Following the Florida Shovu’os massacre, clearly President Donald Trump is so correct to frame Moslems. This mass murderer had been eyed by the authorities, but because of political correctness, was free to roam the streets & murder 50 people.
147ParticipantThe Torah is Sefer Devorim several times addresses them as “Asseres haDevorim”
Then when you consult Sefer haChinuch, you shall note that the Asseres haDibros do contain 14 Mitzvos [precepts].
147ParticipantAt this time of the year, before Shabbos commences in parts of Alaska, you can already call someone up in Australia to wish them Shavu’s Tov before commencing Alaskan Shabbos.
147ParticipantIf you are moving from a swing state, wait until after November 8th to move, as Illinois is always democrat.
147ParticipantHow about the one most respectful about Yom Yerusholayim this Sunday.
BTW:- Stay away from sects who have 2 or zero Rebbes, and spare yourself all unnecessary grief. Only consider sects who have 1 sole Rebbe.
May 30, 2016 11:00 pm at 11:00 pm in reply to: Is the Outrage Over The Killing of Cecil the Lion Justified? #1154223147ParticipantIf this gorilla had not been shot and hence G-d forbid would have mawed & killed this boy, in all likelihood, they would have ended up euthanizing this gorilla, just like this startled dog who killed a 3 days old baby, ended up being euthanized.
May 30, 2016 5:05 am at 5:05 am in reply to: Stealing permitted in order to save ones life? #1153424147ParticipantThe Italian court on May 3rd issued a ruling that a homeless person who has nothing to eat, and hence stole a small amount of food from supermarket to stave hunger:- That was not deemed stealing, and wasn’t illegal.
So c/o the Italian court, ee have a new definition of stealing being permitted to save human life.
May 30, 2016 5:01 am at 5:01 am in reply to: Is the Outrage Over The Killing of Cecil the Lion Justified? #1154209147ParticipantIs it fare that when you desecrate Shabbos or eat leaven on Pesach, that the bullock who never sinned should have to die and not the human being A.K.A. the Shabbos desecrator? Is it fare that the goat should be hurled from the mountain on Yom Kippur albeit the goat has never committed a sin instead of some guilty human sinners?
In haShem’s infinite wisdom, haShem has deemed human life far superior to animal life, and this is just the way haShem wishes/wills it.
147ParticipantWhen you Britons exit the EEU:- Are you shutting down the Chunnel?
147ParticipantMusic restrictions are suspended for Yom ha’Atzma’ut:- Would this suspension this year apply to the Mukdom date of Thursday Iyyor 4th? or the biZemano date of Friday Iyyor 5th?
147ParticipantCompared to Obama, Ben Gurion was a far better person.
147ParticipantWe’re noheg that there’s no issue of doing bikur cholim on shabbos. likewise there is no issue of doing Bikur Cholim on Yom ha’Atzma’ut, and wishing the Choleh/Choloh a Yom ha’Atzma’ut Sameach. Bringing an Israeli flag to a Choleh/Choloh who already is missing all the usual Yom ha’Atzma’ut festivities, would surely uplift his/her spirits.
147Participant4 is connected to Thanksgiving; Yehudah was 4th tribe, in conjunction with whose birth Le’oh says:- “haPa’am Odeh Es haShem”
Orlah after 3 years, in 4th year is called “Kodesh Hilullim” an expression of praising [Same verb as Hallel which we recite today for Yom ha’Atzma’ut] when we take the fruit to Yerusholayim, and consume the fruit in Yerusholayim [Just 23n days left until Yom Yerusholayim].
Talking about 4, Thanksgiving is on 4th Thursday in November.
Now you Hashemisreading have a Devar Toroh on Kedoshim, whose # of Pesukim is “4 cubed”
147ParticipantUntil the Ben Eretz Yisroel reaches a Jewish settlement in Chutz o’Oretz, s/he has no obligation on Yom Tov Sheni to abstain from Meleches Avodah.
We did look at a Hebrew calendar and the ones in Israel don’t have a second day printed on it. More likely it had “Nosso” printed on it in conjunction with Shabbos Erev Shovu’os.
147Participantthey weren’t too far off this is so correct:- Just 2&1/4 centuries left until the great year of 6000, when world shall be returning to Tohu vaVohu.
147ParticipantAs of tonite, being Toch Sheloshim Yom of Shovu’os, I have to bring to your attention Okiale in no uncertain terms, that when you IY’H shall be staying up Shovu’os nite, and praying @Daybreak come Shovu’os morning, there is a tremendous unresolved sofek laHalocho if you can make a Benediction on your Tallis Kotton, which has been on you all Shovu’os nite. … By wearing a Talis Godol, you evade & avoid this entire issue, and can peacefully bless over it, without any compunctions whatsoever. … As an aside, this even helps you get 1 closer to 100 Benedictions per day, come 1st day Shovu’os.
147ParticipantI appreciate the Medinah which has opened it gates wide to welcome all world Jewry, and hence this 68th [Gematriah:- Chaim] Yom ha’Atzma’ut is a true time of Thanksgiving to the Ribbono Shel Olom.
147ParticipantThe bottom line Okiale is, that so long as you were clad in your Tefillin even just for a split second, you have fulfilled Torah obligation of Laying Tefillin for that day. … This that we ordinarily lay Tefiilin in conjunction with prayer time; i.e. Schacharis or Mincho on Tish b’Ov, certainly doesn’t in anyway absolve you from laying Tefillin simply because you cannot pray before going to work.
In theory you also shouldn’t eat before laying Tefillin; Hence a good reason to lay Tefillin in morning even if you don’t have time to pray; Needless to say, even if you did eat, you still have a Torah obligation to lay Tefillin, and still recite the applicable Berochos for laying Tefillin.
147ParticipantThere is an Atrtscroll Sepher in English on topic of Kaddish which you can procure.
This elongated Kaddish which you are inquiring about is said at funeral & Siyum, both representing the conclusion of a chapter of life, be it someone who just passed away, or the life of a specific tractate. Hence the 1st part of Kaddish being the same for these 2 occasions, albeit on no Tachnun days such as today Yom ha’Atzma’ut this elongated Kaddish is relegated to a regular Kaddish, whereas by a Siyum this elongated version is still recited.
May 12, 2016 9:48 pm at 9:48 pm in reply to: Why Don't People Put Their Names/Addresses In Their Tallis/Tefillin Bags? #1151643147ParticipantWhy Don’t People Put Their Names/Addresses In Their Tallis/Tefillin Bags? I guess I am not part of the human race nor part of “people”, since I have had my Business card in my Tefillin bag for decades already; This in addition to keeping a pocket mirror in my Tefillin bag.
147ParticipantHashemisreading:- You already missed kedoshim by 1 week. This week is Parshas Emor.
147ParticipantAgree, if you were saying both, I’d think it would go before. 2 separate reasons to be Makdim Tachanun to Hsllel:-
1) Perek 6 in Tehillim precedes Perek 113-118, and if read in Serugin {wrong order} probably not Yotzei.
2) Todir veShe’Eino Todir:- Todir Kodem.
147ParticipantI hereby wish everyone a sincere Yom ha’Atzma’ut Sameach, both to those who are observing Yom ha’Atzma’ut today Mukdom as well as those who are observing Yom ha’Atzma’ut tomorrow biZemano.
147ParticipantOkiale:- Please be my guest for Shabbos. When I chanted “Kol deiTzerich Yeissei veYeichol” it was an extended invitation for all Shabbosses, especially this year that this phrase was chanted on a Leil Shabbos..
147ParticipantThe chofetz chaim is not the same as Rabbi AKiva zahavasdad:- Please let me refer you to an exceedingly famous Mishna in tractate Rosh haShono:- Yiftach beDoro kiShemuel beDoro.
147ParticipantEven in Britain where there is a 3rd party:- Liberal Democrats, voting for them is largely a lost vote, as they barely have any seats in Parliament:- 8 out of 650 seats,& even in the last parliament with 23% of the popular vote, they only had 57 out of 650 seats. … Then again:- Unless you reside in a battleground state, what difference does it make? whom you vote for.
147ParticipantI hereby wish all Klal Yisroel [albeit belatedly for Israelis] “Isru Chag Sameach”.
147ParticipantI was already Zoche this year to make Pesach for the 3328th time.
April 26, 2016 9:26 pm at 9:26 pm in reply to: Can't Eat By In-Laws Who Eat Gebrochts on Pesach #1149841147ParticipantWe live in the throw away society, so simply procure some fancy paper plates for the son in law who won’t eat of your regular Pesach Keilim, despite the Halocho being that so long a the vessel was washed from Kitnios or/& Gebrokts, can be utilized by the son in law who won’t eat Kitnios nor Gebrokts. …. Meanwhile we enjoyed tasty Matzo Balls @Sedorim and over the 1st days & over Chol haMoed.
147ParticipantBe Makneh your Matzo [meal] to the zoo animals or failing that to the zookeeper {not the one killed in a FL zoo on Friday Nisson 7th], and then you shall be able to cook this Matzo meal into Matzo balls this Friday Shevi’i Shel Pesach for Shabbos Acharon Shel Pesach.
147ParticipantRead Chol haMoed section of Yated Ne’eman
147ParticipantYesOrNo:- Shalom Bein our stomachs LaMatzo
April 25, 2016 1:34 am at 1:34 am in reply to: The Longest Seder ContestHow Late Will Your Seder End? #1199621147ParticipantWe comply with the Remo [whose 444th is fast approaching being this year Lag b’Omer] and consumed all 4 cups both nites prior to Chatzos, and next 4 mornings I shall make it my business to comply with the Remo by making Benediction over my Tefillin on Chol haMoed.
147ParticipantIf you were unable to attend a Seder:- Is there such a thing as making it up a few days later? because apparently Obama won’t be able to hold a Seder @White House BiZemano, due to his trip to Saudi Arabia & Britain, and yet is making his Seder a week later when he returns to the White House.
147ParticipantThis year with all the days of Chol Hamoed falling out midweek Right now:- 6 out of 8 years, 2015 thru 2022, so even more worth the price than you Ephraim had realized.
147ParticipantConsidering that the President of the State of Israel took the trouble of traveling to Bnai Beraq to meet one of the top Gedolim in Israel {possibly The Godol haDor] ahead of Pesach [as reported on YWN], and that the President of the State of Israel received the Chief Rabbi of Yerusholayim yesterday at Beit haNassi, in order to sell all Chometz located at the “Beit haNassi” [as reported on YWN], shows that the President of the State of Israel holds very highly of Choshuv Rabbonim and shows them considerable respect, despite his own prestigious position.
147ParticipantTaking solidarity trips to Israel:- I have already taken 3 such trips just this winter alone.
April 18, 2016 3:43 am at 3:43 am in reply to: NeutiquamErro's favorite thread with an obscure title #1147696147ParticipantBTW filter fish made with Matzo meal, can even be consumed on Erev Pesach until beginning of last 1/4 of the day, because since “Yesh Bishul Acharei Afiyo”, it no longer is considered Matzo unlike Matzo Meal cake which cannot be consumed all day ERev Pesach, since “Ein Afiyo Acharei Afiyo”.
April 18, 2016 3:36 am at 3:36 am in reply to: Has Antipathy on Zionism Gone the way of the Dodo Bird? #1147753147ParticipantThe “Au Daudau” is coming up on Iyyor 13th in Israel, and Iyyor 20th in Chutz lo’Oretz in Behar.
Until then, I cannot even think of dodo, as this closely reminds me about “Idi Amin Dada”, whom unfortunately I am old enough to remember him only too well, especially vis a vis this tragic hostage taking to Entebbe almost 4 decades ago already.
147ParticipantMaybe it is because the Bavli is much easier to learn? This was for the past millennia, but with the recent advent of the Yedid Nefesh translation of Yerushalmi into Ivrit by Rav Yechiel Avrohom Bar Lev shlita, & Steinsaltz on Peoh, and even more recently with Artscroll bringing out Yerushalmi tractate by tractate, the Din for someone today not learning Yerushalmi, shall be far more severe than for any past generation.
I have already learned Shevi’is twice, once each past Shemita, as well as Berochos & Peoh, and IY’H more to come.
147ParticipantNot like you, 147. I expected exact number of days, hours and minutes, Yekke2:- This is because I don’t which Pesak you Yekke2 hold by? Do you hold that Yom ha’Atzmaut is held biZemano on Friday Iyyor 5th? or Mukdom to Thursday Iyyor 4th.
Not wishing to get involved in this Machlokes ha’Achronim, I felt it safer to stay aloof of deciding 1 way verses the other way.
147ParticipantPlease bear in mind, that this year on 1st & 8th day Pesach being Shabbos, we cannot soak our Matzo in coffee if in Keli Sheni & above Yad Soledes Bo, as “Yesh Bishul Acharei Afiyo”; This was heard at a Shabbos haGodol Derosho earlier today.
147Participanton Shabbos Chol Hamo’ed Between last year 2015 & 2022, only having Shabbos Chol haMoed Pesach twice; 6 in 8 years with no Shabbos Chol haMoed Pesach, so this topic is not all too relevant during this 8 year time frame.
147ParticipantMay you merit to come into the Yom Tov with Joy and Enthusiasm, Shalom & Menuchas Hanefesh, Thank you for your effusive wishes Mr/s yesorno. Does your wish of “Shalom” imply coming into Yom Tov with “Shalom Aleichem” this year?
147ParticipantI won’t be swayed by anyone in this coffee room, to determine whom I am voting for this coming Tuesday. But I have spent plenty time pondering this decision, and am satisfied that I have made an informed decision in good faith.
147ParticipantIs Zionism the Yetzer Hora? we are already “Toch Sheloshim Yom” of Yom ha’Atzma’ut, and the question on this title is filthy disgusting, and answer is:- A resounding No! But clearly such a libelous title, should be closed down by the moderators immediately if not sooner.
April 12, 2016 3:20 am at 3:20 am in reply to: Family Traditions that are more widespread than you think #1151396147Participantubiquitin:- Do you mean you never wear a Kittel? or are you talking about Seder nite that you don’t wear a Kittel.
147ParticipantUtah:- I am having fire on a big empty open space:- Being from Utah out in the West, you should be most familiar with many big empty open spaces.
147ParticipantI am having FIRE in 12 days time to devour my Chometz.
147ParticipantI surmise that Obama has an offshore account in Kenya where he was born.
