April 10, 2016 3:56 am at 3:56 am in reply to: Do I greet with a Gut Shabbos or a Gut Voch? #1145848147Participant
With a Chodesh Tov uMevoroch, because even if already Nisson 2nd, there still remain 29 days of Nisson worthy of being felicitated with a Chodesh Tov uMevoroch.
147Participantmdd:- Because I am sick & tired of the establishment, and am petrified at prospect of a Democrat getting the white house and extending obama’s disastrous legacy.
Trump is straight to the point. As for his latest tirade about abortions:- Trump is so correct:- Abortion = Murder.
147Participant2scents:- Nothing whatsoever to do with sugar. I drink plenty sweet wine. It is solely to do with acid content, and for same reason hence that I don’t drink orange juice.
Grape Juice is nothing short of a fruit juice full of acid, but alcohol in wine kills the acid.
147Participantwell some of us shall be utilizing toys during the Seder, such as toy replicas of the plagues, & we are not placing a Shailo with rebyidd123 on this issue, to get his green light.
147ParticipantDid Haman’s Hat Really Have 3 Corners?, who cares?
147ParticipantAfter several years of inviting guests to the Seder, this year I am only having my children, so that I can give them, undivided attention, and not have to deal with guests arriving late [especially this year that it shall get nite later than most years], and then whether my daughters can sing in front of other men, and quite clearly, Seder nite is my children’s time for them.
147ParticipantAccording to my logic, Turkey has for ever been a place to avoid, not even setting foot there for changing planes, so all this hype now, is absolutely nothing new whatsoever.
147ParticipantMy wife reached her height of recognition in 2009 when the house was rented for the filming of a movie. I assume ctlawyer, that this was a movie about Birkas haChamo?
147ParticipantDespite my incredibly hectic schedule 4 days before onset of Pesach, I shall be taking time out from my most heavy schedule, to vote in NY state primary for Donald Trump 4 days before Pesach, and look forward to voting for President Trump come November 8th.
147ParticipantI know nothing about grape juice, quite simply, because I cannot medically drink grape juice. I can only drink wine, which works fine for me.
147ParticipantI want to use matza meal in a recipe and am not sure if it’s ok. You can even on Erev Pesach before last 1/4 of the day, utilize matza meal in a recipe such as matza balls or filter fish balls if the item is then cooked, so Al Achas Kamo veKamo that you can surely enhance your Purim Seudo with such an item.
147ParticipantDivorce is Worse than a Difficult Marriage Is divorce also worse than a marriage where the other spouse has moved out? and is refusing to move back in.
147ParticipantBecause last year was 19 days earlier than this year.
147ParticipantYou had a Pesak, so follow the Daas Toraoh of your local Orthodox Rabbi. Nowhere does the Pesak say, that you cannot leave your hat @Shul, so can still wear your hat during services.
As far as picking up your hat, you didn’t make any mention of walking 4 Amos after picking up your hat before placing hat on thy head, so I don’t see any Hotza’ah taking place.
March 6, 2016 1:07 am at 1:07 am in reply to: survey – how often do you [men] daven for the amud? #1141155147ParticipantNote that for Ma’ariv, where the only change was the Shir HaMa’alos at the beginning wolfmusings:- I have an important message for you:- Shir haMa’alos at beginning of Ma’ariv, is not exclusive to Nusach Sefard. Jekkes who pray Nusach Ashkenaz also recite Shir HaMa’alos at commencement of Ma’ariv, even during Chol haMoed.
As for how often I am on Omud:- Every Minjan I attend, even semi regularly, they already know I am cut out for the Omud, & I am almost never able to escape the Omud. Even as soon as I was over my 11 months, I could not even escape the Omud a day or 2 after that. Even during my Aveilus, the Rabbi Paskened I had a Din of a regular on Omud, and not to lead services for an entire year on Shabbos or Yom Tov, would constitute Aveilus beFarHesyo, so I had to continue on Omud even during Sheloshim let alone for entire 12 months.
These past few years, I haven’t even been able to escape from Tephilas Tal, even when exhausted from Seder nite.
147ParticipantFor sure:- Always the girl!!
147ParticipantWait for the truth of Obama’s Kenyan birth to come to the fore after he leaves office.
147ParticipantIce cream Ice cream Ice cream & more Ice cream
February 19, 2016 5:13 am at 5:13 am in reply to: Can folks who celebrate Valentine's Day be counted for a minyan? #1139371147ParticipantIn view of the tragic decision from the supreme court this past year, it is now a Hora’as Sho’oh, that better to be involved in valentine celebration and stay away from what supreme court tragically declared ok.
February 19, 2016 5:10 am at 5:10 am in reply to: Orthodox hats for Shabbos — what do you wear? #1151969147ParticipantOut here in Johannesburg, it is right now roasting so hot [low 30’s Celsius], that the 1 & only correct hat for Shabbos is a white straw hat.
147ParticipantHer 81st Yahrzeit is round the corner, coming up Adar hoRishon 26th.
February 18, 2016 4:43 am at 4:43 am in reply to: The 9/11 Jihad Terrorist Attacks Marked The End Of Galus Edom #1138011147ParticipantMashiach agent: 9/11 has been even more around for these past 77 years since Crystal Nacht on 9/11/38 = November 9th, 1938.
9/11 marked the end of the twins towers whose both implosions I witnessed with my very own eyes.
147ParticipantBetter Trump selecting next supreme court judge, than Obama or Bernie or Hillary.
147Participantmany times Purim Kattan falls out on Friday, Purim Kotton can only be on a Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday.
It occurs 7/19 of years, Friday indeed being most frequent day, Sunday being ever so marginally more often than on Tuesday, and on a Wednesday exceedingly rarely [approximately 4 time a century].
February 9, 2016 4:49 am at 4:49 am in reply to: How to Deal with a Request for a Shidduch Picture #1136581147ParticipantGo with the flow and supply a good photograph:- Remember:- A picture is worth 1000 words. It is this simple! Period!
147ParticipantIf you don’t know what to learn, come up to the YU book-sale:- There simply won’t be any shortage of good ideas for what to procure and learn.
147ParticipantHow Do You Feel the Presence of God? By eradicating every single cell phone from every Shul in the universe, just as Bloomberg works on eradicating every single gun from the USA, and just as de Blasio now wishes to eradicate every crane from NYC.
February 9, 2016 4:41 am at 4:41 am in reply to: The Root Behind The Palestinian/Israeli Conflict Really Just Has To Do WithI #1136777147ParticipantBottom Line:-Halocho:- Eisov Sonei es Yaakov!!
147ParticipantPeople who can’t shut up must be shunted out & expelled from every single Shul in the world:- No exceptions!!
147Participantspread it out over the day. Depending on how much the kids come home with for Maggid, determines how spread out the 4 cups are.
147ParticipantI have already been on 2 solidarity missions to Israel this winter, and am IY’H slated to go on my 3rd solidarity mission to Israel in 6 weeks from now.
On my 1st solidarity mission, I was safely spending Shabbos in Yerusholayim having prayed Kabolas Shabbos at the Kossel, when 130 people that very same nite got savagely murdered in Paris.
The state department had Israel on a watch list but not France, but B’H I defied the state department, and went to Yerusholayim & not to Paris.
Last week’s Parsha mentioned Yehoshu’a by his elongated name in conjunction with Amoleq, [despite his elongated name being assigned to him in Shelach Lecho in conjunction with the Meraglim], so now is absolutely not the time to be scared away from Israel Chas veSholom.
147ParticipantIt surely is never too soon for “Teka beShofor Godol leCheiruseinu” which is based on the famous Posuk of “veHoyo baYom haHu yiToka beShofor Godol” which as everyone knows is in this Haftoro of Shemos.
147ParticipantI bought a plot some years ago:- Is this tantamount to having dug my own grave?
December 13, 2015 3:12 pm at 3:12 pm in reply to: Do you know any chassidish Rebbes that I can get brachos from? #1116734147Participantphones have been around since Tuesday September 27, 1870 [2nd day of R’H 5631] {& more archaic systems were already around even before then} so it shouldn’t be too hard some 145 years later, to find a Rebbe who has a telephone.
December 13, 2015 1:42 am at 1:42 am in reply to: Do you know any chassidish Rebbes that I can get brachos from? #1116729147ParticipantWhich type of Benediction are you Kadosh123 seeking?
December 13, 2015 1:41 am at 1:41 am in reply to: Who needs ("professional") Shadchanim, anyways? #1144546147ParticipantWho needs (“professional”) Shadchanim, anyways? Not people who enjoy their computers and flock to sites like Orthodate & Jwed.
147ParticipantWhen reciting “Matir Assurim” in 2nd benediction of Amida today:= Should I be Mechavein to Jonathan Pollard coming out of jail today?, or because of the numerous restriction being placed on his parole”= Does it mean that this “Matir Assurim” has no serious connection to Mr. Pollard’s situation.
147ParticipantMr. Ezra Schwartz of mount sinai shul:- Contact mount sinai shul to find out funeral details.
November 13, 2015 7:56 am at 7:56 am in reply to: I'm going to Eretz Yisrael-looking for ideas, advice… #1111576147ParticipantI am on my solidarity trip to Israel, and went somewhere great this morning:- I prayed Shacharis & Mussoph @Kossel this morning.
How about all of you out there also coming to Israel.
147ParticipantI am currently on my solidarity trip to Israel, and prayed Shacharis & Mussoph @Kossel this morning, and have strong advice for each & every reader in the coffee room:- Emulate me and come out to Israel immediately, and let’s all demonstrate our unequivocal & staunchest support for our beloved Eretz Yisroel.
147ParticipantTzfas is a wonderful place. I once stayed in that hotel during 1979, albeit I have been back to Tzfas numerous times since then.
Definitely go to Tzfas:- Especially this week, as Rivko went to seek out haShem c/o Yeshiva Shem v’Ever, which was located in what is today Tzfas.
147ParticipantEnough that I go to an earlier stop, where there is more availability of seats.
147ParticipantAny Seforim store in Israel including ones in Meoh Sheorim [see this week’s Parsha for origins of name of Meoh Sheorim] or bookstore at Tachanat Merkazit will gladly sell these Siddurim to you. You can also get “Nehalel” Siddur at YU Seforim sale, only another 3 months to go until February.
I am going on a solidarity mission to Israel this week, to spite the Arabs, and would be more than happy to pick up these Siddurim for you.
147Participantscared driver delight:- Are you a Posek? Have you ever been in this situation? I am such an Ohev Yisroel, that I go exceedingly often to Israel {& even this is not enough in my opinion}, and yes:- This is the 4th time in 10 years, that I am handling this “veSen Tal uMotor” saga, and the 4th time in 10 years, that I shall be handling it the same method as the previous 3 times.
scared driver delight:- I shall not stand in Israel idly by, when our Dear Israeli Brothers are in dire need of rain, and just ignore their plight & be Poresh Min haTzibur refraining from joining them in beseeching rain from the Ribbono Shel Olom.
147ParticipantI am finally IY’H going on my solidarity trip to Israel this week, so will finally be commencing “veSen Tal uMotor” as soon as I am Zoche to set foot on Admas Kodesh BE’H later this week.
I am well cognizant of what a great Zechus it is to be Zoche to be able to set foot into Eretz Yisroel, just thinking back of how Moshe Rabbeinu prayed 515 requesting/imploring haShem to enter Eretz Yisroel, and sadly was denied this privilege.
In more contemporary times, just thinking about Jonathan Pollard who shall be coming out of jail in 13 days time, and yet shall be denied opportunity of going to Israel, for another 5 years.
147ParticipantSomething like the Kol Rinah or Koren siddurim should not be allowed in any Jewish home. nishtdayngesheft:- FYI:- The Rinat Yisrael Siddur, and the Koren Siddur are both excellent Siddurim, both of which I possess several copies & frequently utilize. Another great Siddur, is the “Nehalel” Siddur for Shabbos, which I now utilize each & every Shabbos..
147ParticipantSorry I cannot help you; I possess many Siddurim, but don’t possess any Artscroll Siddurim, nor ever utilize an Artscroll Siddur. Even when in a Shul where I need to utilize 1 of their Siddurim,I make sure never to utilize an Artscroll Siddur, since Artscroll cannot dictate Nussach haTefillo for the masses.
147ParticipantWhat an incredibly smart guy, your friend is:-
1) Less work for overburdened Shadchonim;
2) He is no longer amongst the multitude of singles.
3) Guaranteed, that the computer shall never some after him for Shadchonus money, so saved himself a small fortune.
147ParticipantCame late:- Tough luck mate! .. Repeating Borchu after Maariv is an absolute No No, and absolutely off limits.
If this incident had occurred at Breuer’s, this culprit would encountered even more than just 1 screaming Gabbai.
147ParticipantMinhag haGra does not apply to “Moreshes Ashkenaz” nor to “Sephardim” who already have well established Minhogim, and must not deviate 1 iota from them.
