderator-39MemberMoish, Maybe they are trying to ‘make-up’ for the fact that they stayed out of WWII for so long. Not too sure you were happy about them staying out of that one
YW Moderator-39MemberOxford dictionary:
racism
bigot
/biggt/
YW Moderator-39Membermoish, I am upper class and I am not racist. I am against the poor behavior that people exhibit, regardless of skin color. Nazis were white and I hate them. Bill Cosby I really like. Go figure.
Do realize there is a difference between racism and bigotry
YW Moderator-39MemberIf you think it fits the criteria of being inspirational, I give you permission to post it. I’m not really ‘inspired’ by it.
FYI I am a sucker for quotes
YW Moderator-39Memberames, I just had to after your previous post
“Never argue with a fool. First they drag down to their level, then they beat you with their experience.”
YW Moderator-39MemberI wouldn’t go as far as to say people send in “treif”. More like highly inappropriate
YW Moderator-39MemberYes, Moish, I can, but do not post bad jokes. You will develop a reputation, which could lead to your posts being deleted simply because YOU sent them (among other things)
YW Moderator-39MemberMoish, Since when do we reward people for NOT doing the wrong thing? C’mon, you are better than that
YW Moderator-39MemberMoish, I cannot say where I am from, or where I am not.
Yes, Moish, they do come in under topics. They can be deleted automatically if they appear ti be in the wrong topic. We are trying to run an official and high-standard forum. We ask that the posters respect this and help us, so the mods can work quicker
YW Moderator-39MemberNot really. I can’t be bothered to check the work of the other Mods. However, when I do want some kicks, I check the list of old topic that have been deleted.
YW Moderator-39MemberFYI, I am currently reading the posts, (whether or not they get through).
YW Moderator-39Membernice try squeak, that was a quote from the previous poster. I had not yet learned how to use “blockquote”
