July 4, 2013 7:02 pm at 7:02 pm in reply to: Do the Egyptians know what they want this time? #970896147Participant
Considering that this is unfolding during the 3 weeks as we are on the final approach to the 9 days, this doesn’t portend good for we Jewish people Chas veChollilo.
147ParticipantIt’s a day of Teshuva. This occured right after the first Churban, a Tzadik was killed, and right after Rosh Hashana,
If you were told that you are absolutely free & welcome to attend this game, just that you have to stay perched on a tight rope with a noose around your neck for the entire duration of the game:- How would you feel about having a place {even though with such an excellent view} on the tight rope right above the playing field?
This is not even an issue of dehydration, because after Tzom Gedaliah you can eat & drink all you wish for [other than Pas Akkum & Cholov Stam] but you will have to remain perched on this tight rope with the noose around your neck, until the conclusion of Ne’iloh.
147ParticipantIn August & September, watching the days getting shorter, and Motzei Shabbos getting earlier, and then finally cooler weather taking over.
147Participantivrit is the language developed for kofrim
Only problem with this assertion is that it is the same language in which haShem’s Blue Print A.K.A. Toroh is written in, so Chas veSholom to even entertain the notion let alone to have put it in writing, that the language of haShem’s Toroh is for Kofrim. Impossible!!!
147ParticipantA far cry from the intolerance spouted by some of the Chareidi politicians in EY.
Especially anyone who denigrates Frum Jews who observe Yom ha’Atzmaut & Yom Yeusholayim.
147ParticipantThere is only 1 Jewish Language, Ivrit, HaShem’s chosen language for the Toroh, & Tanach; This language is so full of Kedusho & so Divine, as is clear being so full of amazing Gematriyos & codes.
It is the universal language of all Jewish people, including both Sephardim & Ashkenazim.
147ParticipantTouch base with the Sochnut
147ParticipantSo trash all your clutter down the chute.
If this doesn’t work, trash out all your clutter at Tashlich in another 67 days time.
147ParticipantPerhaps these Jews were already burned once or twice by people whom they trust and who likewise violated that trust.
I have gotten burned lending my cell phone, for someone who just had to make this urgent call of a few seconds to let someone know where they are. So I’ll give you 2 examples, so you comprehend why I shall never lend my cell phone to anyone ever.
1) I was walking thru Har Menuchos this past Adar, and someone just had to call up to let someone know where he was in Har Menuchos; Thereafter I was getting so many calls demanding to speak to this person, for many hours thereafter. When I said I am not this person, they were becoming very aggressive & angry & insisting that I must know this person & find him, because he did call from my #.
2) After a wedding in Monsey this past Nisson, someone had to borrow my cell phone to call up a car service, as he had no way of getting home. He had to call several car services, and even then never got a car service. Thereafter, somewhere around 2.30AM this car service calls my cell phone saying that they see we called up, and would we like car service? Needless to say, we were woken up and it took us a long time to fall asleep again.
Needless to say, we are not lending our cell phone to any stranger at any time.
147ParticipantI will be forever indebted!
PashuteYeedle:- Why would you wish to spend and waste the rest of your life forever being indebted to a dead language?
147ParticipantThank you Torah613Torah.
147Participantbut this one starts so early (4:13 AM this year)
FYI the Tzom this commenced at 3.35AM.
Furthermore, the attitude taken to getting out of these fasts are being used far too prevalently and these Ta’aniyos are not being taken anywhere near seriously enough.
147ParticipantSlichosGenendel:- I think that you should be grateful for even being allowed to be accommodated in their guestroom, all the more so, if your stay was gratis.
Most people I know don’t let their guest into their residence unless they are also there, so if anything:- you SlichosGenendel should be sending a very nice thank you note to your host.
147ParticipantThere was Achdus on Yom Yerusholaim 1967 as the incredible announcement “Har haBayis b’Yodeinu” was flashed & broadcast across the world.
The day of the Entebbe Raid.
Then on 9/11.
Then in the aftermath of Sandy.
147ParticipantLeave Mr. Snowden alone. I hope he alludes the American Government for ever.
Even if the US Government were so evil as to offer Mr. Snowden a plea deal, it wouldn’t even be worth the paper is is written on nor the computer memory where the e-mail would be stored on, in light of Jonathan Pollard’s saga, where we already know that the American Government will break any & all plea deals.
147ParticipantThis is a private matter concerning 1 building in Manhattan, which has Tens of Thousands of buildings.
This matter should remain private for the residents of this building, and possibly its attorney, and does not belong on a forum of worldwide news.
147ParticipantThis is the response which I sent to an e-mail I received from a politician in Albany, lauding this court decision:-
G-D declared that marriage can only be between a man & a woman, so anyone who conducts themselves otherwise, or abets someone to conduct themselves otherwise, is a Filthy Abomination to the Almighty, who created Man & Woman and knows & understands what is best for Man & Woman.
147ParticipantGiven that we so often pray with less than adequate Kavono, this hence makes it less excusable not to stay up Shovu’os nite and pray at daybreak on the 1st day of Shovu’os.
If we so often pray haphazardly anyways, so what excuse is there left to sleep Shovu’os nite to pray so intensely on the 1st morning of Shovu’os?
147Participanttruthsharer: And they did it in secular court! Should we all go and do to them what they did to Weberman for going to secular court?
I am so sorry that my tax money shall have to be wasted to sustain Weberman in prison for 103 years. This adds up to a lot of money. I guess this includes tax money to pay for his air-conditioning so that he could fast yesterday on Shiva Ossor b’Tamuz, whilst many Aniyim won’t have what to eat this coming Shabbos which would be a much more productive use of my hard earned money.
147ParticipantI do know one thing: Hashem does nit like it when brothers fight in the streets outside the cemetery on the yartzeit of their father.
& I also do know one thing: HaShem does not like it when one causes the religious & Chareidi parties to loose potential seats in the Kenesset, simply because of boycotting the elections.
147ParticipantOn Rosh haShono, despite being judged between life & death, we eat festive meals.
From 1 aspect, this makes it very hard to get into the right frame of mind and really be in trepidation of Yom haDin as we have such festive family meals.
Yet this enables people with weak disposition to easily get to Shul unlike Yom Kippur when many people become bedridden to be able to complete the Tzom. But from the other perspective, it is much easier to get into a serious frame of mind on Yom Kippur than on Rosh haShono, when we are feasting.
147Participantmoeisrael:- Here is another question for you to contend with, whilst you are at it:-
Who’s better? Korach & Yair Lapid who’s better? considering that both of them are Jewish.
147ParticipantI was taught that each brother was born with a twin sister
Correct Oomis except for Binyomin who was born with 2 triplet sisters.
147ParticipantI hope & trust that my white straw hat is Tzonua?
147ParticipantEvery Jewish women is about to be wearing a white skirt & white blouse, 4 times in the next 3 months:-
1) Chamisho Ossor b’Ov
2) 1st day R’H
3) 2nd day R’H
4) Yom haKippurim
BTW I am referring to the last Mishno in Taanis {1&4} so it is absurd to refer to white clothing as ostentatious.
147ParticipantThe school has no place in Monsey, and should be moved right back to Washington Heights.
The Gateshead Rov, Rav Shraga Feivel Zimmerman shlita was not allowed to open the high school in Monsey, so something is very amiss for the high school to now be in Monsey.
June 20, 2013 3:36 am at 3:36 am in reply to: Lo Yilbash (YWN Article about R' Chaim Kavievsky Shlit"a and wristwatches) #968702147ParticipantTechnically, a woman’s pair of pants is a Begged Isho & not a Begged Gever, and by Toroh law could be worn by a Halachic compliant woman albeit socially she will get herself into social trouble.
Meanwhile I wear a watch 6 days a week and when spending Shabbos where there is an Eruv, I wear a watch 7 days a week.
By my standards, already abstaining from a watch on the street 1 day a week, is quite a high Madreigo, without abstaining all 7 days a week.
147ParticipantI give just about all my Tzedoko money to 3 or 4 organizations I am closely connected with or/& owe Hakoras haTov, and everyone else will just have to make do with a Shoveh Peruto from me.
147Participantzahavasdad:- Notwithstanding your remarks, the chief Rabbi sets the religious tone for the country at large, which does have ripple effects on even isolationists, so who ends up being the 2 Chief Rabbis is critical to all & everyone.
It will be affecting Shemitta policy in just 16 months from now, as well as marriage/Geirus issues for a long time to come.
147ParticipantUnless you live in Alaska
If you live in Alaska, the most pressing issue you would have to deal with, is whether to take a day off from laying Tefillin on Friday? or on Saturday?
As for the other 5 days of the week, clearly just lay Ashkenaz Tefillin:- So much easier to wrap your Tefillin inwards towards yourself.
147ParticipantWhat do Rav Kaniewski shlita & Rav Shteinman shlita hold about Rav Stav shlita? Considering that Rav Stave shlita would be the Ashkenazic Chief Rabbi, what do these 2 Ashkenazic Gedolim recommend?
147Participantappears to be referring to both the dude at the wedding
popa_bar_abba:- Referring to a Rov as a Dude, is reprehensible on your part, and I am not clear how YWN would even have let your terminology get thru to the coffee room.
But practically speaking, Rav Ovadiah Yosef’s flaming remarks shall probably boomerang big way, and give many additional votes to Rav Dovid Stav shlita, irrespective whether he belongs in the job or not, but will probably have landed him this job.
147ParticipantThis week marks the 72nd Johrzeit of Horav Elchonon Wasserman ZT’L as well as the 2nd Johrzeit of Leiby Kletzky HY’D.
June 18, 2013 3:48 am at 3:48 am in reply to: Endorsing Political Candidates and Anti-Torah Values #959682147ParticipantIndeed Yichusdik, the comments made by Rav Oviadiah Yosef on Motzei Shabbos, shall most likely seriously boomerang, and translate into a lot of extra votes for Rav Dovid Stav, especially amongst undecided voters.
June 18, 2013 2:00 am at 2:00 am in reply to: How do those wearing Yerushalmi kippot put on tefillin? #959573147ParticipantWhilst you Hrolfr are at it:- How does a lifelong Nozir with such long hair, wear Tefillin?
147ParticipantI had a clear Pesak, that even Kedusha I say Nusach Ashkenaz with the exception of the 1st line of “Kesser Yitenu” which I say Sefard but even then after Kodosh Kodsoh Kodsoh I revert to Ashkenaz.
Pesukei dZimro is surely yur own Nusach of Ashkenaz and not the Shul’s Nusach of Sefard.
Long Tachnun, one can elect to retain Ashkenaz and say the 7 paragraphs before vaYomer Dovid as per Ashkenaz, or say vaYomer Dovid before the 7 paragraphs.
147ParticipantI have had a direct Pesak from Mike Bloomberg, not to have a gun, therefore out of respect for Mike Bloomberg, I do not possess a gun.
June 17, 2013 2:00 am at 2:00 am in reply to: Endorsing Political Candidates and Anti-Torah Values #959678147ParticipantFollowing the remarks of the Godol haDor HoRav Ovadiah Yosef shlita at his Motzei Shabbos Shiur, should we be more scared at the possibility of Rav Dovid Stav shlita being the next Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi? or should we be more scared at the possibility of Ms. Quinn {in a To’eivo lifestyle} being the next mayor of NYC?
147ParticipantNot true about Hebrew and civil dates matching every 19 years.
If you would look on a good calendar, at what time the Molad was 19 years apart, it would be a much closer match.
Despite the timing of the Molad, the actual day of Rosh haShono is frequently pushed off by 1-2 days, to prevent Yom Kippur falling out on a Friday or Sunday, as well as to prevent Hoshana Rabba falling out on a Shabbos, so if we didn’t have these 4 Dechiyos {which Hillel in 4118 was authorized by Toroh law to institute to push off the actual day of Rosh haShono}, then the 19 year cycle would be much closer every 19 years.
147ParticipantI was told to give a leather bound Siddur, but being that our marriage was during the Omer [during the same Hebrew month as both Yom haAtzmaut & Yom Yerusholayim] I transposed this idea to a leather Shovu’os Machzor, intending for gift being conferred at such an important juncture in time to last a lifetime, but realizing that a Siddur being used daily shall suffer the vicissitudes of tear & wear.
147Participantdafyomi2711:- You made an important point too.
Another Halocho about Kaddish which is virtually unknown is the original Takonno, that Kaddish is to only be recited by 1 individual at a time. Having multiple people recite Kaddish at a time is only a concession, and leads to numerous Halachic issues, most significantly that when the reciters don’t remain in unison, it becomes 1 big jumble, and if some of them are not responded to or don’t have 10 people hearing them, are not even Yotze Kaddsih at all.
147ParticipantChaddish Media is in the business of producing such items.
147ParticipantJust as wrong as someone walking in front of someone reciting Kaddish.
Whenever someone is reciting Kaddish, it is an Absolute No No to pass in front of the Kaddish reciter. One should imagine that there is solid glass wall in front of the Kaddish recite, and one simply cannot walk through glass.
I am shocked by how much disregard of this Halocho which I witness.
I am also shocked by people who sit during Kaddish, including even a Kaddish after a standing up prayer, whereby it is even more mandatory to stand up for that Kaddish.
147ParticipantNK of course, barricaded safely away from anyone who might want to give them a piece of their mind.. Why are they allowed to protest?
So that they can garnish any Sechar due to them, in this world, and the be absolutely doomed in the hereafter.
As for the To’eivoh:- Given that they are banished from the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, why can’t they also be banished from Israel Day Parade?
147ParticipantBecause internet is also bad for adult generations, and we we have to abide by the famous adage:- “Preach what you practice”.
147ParticipantSam2: If someone has met with Arafat and his successors, having identified himself with such a Sonei Yisroel, has rendered him a traitor to our beloved Jewish people, and “Yotzo MiKellal Amiseicho”.
147ParticipantOnly in 2013 for most of us, will we be observing all the Chaggim & Taaniyos from Adar thru marCheshvon so early, as they have never come out so early since 1899, and won’t come out so early again until 2089.
I’m pretty sure that it’ll be just as applicable in 2014, 2015… This definitely shall not be applicable neither during 2014 nor 2015, when the calendar shall be much later than this year 2013.
147ParticipantSmart As They Come:- If you are after an amazing Museum, then you are after the “Menachem Begin Museum” very near Sha’ar Zion.
You will gain amazing insight into the nobleness of this most incredible & dignified prime minister that we ever had.
I left this museum so inspired. Something which just about never happens at any other museum.
You can reserve a guided tour in English, up front.
147ParticipantAnyone who counter-demonstrated at the Israel Day Parade, cannot even be counted towards a Minyan even Le’eis Hatzorech.
147ParticipantI am so glad that I attended this awesome parade, and was able to show my solidarity to Medinat Yisrael, a truly wonderful & incredible country.
