I shudder to bring to the religious world the following reality, but due to the extremely picky Shidduch market, this unfortunately & tragically has a direct impact on the tragic rate of intermarriage.

Let’s realistically face it:- A young man or woman from not such a religious upbringing comes of age to marry. Many of them will be most compliant to marry a Jew[ess], and indeed will set about see[k]ing a Jew[ess]; Then some young picky girls & boys will begin rejecting this young candidate one after the other, often because of his/her weaker level of religiousness, and even those who have learned but come from poor backgrounds, and eventually the desperation & helplessness enmeshes, and then some fine day the young person meets a Shiktazh/Shegetz who talks nicely & is very prepared to settle, and after such a frustrating dating career, the young person feels that anyways the from community is heartless & uncaring, and s/he has done more than enough Hishtadlus, and now is not guilty for marrying out, and s/he gave it more than a fare try.

& I have seen this time & time again. When is the Frum world going to wake up and educate our youngsters to be realistic & snip down that shopping list considerably?

The laws of dikduk, grammar, and conjugation are almost entirely similar. …….. Absolutely correct head on. To the best of my knowledge, the only 2 verb forms that have changed in Modern Hebrew, are feminine 2nd & 3rd person plural, that have adopted Masculine 2nd & 3rd person instead.

Hebrew Grammar is so much easier & more logical than say Latin or German.

I hope OP is not oblivious to the phenomenon that Artscroll which is anything but Zionist, translates numerous Seforim into English and Ivrit, and few into French, Spanish & Russian, but None into Yiddish.

Artscroll has numerous Choshuv Rabbonim on their committees, and are clearly in tune with the reality, that Yiddish is an obsolete archaic language, whereas Ivrit is a pulsating & alive language, and is the way to disseminate words & knowledge of our Wonderful & Holy Scriptures.

Not everything is to be construed as Mukzto.

I see far too many people say to kids that it is Muktzah to do so & so on Shabbos. Muktzoh & Melocho are not the same, and are certainly not interchangeable words nor terminology.

BTY Mukzto is as most mid’Rabonon, whereas Melocho rises all the way to a violation of the 4th commandment.

    Curiosity

1)Ashkenaz-Sfardi Both Nusach Ashkenaz & Nusach Sephardi are over 1 millennium old, and are most authentic. These are the only 2 authentic Nuscho’os. Period!

But an Asifa on having every Jew converse in Ivrith = Loshon haKodesh would do the Jewish people a tremendous service.

Don’t even waste a second of your precious time on Yiddish.

Either learn Ivrith which is the language in which our Holy Torah as well as Nach are written in, &/or learn Gemorro. Far better use of your good talents.

There are special bags just for the purpose of washing Tzitzis. These bags can be procured at a Judaica store, @ approximately $3 per bag.

I have been utilizing these bags for several years already.

choppy:- Taking a Yid to arkoyos (goyish court) is a massive aveira.

I think that you Choppy are living in a dream world. In the ideal world you would be right, but in today’s contemporary society, Beth Din is not even an option. Lamentably, they are corrupt thru & thru, and time may also be of the essence.

Do you Azolis belong to a Union? If so, your union may have a lawyer at a very reduced rate.

You may also wish to study the very 1st Mishna & accompanying Talmud in Bobo Basra, which discusses this very topic & issue.

With Parshas Ki Sovo literally around the corner, there is only 1 massive Aveiro that I can think of, and it is certainly not going to Arko’us, but simply being “Masig Gevul Re’Eihu” which is 1 of the 11 or 12 curses in Ki Sovo, depending on how these 11/12 curses are counted.

Failing that, you may wish to consult a professional mediator or binding arbitration.

To me, the biggest Treif of this year’s Olympics, is:-

    1) Having the opening ceremony on a Friday nite, especially with Israeli athletes participating in this ceremony being Mechalel Shabbos b’Farhesya.

    2) Having the opening ceremony on Tisha b’Ov nite, a nite which has and still does portend disaster & sadness.

    3) Albeit I’m not a Muslim, but having the Olympics during the month of Ramadan, and religious Muslims fast, shows total lack of any respect and tact for any religion or religious values.

As for all the other issues, that is the IOC’s problems, and the absolute least of my concerns.

Could someone explain me, where to sit the father & grandfather & mother & grandmother & rabbi on this round table, so that no-one’s place on the hierarchy is in anyway diminished whatsoever from the Kovod due to him/her?

BTW this table is non returnable, so please don’t answer me to return the roundtable and go & procure a rectangular table.

You can save money by going onto Frumster &/or Orthodate, where other than $18/month membership, there is No Shadchonus fee to pay, upon “Success:- Mission Accomplished”.

Even on Frumster &/or Orthodate, it is very simple for a man to pick a woman older than himself, or for a woman to pick a man younger than herself, thus fulfilling the lofty & smart ideals of Nasi, but without incurring the fees of Nasi.

As for the alive, their biographies, are already all ready to go & print, just having to fill in 2 slots:-: 1) Date of death, and 2) age at time of Petiroh.

Some people didn’t go, because they are still allergic to English & addicted to Yiddish.

Then some people didn’t go, because they are Availim or had Yohrzeit that day or/& evening, and knew they would not get the Omud for Mincha nor Ma’ariv.

Then some people have young children, and a babysitter until so late into the nite is very expensive, and hard to find.

I wish they would have sung the haTikvah at the Siyum haShas.

There also should have been an Israeli & American flag; There also would have been nothing wrong with having a flag or coat of Arms of Lublin, since Daf Yomi originated there; Just as there are still Greek rituals at the Olympics, which originated in Greece in 1896.

The worst “invite” is “oh, you’re always invited, call anytime”, b/c that is an empty invitation!

This assertion couldn’t be more inaccurate. …. In the days I was single, I had such people, and I would call them say on a Wednesday, asking “How are you doing”, and almost invariably they would ask, “What are you doing this Shabbos? Could we have you this Shabbos”, and given that a host[ess] can have several or zero guest on any one Shabbos, but the single person can only take up 1 invitation per Shabbos meal, this method is sincere & very productive.

I utilize Daf Yomi as a Chazoro, meaning that about a year before a certain Mesechto is coming up, I go thru it at a slow pace, but timing it to be ready on time for when Daf Yomi reaches it.

The Minus is that I end up doing approx. every 4th or 5th Messechto, but the Plus is, that I reasonably well know what is transpiring, and upon Chazoro etc. remember it from the last time.

I was well cognizant that it was not all.

But this was a super massive improvement over the Asifah.

Then again on this T’u b’Ov, as we approach the RH YK season, the most important Halocho in appointing a Chazzan on RH & YK, is being “Merutzo lKohol” and in the case of this Daf Yomi Siyum, “Merutzo lKohol” effectively implies, speak English, & the Siyum haShas organizers scored well on this front, whereas the Asifah organizers very seriously miscalculated.

Sheqalim which technically is Yerushlami & not Bavli, did not use to be on Bavli Daf Yomi calendar. I believe by 3rd or 4th cycle it was added, for sake of completing Moed, like Mishnayos Middos & Kinnim were added for sake of completing Kodoshim.

Depending on whether one lays Tefillin on Chol haMoed or not, this shall give 3 or 5 extra opportunities each year, to fulfill the huge Mitzwo of laying Tefillin. …….. Then again, Eliyohu haNovi may clear up this issue once & for all, as to whether Tefillin should be worn on Chol haMoed, or not.

Then according to your line of thinking, don’t open your water faucet, because you are bringing in water from a Reshus hoRabim to a Reshus haYochid, and when water & crumbs goes down your sink drain, it will go back to a Reshus hoRabim.

Fortunately, I have learned tractate Shabbos, and IY’H look forward to recommencing tractate Shabbos on Chamishi shel Sukkos courtesy of Ushpizin Moshe when 13th cycle commences tractate Shabbos, and when you shall be learning tractate Shabbos on the 13th cycle, you shall soon become acquainted with the fact, that below a certain level under the ground, where your water pipes run, there is no such thing as a Reshus hoRabbim.

    The 2 biggest mistakes the Siyum organizers could commit now, is:- 1) un-inviting HoRav Lau shlita 2) Having speeches in Yiddish;

Whilst none of us are big enough to judge which of these 2 actions would be worse, we are all big enough to say in no uncertain terms, that either of both of these actions will cause unforetold damage to the upcoming Siyum, & I hope & trust that the organizers will know better.
