They do some serious learning there, and, lots of fun activities
its run by a very sweet Rebbe (know him, but forgot his name)He’s a real great person
Basically its for Yeshivishe Bochurim looking to do something different for bain hazmanim, other than going to the catskills for the summer.
and they are hosted by the Ghermazium family, a wonderful family

Ahh the great drumming debate: Heel up or Heel down?
Drummers will tell you, that, there is no right way, whatever youre more comfortable with
Truth is, that, when playing double pedal you’re probably better off playing heel up, because like that you’ll have more power and more kick (boom) however, it does take time learning how to use the heel up method properly. Usually when starting out, using heel up, drummers will lift their whole foot tiring them out quickly, but, what i learned after time with the help of a drummer friend, is to put just the front bottom part of you’re foot into it, and slide it up the pedal from bottom to top as you kick. (not sure if im being clear)basically your heel should be about 2 inches off the ground, front part of foot on pedal and make it as if you would be sliding your foot up the pedal, without acctually doing so, you end up using your shin that way
You can check out Scott Travis, drummer for judas priest, he’s an amazing double bass player, to see what i mean

1dayatatimeParticipantI know of a mother who used to go with her son to movies. She said ” if he’s already going i may as well go along to make sure he’s ok” Not those words exactly, but, something to that effect
1dayatatimeParticipantAny Drummers here?

1dayatatimeParticipantEvery psychologist needs a Psychologist, is a very narrow minded idea, perpetuated, usually, by people trying to discredit the whole idea of therapy
Unfortunately, the idea of therapy is still stigmatic in our community, despite the number of people being helped by it, and changing their lives for the better
“Many if not most of psychologists and social workers needed a psychologist when they were younger.”

These difference of opinions confuse me
1dayatatimeParticipantI once, by mistake, gave a “yes” to two girls at the same time. One of my mentors told me to cancle on the one who I said yes to second, and my Rebbe told me to go out with both and that it won’t be an issue
My Rebbe was right, they both didn’t work out

I just found, that. for the Apples to be soft they need to bake al least an hour, but that would be too long for the crunch, so thats why i use the canned because it’s softer
But, I had another idea that you can bake just the apples with abit of water, covered with foil, untill their soft, and then put on the crumbs
1dayatatimeParticipantDunno
I’m a bit thirsty from all that ranting, can you get me some water please?
1dayatatimeParticipantI’m a good cook
Sac, let the games begin
1dayatatimeParticipantWould people feel bad if they were just invited for the dancing? Lets say, someone with an extended large family?
By the chasiddim, they invite people for simchas choson v’kallah,
They put out some kugel and stuff and everyone’s happy. Because if someone davens in Bobov, for example, where there are weddings all the time, and hundreds of people daven there, it works out much better this way

1dayatatimeParticipantHeres my pet-peeve
Non-brooklynites are always complaining about people not saying good shabbos
I decided to do a little experiment about this to see if they were right or not
Of all the people (males) I passed (about 20) to 11 of them I said good shabbos first and got a response, 6 said good shabbos first at which I responded, and only 2, whom I said good shabbos to first, did not respond.
1. The Gemara says to be Makdim Shalom_ If your expecting a good shabbos first, remember this maamar chazal
2. I’ve been noticing more and more, that people are saying good shabbos to each other
3. The accepted M’halech amongst most in BP, is to only speak to same gender-Don’t expect a good shabbos greeting from the opposite gender
Heres my biggest pet-peeve
I’ve been to alot of out-of-town places for shabbos, and I’ve not seen them to be much better than BP. I don’t know where all this hype comes from
There are a decent number of people whom I said good shabbos to first, so why is this any different than Brooklyn, where I get nice responses, and there were people who didn’t respond
IMHO it’s all…..

Hatzlocha, feel better and enjoy your stay in Florida

1dayatatimeParticipant“I can’t argue this point with you, TRS, because you are in pain and I don’t want to cause you more. I just want you to be aware, and others as well, that making excuses for “addicts” of any kind will keep them addicts. They need to be helped to be accountable and responsible.”
aries, you can’t argue, simply because you don’t understand TRS and others in this addiction
No program says that the addict should not be held accountable, the reason they come into program is to get help and to take responsibility for their actions.
I too have worked with many teens with drug and alcohol issues, and I still do, and can assure you that the addictions that these teens have and the ones described before, though they may have been caused by the same underlying reasons, the are very diiferent in many aspects
We are very AWARE
Perhaps you should join an S-anon meeting and you’ll understand better
1dayatatimeParticipantThe Gemara says to be Makdim Shalom L’reiecha
Never sink to a lower level, you do the right thing because that is who you want to be, not for anyone else
It’s hard, but, whenever i’m in the same type of situation, I always need to remind myself A. I cannot judge another because i don’t know whats going through their mind B. I do the right thing because that is who I want to be, not for someone else and despite anyone else

1dayatatimeParticipantThanks Aries
But like you said, you worked with Drugs and Alcohol
1dayatatimeParticipant“The Problem
Many of us felt inadequate, unworthy, alone, and afraid. Our insides never matched what we saw on the outsides of others.
We became true addicts
This produced guilt, self-hatred, remorse, emptiness, and pain, and we were driven ever inward, away from reality, away from love, lost inside ourselves.
First addicts, then love cripples, we took from others to fill up what was lacking in ourselves. Conning ourselves time and again that the next one would save us, we were really losing our lives.”
1dayatatimeParticipantaries
You obviously don’t have an understanding about addictions.
Not always does the person with the addiction know that they have one.
Those who realize that something is wrong, finally go for help. Others can live their entire life without realizing that they have a problem
1dayatatimeParticipantnice, it works
1dayatatimeParticipantlike this?
1dayatatimeParticipantto really
TFS- Thanks for sharing
