2scentsParticipant
depends, when I stand near a Skinny person, I am fat. when I stand near an overweight person suddenly I become Skinny!
2scentsParticipantI really depends on the details of the case.
I was once told by someone in the works, that there are neighborhoods, which have street justice.
they take care of their own problems. Not with banning the perpetrator from the shul.. rather by making sure that he will not physically be able to harm anyone!
November 10, 2011 9:24 pm at 9:24 pm in reply to: You know you spend too much time in the CR when #11973122scentsParticipantWhen you start complaining that the mods are not modding..
November 9, 2011 10:35 pm at 10:35 pm in reply to: vehicles with Hatzala permits not moving during alternate parking #8250152scentsParticipantThey can get a ticket.
However most of the times the cops will give the Emergency responder some courtesy and not issue a ticket. even though they have the right to ticket the Hatzalah member.
As i once heard from a Medic instructor, being an EMT or Medic is more than just double parking passing red lights and parking on the curve.
November 9, 2011 10:32 pm at 10:32 pm in reply to: Socia Security for Dummies- can I collect and be employed full time? #8251682scentsParticipantany CPA’s in the house?
no need to excuse yourself for making more than 100K, no need to be ashamed of that.
2scentsParticipantwe call it Mazal!
2scentsParticipantBoring?! is your bed boring too?
2scentsParticipantseeallsides.
you made me laugh, I know well what that is.
I have it all the time.
However look at it from the Person 4 perspective, what will 15 seconds do for you. since you did a large shopping, it means that you are in no rush.
sometimes i am that person just buying one small little thing. and there is this person who managed to get in front of me with this overloaded wagon. phew those grueling minutes..
2scentsParticipantso we have a dental technician in the house?!
2scentsParticipantI dont know the specifics.
so I will try to give you some advice.
this comes from someone that has a million things to do. and yes, gets them all done!
Start the day with making a list with the things what need to get done.
then start doing them, a very important thing is to DO ONE THING AT A TIME, and not to rest until this one thing has been done. never do half, since you will never finish up, and it will pile up.
you will see that before you know it, you will have accomplished a lot.
STEP TWO, the next morning, start off with making a new list. take the old list, take all the tasks that have not been done, put them on the top of the new list. then add the new tasks.
a good idea is to start your day early, so like that you get a head start.
This works for me.
2scentsParticipantlooks like they found a job..
2scentsParticipantno! please dont train girls to teach ttheir spouse middos. they should teach THEMSELVES middos!
same thing applies to Boys, dont think that you can be Mechanach your spouse, it aint gonna happen.
2scentsParticipantFruit salad
2scentsParticipantBTguy, I was not referring to the Halacha part of this.
since that is an entirely different subject.
I was referring to people which would refrain from having any relationship with anyone from the opposite gender, even if it would lead to no where. since they think that it is not appropiate.
if they have a problem chatting, debating and discussing things online even if they know (via the username or teh poster reveals it) that the poster is from the opposite gender.
2scentsParticipanti dont think that the BMI is an accuarte indicator, it might work for some but not for all.
when i was agressive with my weight, I was skinny, the doc told me that I reached my goal, and yet i was around 10-15 pounds above the BMI,
just make sure that your fit and most importantly HEALTHY.
and remeber, each workout by itsef wont do you much, its all the workouts together that do that job.
2scentsParticipantMoshiach HAS to come, that is not Childish.
However you do make a valid point, only that the other point of view is that this is a wake up call. nothing really changed, we need moshiach just as we needed him (and the Geulah) untill now, only that we just got hit.
not that we thought that Reb Nossun Tzvi AH will live forever, and we will move on. however we still lost something ,and it IS time to cry!
2scentsParticipantyou should be embarased ONLY if you wouldnt do it for someone else, be embarased and take it upon yourself to start acting better towards ANY other person.
I know that since you live in NY it might be a hard thing to do..
November 9, 2011 3:32 pm at 3:32 pm in reply to: Surgically created blue eyes and shidduchim #10884362scentsParticipantI dont think that it is Genaivas Daas,
since it IS Blue, whats the difference between blue from birth or not?
November 9, 2011 3:30 pm at 3:30 pm in reply to: Surgically created blue eyes and shidduchim #10884352scentsParticipantI dont want to sound like a broken record, however please dont give away any of your personal body features.
this has been discussed, I just want to remo=ind you about it.
November 9, 2011 3:28 pm at 3:28 pm in reply to: How to teach a child healthy eating habbits? #8252512scentsParticipanti also think that starting off young is a must.
however you must also set yourself as an example.
we gre up in a house that ate mostly healthy foods, never any sugary stuff let alone colored soda.
as of today I still maintain this, and mostly eat only healthy.
2scentsParticipantI will start with the few common things.
are you aware of any Dirah or Dorm that goes to sleep before 1 or two AM?
would you send your child to any yeshiva if that yeshiva also has bad (very bad students) only because there are some good ones too?
so what if the child is good, this doesnt mean that the child will not get influenced by some friends.
Astrix, stop with this Kedusha thing, you know that this is not true, no one goes nuts and the kedusha thing is not a factor. its the Hefkeirus!
i have been to lots of Diras, with Talmidim from famous YEshivos.
I have gone together with Friends who learned day and night, MOST of the them changed (to the worse)
you are being naive, this is a fact, I HAVE seen it, there is a huge Hefkeirus.
2scentsParticipantI copied this from the CR Rules.
3 – Do not request to be a moderator.
When ‘they’ feel that they need you, they will call you..
2scentsParticipantI never said that it is wrong or not.
this was not the point of this thread.
rather I was referring to people (from the context of some posts it is clear that some of those people do post here regularly) who would refrain from having ANY PERSONAL relation ship with someone from the opposite gender. If they think that it is OK to chat joke around and debate with someone in the CR even if they are clearly not the same gender.
If personal relationship with someone from the opposite gender is permitted or not, this is something that i did not want to touch.
2scentsParticipantJothar, your very funny!
I think that Question is, not what would have been better without Zionism, rather what good has come out of Zionism?
2scentsParticipantI read this thread while i was doing my workout..
However I would like to add my 2Scents here.
first, you will see very little or hardly any improvement in the beginning, not before a month or even two.
Second, this is from my personal experience, start slow. dont rush, you will become tired and fatigued.
start slow, let the first five minutes be a warm up, let your heart rate increase gradually and your muscles warm up slowly.
once you finished the warming up period, you should be able to do a good workout.
I started out with doing one mile in 15 minutes, i now do 5.5 miles in 50 minutes.
also, you must be consistent, it will do no benefit if you just workout once or twice, it must be on a constant bases.
give it a few months, you will see major improvement!
2scentsParticipantWhy put all the blame on the Mods?
Rather on the posters, lets go start posting, wake up..
2scentsParticipantSam2, as I pointed out, this is directed towards individuals who would refrain from having ANY personal relationship with someone from the opposite gender.
this is not about Halacha, only about opinion, if that same person feels that it is OK to have a relationship here.
i am here, thanks for the advice, however your statement does not contribute any substance to this thread.
November 7, 2011 1:47 am at 1:47 am in reply to: Cain/Gingrich debate tonight carried on C-Span #8243282scentsParticipantCain has been pretty consistent with his stance on the burning issues, this is what got him popular.
I still remember one of the early debates in which the candidates have been asked if they would or would not show the photos of the dead Osama.
all of them answered that they would, however it was clear that this is not THEIR position, rather what something that is popular.
Cain was the only one to answer NO. he said it without a blink shot it straight out.
he is a straight shooter, and knows what he believes in. and it so happens to be that on most issues he is on the right side.
2scentsParticipantImaofthree, you almost got my point, not entirely.
my concern was not that someone will get in touch with someone else as a result of the CR. only that people will have regular conversations with the opposite gender, something that this same person would not have done in real life, as you pointed out you would not want Abbaofthree comunicating in with other women in the CR (and here i am communicating with you..!)
2scentsParticipantdont know if the slow movement here is because the mods sleep, i think that its because the mods are busy, they have a full personal life!
2scentsParticipantthe Chofatz Chaim writes in the hakdoma of the MEshna Berura, that Aliba Dhilchisa should be ones priority.
thats why Orach Chayim should be the first thins one should learn.
teh Shach in Hilchas Talmud Tora states that one is yotze Mitzavs Limud Hatora only by Learning Aliba Dhilchisa.
2scentsParticipantWhat is considered active?
How many posts per day/week/month/year is required to be called active?
November 6, 2011 9:14 pm at 9:14 pm in reply to: Cain/Gingrich debate tonight carried on C-Span #8243252scentsParticipantIt’s the politicians that opened the door for China. Lifting the quotas, punishing the factories and taxing the factories.
How can we compete with China if we are being limited??
Cain knows that, for some reasons other politicians don’t. It’s not only about temporary tax breaks, there is a deeper problem here.
November 6, 2011 9:11 pm at 9:11 pm in reply to: Cain/Gingrich debate tonight carried on C-Span #8243242scentsParticipantWhy are you comparing Bloomberg to Cain?
Because they are both businessmen?!
I still think that my points are valid, this is besides the fact that he is straight forward. Unlike other political candidates.
2scentsParticipantI have seen posters get hooked onto each other, not that I think this relationship can get you anywhere. However is this appropriate?
Should a bachur start discussing things with a female teenager he doesn’t know??
2scentsParticipantI guess you got your answer. Tell her you saw it in the CR b’shem the mishna berurah. .
November 6, 2011 8:08 pm at 8:08 pm in reply to: vehicles with Hatzala permits not moving during alternate parking #8250132scentsParticipantThe reason these cars have these DOT permits is because they are on standby. As much as the cops who stop to buy a coffee.
They have a permit, end of story. You don’t like this then try having their permits removed, until then they are permitted to park LEGALY.
2scentsParticipantAlso, the claim that one can live the same with one kidney than with two. I don’t think is true. If Hashem yerachem gets cancer in ones kidney, They have a second one to spare. Not if they donated it.
However i do think that donating a kidney to another human being is a huge zechus and kiddush Hashem, yet I won’t do it.
2scentsParticipantI don’t value my kidney by what people are willing to offer.
If people offer five dollars for a pair of eyes does that mean that my eyes are only worth five dollars?
I don’t think money can be worth as much as a kidney.
2scentsParticipantSome chasidishe yeshivas do learn Shabbos.
2scentsParticipantall of you thinking of sending your children to Eretz Yisrael.
I was there, and saw what i saw, I will Bli Neder not send ANY of my Children there.
most of the Poeple that went while i was there, were doing things that their parnets would be horrified about. however they managed to have normal lives and move on.
the few that got hooked and caught on to the bad things over there, have gone of the derech, and are causing their parents much pain.
I spoke to a Rov about this, he has some knowledge in what is goion on, He told me that i am very right.
November 6, 2011 10:41 am at 10:41 am in reply to: Cain/Gingrich debate tonight carried on C-Span #8243192scentsParticipantI didn’t watch it, however I am still with Cain, since these allegations have not been proven and as of now they mean nothing at all.
Regarding the point that Aries mentioned, to me, a businessman Cain is the the BEST solution! For the reason you mentioned. We had enough of politicians. They work only for votes, don’t really understand how to bring back the times when America was actually a country that manufactured things.
Cain does, he understands that the private sector is what made American jobs. He shares my beliefs and ideas with the economy.
I sure hope he wins!
2scentsParticipantRegarding the legal part, it could be that the transaction will happen somewhere out of the country.
However I personally wouldn’t do it, my kidney is more worth than 150k.
2scentsParticipantI believe that donating a kidney is slightly more significant than donating 10 inches of hair.
2scentsParticipantthere is no clear cut path in Marriage.
IMO i think that most people have to learn what NOT to do or NOT to say, prior to learning what should be done.
2scentsParticipantWhy would one send a child overseas?
keep ’em home so that you have an eye on them.
I was there, and can say that most, not all but most Parents would cry if they know what else their children are doing (besides shtieging..)
2scentsParticipantit might add a layer of security here.
however as soliek pointed out, for those with the intention to hack the system, there are ways to do so.
also, it will distance people like me who are not up to the hassle of getting verified.
if verification was needed, i would never create an account here!
2scentsParticipantHey Jothar! you just revealed some info.. now we know your a Father.
2scentsParticipanteven if this is a good idea, it is very hard to do.
since the Girls dont go to BMG or any yeshiva, its each Girl on her own.
2scentsParticipantHaleiVi, sorry, i did not mean to stop this thread,
only that we should stop posting personal info and enjoy the fun!
