By Purim we follow the wonderful rule of:- “When in Rome, do as the Romans”.

Too bad this doesn’t work by Yom Tov Sheni.

If we were truly to literally follow Minhag Avoseinu beYodeinu:- bear in mind that a tourist at the Beis haMikddosh would have kept 1 day Yom Tov, since he would know exact day of Yom Tov, so a tourist today logically should be doing what our ancestral tourists would have done.

The only Sefeiko d’Yoma that shall continue is:- 1) Someone dying during Adar:- Shal Yahrzeit be in Adar 1 or in Adar 2? 2) Someone dying on 30th of month, and when goes Al Pi Re’Iyo:- Shall Johrzeit be on 29th or 1st when no 30th? 1) What to do with Yahrzeit’s on the 1st, when don’t if that day is going to end up being 1st or 30th? 4) Anyone between 90 degrees East of Yerusholayim and 180 degrees from Yerusholayim, not knowing whether in Halachic Far East or in Halachic Far West?

Let France do the dirty work of policing the Har haBayis:-

    1) No Issur for French Goyim to be on Har haBayis, unlike for Israeli Jewish soldier, where it is an Issur deOrraisso as per Parshas Poro, to ascend Har haBayis when Tomei. [Apart form being a Goy and not bound by Torah law, a Goy also cannot by definition be Tomei].

    2) Better have a French soldier risk their life than a Israeli Jewish Soldier.

    3) The Arabs will be less antagonized by a French heathen soldier, than by an Israeli Jewish Soldier.

    4) The world shall very quickly see, that even French Goyish soldiers are having an excruciatingly hard time maintaining the peace on the Har haBayis, and Israeli soldiers having to shoot Arabs, is not of our making, but is of the Arabs’ making, as the Franco’s shall also shoot Arabs for their own protection.

Avi Gordon:- Indeed I am IY’H going to go to Israel for 4 days as per your smart advice, and one liner is simply wrong; Maybe 4 days isn’t long, but if every Israel supporter would go for 4 days, or even just for 2 days like de Blasio, it all adds up & makes a wonderful dent in supporting Israel.

I go thru my own Shabbos project every week, 1st having to project my untimely early departure from work, and then having to prepare food upfront, and then after Shabbos having to tidy up from Shabbos.

Even at busy junctures in time, as this past month with a Chag each Monday, my own Shabbos project doesn’t take a break.

Not even for the busiest of all days:- i.e. Erev Pesach [2021, 2025].

Indeed. I’m in the middle of aveilus now, but I make a policy that if anyone else wants to daven, I let them. Bear in mind:

    1) A Yahrzeit has Kedimo over an Oveil during his 11 months

    2) Whereas one can go to great stride for 1 day, it is almost impossible to go to such strides for an entire 11 months, day in day out.

    3) Statistically, there are far more days spent as an Oveil, than as a Yahrzeit, because on average one goes thru 30 Yahrzeits per parent, assuming average age difference between parent & child to be 30 years, where the 11 months is approximately 324 days.

The Jekkish practice in marCheshvon is to observe BeHaB the last 2 Mondays in MarCheshvon with the intervening Thursday, so “the plumber” what I said was correct.

    1) Because as days get shorter, it makes fasting a shorter amount of time.

    2) The Mabul commenced marCheshvon 17th, and observing last 2 Mondays in marCheshvon, makes marCheshvon 17th, the earliest possible date that Sheni Kamo can come out on.

    3) It simulates Mishna in Taanis when 1st Taanis in case rain did not fall was be marCheshvon 17th.

Zionism: the root problem Such a theme exactly 1/2 year to the very day from Yom ha’Atazmaut is too outrageous to remain silent and not condemn. Today Medinat Yisrael is exactly 6&3/4 decades to the very day.

I shall IY’H be flying to Israel later this month to show my solidarity to Israel in this time of outrageous Arab violence, and shall be staying across the road from where this shocking attack in Geuloh was perpetrated this past Tuesday.

scared driver delight:- I bring to your attention, that the Amidah which you probably refer to as “Shemoneh Esrei” used to have 18 Benedictions, and despite addition of a 19th Benediction A.K.A. veLaMalshinim, still is known as Shemonei Esrei.

Ovinu Malkeinu used to have 37 stanzas, and more got added over the years.

I also refer you to Siddur Avodas Yisroel, as well as the Sefas Emes Sidur as well as Rodelheim Machor, whose Nusach still has 37 stanzas, which continues to be the Nussach recited @Yekkish Minyonim following Western European Nussach..

    mashiach agent:- 2 remarks to your observations;

    1) As to whether we are performing Teshuva as per Torah requirement in this week’s Parsha of Nitzovim, let the rabbi of your shul determine this with you, perhaps during his Shabbos Shuva sermon, and don’t decide this on your own.

    2) Count our benedictions as to how many Gedolim we have been adorned with, and bear in mind that s substantial # of them have been blessed with very lengthy Arichas Yomim.

In previous generations, Only one person would say Kaddish in the entire shul. That all mourners say Kaddish is a very recent innovention what zahavasdad said, is the only response addressing your legitimate concerns wolfish musing; Hence:- How about attending a Minyan, where only 1 person recites any given Kaddish as per original Takono. Some Shuls, such as Breuer’s, still rigorously adhere to this practice, so this would be a wonderful venue for your wolfish musing, to see out your remaining 5 months.

14 years ago, we all were petrified, tonite being 14th Johrzeit of the World Trade Center O’H; What trepidation we experienced on that R’H 5662 [2001]. As we recited “Mo bo’Eish” on that R’H 14 years ago, we just couldn’t bring ourselves to utter these painful words.

FYI Sam2, AnnonymouscMember is so correct & on the ball. When I was young, everyone waited until after Tisha b’Ov to vacation, as the 3 weeks are time for introspection of our national loss/lack of Bais-haMikdosh.

Albeit technically there maybe nothing wrong in traveling & taking a vacation, it certainly doesn’t exhibit any atmosphere of truly feeling despondent over our lack/loss of Bais-haMikdosh.

Despite the numerous details of Halocho pertaining the 3 weeks, the bottom line is:- Are we feeling our loss? as is AnnonymouscMember.
