I get all my shirts at a shirt store outlet in Herald Square, and always buy french cuff shirts, albeit much cheaper than any shirt store in BP.

I don’t wear short sleeve shirts, because the last time I did so in the 1980’s, my arms got burned by the sun, and it was too hot to wear a jacket, so by wearing long sleeved shirts in summer, I don’t require a jacket to protect my arms from the sun blaze.

Having Egg Matzos this past Shabbos should not have been a problem for Israelis, since they can be owned during Pesach.

I know of 1 Shul, where they always give to the older Ovail, claiming that this way, no-one can argue, and it is clear cut who should receive the Omud.

In my estimation, this is nothing short of discrimination on grounds of age.

    We catch up BeHar BeChukosai

However in leap years such as 2016, 2019, 2022 we don’t catch all the way until Mattos Massei, as happenned in 1978, 1992, 1995, so that Bemidbar is read on Erev Shovu’os rather than Nosso. [In Israel, it is beyond control of the calendar to take care of this issue in such years]

    Pesach 1980 V Pesach 2012.

2012 saw Pesach on a Shabbos [1st time in 14 years], and a full week Chol haMoed.

1980 saw Pesach on a Tuesday [1st time in 7 years], and a very truncated Chol haMoed.

There is 1 bottom line, which Mayor Mike Bloomberg addressed as recently as yesterday afternoon in DC {Yes! He took out time from his busy Pesach schedule to address this urgent issue}:- …. When will these archaic laws in FL be changed, and will it become harder for people to have legitimate guns?

Guns breed death! No 2 ways about it! Whatever Mike Bloomberg did right or wrong:- He will have 1 wonderful legacy:- Leave our streets & society >> Gunless!!

This is the 1 & only solution. Period.

When we named our daughter, we transliterated a grandmother’s Jiddish name to Hebrew, and we have never looked back nor regretted our wise decision.

To stick a Jiddish name as some 2nd name and never call her by it except og her Kesuvoh, go for 1 Hebrew name which will be happily utilized by all.

Jekkes do not wear a Kittel on Seder nite. They make up, by wearing a Kittel on Rosh haShono.

Some Haggodos leave out the verse of “b’Domayich Chayi” because at that point, are 2 verses in the wrong order, verse 7 followed by verse 6, so ratrher than recite 2 verses in the wrong sequence, they leave out 2nd verse.

Shmoel:- The Mekor for not wearing a Kittel during Shono Rishono:-Touch base with Moreinu hoRav Hamburger shlita:- Director & Poseik & Rav of Moreshes Ashkenaz, who has clearly paskened, that don’t wear a Kittel during Shono Rishono.

Since on Passover we became a nation, we must immediately stamp out pride & Ga’avah as we embrace freedom, hence Davko on Pesach we keep away from fluffy Chometz which represents Ga’avah.

Of-course gaining of freedom by Yovel was also a serious concern, hence the Eved awaits a further 10 days from R’H thru Y’K to attain his freedom, when the fear of the Asseres Yemei Teshuvah should help him steer away from Ga’avah.

I already encountered this issue years ago, when some Chassidic guy in full garb, asked me for change to buy food to feed the goats in Central Park Zoo.

I am there in this bright suit & colored shirt, telling him:- Do you realize that this is Chometz Gomur? (& I figured this out myself without the assistance of a rabbi). He was shocked & didn’t want to belief me, but eventually succumbed, and altered his plans he had been planning on, to feed the goats.

Your question Simcha613 is very well founded & taken.

To me Shabbos nite is from sunset/nitefall on a Friday until Alos haShachar on a Saturday morning. REason:- Because this is the nite as abstain from Melocho, as per the 4th commandment in the Torah.

Saturday nite thru Sunday morning, by definition is Leil Rishon, or Motzei Shabbos, but certainly is not Shabbos nite, because on that nite I perform Melocho all the way from lighting & extinguishing a Havdolo candle + a lot more.

Even this Saturday nite I shall be performing Melocho when I light my Yaknehaz lite, and then Saturday nite 7 weeks later, I shall also be performing Melocho, when I light my Yaknehaz lite & then carry my Tikkun Leil Shovu’os on Broadway [A Reshus hoRabim miDeOraisso] to Shul.

    There is no prohibition to give him more, but if you decide just to give him a Shoveh Peruta, you have violated nothing;

Just as it was up to Kohanim & Leviyim to befriend fellow Yisroelim, to get into their good books, to hope the Yisroel would use his free discretion to donate his Terumoh & Maaser Rishon to this particular Kohen or Levy respectively, it is up to an Oni or organizatioon or Yeshiva or hospital to befriend you, if they want you to decide to allocate your Maaser money to them.

But perhaps these items are basically worthless. Does the Mitzvah still apply? Firstly, we should know that the parameters of worthless are: A shaveh Prutah (See Shulchan Aruch 259:2). What is the value of a Prutah? Silver closed last night (May 11th) at a little less than $20 a troy ounce ($19.62 actually, you would divide the price of silver by 1244) so the value of a shaveh prutah by weight would be between a penny and a half and 1.6 cents.

A 1/5th means up to 20% of one’s total income.

Given that a quarter is way more than a “Shoveh Perutoh”, one certainly does not have to any Schnorrer more than a quarter.

One can choose to whom s/he wishes to give his/her nice big donations from his/her Ma’aser money, which may be a Yeshiva one feels connected with, or an organization one feels close to.

If this bothers the schnorrer enough to throw the 1/4 back in your face, that is their Chutzpoh Atzumoh. All the 1/4’s eventually commence to add up.

As for the girl who mentioned, this is how she keeps up with her Israeli cousins, whom she doesn’t see too often, [as I read in the Post], she should absolutely use e-mail to keep up with her Israeli cousins, but even I don’t use facebook, as it is far too public. E-mail works just fine.

A lot of good has come out of computers, such as numerous Shiurim over the computer, as well as several succesful Shiduchim over the internet, so how dare anyone banish internet?
