1dayatatimeParticipant“Ya they’re Chinese or french not Jewish.”
The head chef on the cruise was French, Head Sous-chef was Polish,
And the Chefs under them were, Indian, Filippino, some Asians, some South Americans, and one American (from 150)
1dayatatimeParticipant“the best chefs in the world are men”
Agreed
Though i’ve only eaten Kosher, so I wouldn’t know about a big part of the world
Here’s what I think: In the Home, the women make fantastic cooks
but, in retaurants, catering halls, etc.. it’s the men who dominate

1dayatatimeParticipantI know a decent number of guys, married and single, who enjoy cooking
“its a means to an end”
but, they may choose it as their livelihood because they have a passion for it
I was on a cruise once where %90 percent of the cooks were men
Those guys were probably the best cooks i’ve seen, the food was “ambrosial” (i learned that word on the P’tcha thread)

When you do become one, lemme know, i’d like to stop by for some cholent
1dayatatimeParticipantbpt
We sure did buy from restaurants, but we also cooked alot of stuff in the dira, when we were running short on money or were’nt lazy to cook
1dayatatimeParticipantIf you can share what was “Bad” about the dates where the guy was mentchlach so that i can better understand what you mean, that would be appreciated
I just cant stand what has become of dating and how scripted it has become
Have your mentor and follow their direction
All this talk and writing, not just in these forums, about dating and the likes, makes people sound like a bunch of objects who are expecting to marry objects
1dayatatimeParticipantbochur,
Agreed
oomis, dunno,
I can certainly understand the pain of the girl/guy who was on the receiving end of a date where the other party lacked basic respect(been there, hopefuly never done that)
from:wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn
I guess if you use the 2nd or 3rd defenition of those 3 defenitions, then you can use Horror to describe certain dates.
“While I fully agree with you that everyone should be a mensch, bad dates exist even if the guy is one.”
What was bad about it? The way you felt? The guy/girl?
If it was how “you” felt, I am %100 percent respectful about others feelings and would never disregard them. So you can say ” he/she was a nice person but I would not like to continue”
Was it circumstantial? Weather, cancilations? Beyond his control
But, if as you say that you had “bad dates” where the guy was mentchlach, and you still call it bad because of someway the guy appeared or you just simply didn’t like like him from the onset, then to call that BAD reeks of Gaava
A lack of being someone Dan l’kaf zechus has some hints of Gaava
Many Rebbes/Rosh Yeshivas say that it’s improper to talk to your friends about people you dated, for tznius reasons and lashon hara reasons

Sorry Hon, but I disagree
When you title it “worst dates”
or “Horror stories” it sounds
like the guy showed up with an
ax or something
When people share their stories
about how “bored” they were by
their date or someother mundane
stuff, it can lead to gaava of
the person telling it
I can understand stories about lack
of Mentchlechkeit are upsetting
but, to call them “worst” or
“Horror”, what does that say
about us? That we expect
perfectionism?
