I had only 1 reflection of Haazinu weighing on mind:- Today September 7th is the earliest that Haazinu ever did or will occur in our lifetimes. This was also the earliest Shabbos Shuva ever, in our lifetimes.

The latest Haazinu shall be on October 17, 2043; The latest Shabbos Shuva was on October 12, 1929.

Since Tashlich is a Minhag performed on Rosh haShono, how can one be Mechalel Yom Tov [an Issur mi’d’Orraisso] by driving a car, just to fulfill a Minhag of Tashlich?

This coming Shabbos & again on Shabbos in 56 weeks from today, I shall be on a very severe diet.

As for the 54 intervening Shabbosses, I pray at a Hashkomo, whence I am home by 8.30 AM. This being a normal breakfast time, so I make Motzi and eat in moderation as I am not in starvation mode as would be case by noon, when many people are so famished that they go on an eating rampage at a Kiddush.

As for myself, I again eat lightly at lunchtime this being my Seudo Shlishis, and then have an appetite for a Melava Malka.

I thus have cut out total starvation in the mornings, leading to 3 meals [reception followed by Seudo Shenis & Shelishis] in very close vicinity, especially during the winter.

I cannot fathom what is so hard about remembering to make an Eiruv Tavshilin?

Just as I remember to eat my breakfast, or turn on the air conditioning, or to go to Shul or to lite my Chanukiyoh or to count the Omer or go to work, so likewise I take an Eiruv Tavshilin into stride and remember to make Eiruv Tavshilin.

Mazol Tov to any & all Jewish Girls who were born on 9/11, who have just become Bas-Mitzwah this evening.

On a much sadder but very pertinent note, 2 weeks ago, I finally got to visit the “Flight 93 National Memorial.”

It was an extremely emotional & moving experience, and every genuine American & Jew ought to visit this sight. We spent over 2 hours there, and there were a lot of people stopping at the sight, to visit.

Despite all that we thought we already knew, we learned a lot on that visit.

“Ad Bias haGoel” to all the families commemorating the Dozenth Johrzeit, tonite.

We are privileged to be going to Eretz Yisroel for Succos. (if Moshiach does not come before)

If or better still “when” the Moshiach comes before Sukkos, something tells me, “Al Achas Kamo vKamo” that you would be going to Israel for Sukkos.

to Meron and Teveriah I hope “Tzfas” is also on your agenda.

I have also consumed sushi as as the main course, but on 1st nite of Shovu’os; This is the only Yom Tov which cannot commence on a Friday nite, and this topic specifies a Friday nite, hence I did not mention Shovu’os nite in my 1st comment to this topic.

Have consumed this menu numerous times @both Shabbos & Yom Tov seudos.

The Steipler as well as the Chazon Ish also held that 18 applies even nowadays.

So does the Mishno in Pirkei Ovos.

Yet when it comes to teaching Chumosh, Mishno & Talmud, many people are commencing at ages younger than delineated in this Mishno:- Hence why aren’t they doing likewise when it comes to Chuppo age mentioned in this very same Mishno?

Following this bus incident, and in honor of this 34th Johrzeit on Friday Ov 26th as reported on YWN, I made a special point this Shabbos of singing Shir haMa’alos to the wonderful tune of haTikva. The words of Psalm 126, fit so beautifully to the tune of haTikva.

Madoff received 150 years. This Clevlander received 1000 years.

    1000/150=6.66667

Hence the Judge seems to have Ruach haKodesh, that this Clevelander’s Gehinom shall be exactly 6.66667 as intense & terrifying as Madoff’s Gehinom shall be.

Apart from the Judges’ Ruach haKodesh, what is Nigzar in Olom haZeh, haShem attempts to be Mekayem in Olom haBo.

Actually, until now I’d never made the connection between Elul and Lent. So you’re trying to do the equivalent of Mardi Gras?

Chas veSholom! Nothing could be further removed from the truth.

Ellul:- Serious-Absolutely! Sad-Absolutely not! We are reading the very last Parshiyos of the Toroh:- Sefer Devorim eagerly heading me’Eivel leSimcho from Devorim on Chazzon to veZos haberocho on Simchas Toroh.

It is so wonderful anticipating a month long of Chaggim & intense closeness to haShem. As children the excitement of the approaching Chaggim was incredible; All this with no worries about cleaning out Chometz. & the days are getting shorter, so Motzei Shabbos will once again be at decent hours.

When my kids were very little I made a special point of bringing them to Shul in Ellul to hear Tekias Shofor daily. Needless to say, I blow Tekias Shofor for my wife everyday before I head out to work.

Seeing a bachelor in their 60’s & 70’s still not wearing a Tallis is so sad, not to mention how humiliating it must be for them to parade their celibacy.

If you’re allowed to add a name to a choleh then presumably the number of names you have isn’t a big issue

Please note that this procedure is known as “Shinui Shem” and not “Hosafat Shem”

This means changing a name, because in olden days, they simply changed the old single name to a new single name, when double names was not an option.

Nowadays when we anyways are utilizing double names, and are not on level to obliterate an already existing name, we simply add a name, albeit we still describe the procedure as changing the name.

The Halocho clearly states that someone who medically requires to consume chicken, at any rate if feasible, should endeavor to be Machmir & abstain from Ov 7th onwards, that being the day that they entered & pilfered the Beis haMikdosh; i.e. Until Ov 6th there are more grounds for leniency in case of necessity & medical issues etc.

BTW it is more important to fast on Tisha b’Ov and if this person who is allergic to Dairy & Pasta will be so weakened by skimp eating for 8 days prior, it is more important to eat enough to ensure his/her ability to have strength to fast on Tisha b’Ov.

Why don’t the Rabbonim enforce Tznius?

The 1st thing they require to do to fix Tzeni’us is to do what the Rabbonim in Yerusholayim 300 years ago were doing:- Anyone who reached 20 years old and wasn’t married, was ordered to get married failing which they were expelled from Yerusholayim.

If the Rabbonim don’t feel up to this task, how are they going to ever enforce any other item of Tzeni’us?

The world is still and always being run buy a loving Hashem. Especially in light of the fact that the name of the month is “Ov” which means “Father”, and in fact is the only month of the entire year whose name has a specific meaning. Clearly a “Father” is not going to reject us, but may wish/need to fix wrong things.

As far a “Me’atim bSimcho” clearly not consuming is going to lead to a massive reduction in Simcha, as my stomach is not adept to vegetarian dishes etc.
