The best & only protest is facilitating & making more Shiduchim between men & women.

Apart from thereby reducing the % of same gender marriages, each wedding shows 1 more objection to same gender marriage.

What Hebrew calendar date is the Johrzeit of Avrohom Ovinu?

What Hebrew calendar date is the Johrzeit of Yaakov Ovinu?

What Hebrew calendar date is the Johrzeit of Rivko Ieminu?

What Hebrew calendar date is the Johrzeit of Leoh Imeinu?

Note I haven’t posed the question vis a vis Rochel Imeinu, because even I know that her Johrzeit is marCheshvon 11th.

Note I haven’t posed the question vis a vis Yitchok Ovinu, because even I know that his Johrzeit is Nisson 15th 2228, exactly 400-180 years prior to Yetzias Mitzraim.

As for Soro Imeinu, I assume her Johrzeit is either Rosh haShono? or Yom Kippur? Depending on which of these 2 opinions is the date that the Akeido took place on.

popa_bar_abba: Are you popa_bar_abba saying that even on Rosh haShono & Yom Kippur when men wear a Kittle with a White Kippa in Shul, that your wife will still not let you attend Shul without a black hat?

& How about if you are coming home from work without a hat passing Shul which is just comencing Mincho or Maariv:- Are you popa_bar_abba saying that your wife won’t let you go to Shul and want you to miss that Mincho or Maariv simply because you are missing a hat?

Please note, that although this last week in marCheshvon [as well as every date since this past Adar] is the 1st time this early since 1899, yet by the time we hit Kisslev next week, it shall only be the 1st time that this early since 1994.

However, when it comes to a gift for the yichud room, that’s something that she’s going to remember the rest of her life.

In my day & age they used to recommend giving a leather bound Siddur.

But in light of the fact that a marriage is supposed to last for decades and one wishes this Yichud room gift to last along this lifetime, & being that I got married during the Omer, I modified this notion to a Shvu’os leather bound Machzor; Being only utilized 2 days a year, IY’H this gift shall last for life.

Based on what was posted on YWN this past week, it seems all cemeteries in Yerusholayim are sold out of plots.

The closer the garment to your body, the stronger is the Chiyuv of Keri’ah. i.e. The shirt is much stronger obligated in Keri’ah than is a jacket. This absolutely is also Halocho for Ashkenazim. Lamentably, I have seen many Availim with torn jacket but intact shirt, but it is not my job at a Shiva to grieve an Oveil, so I refrain from saying anything and hope their local Rov will correct them.

What type of shul is it? Hassidic, misnaged, modern orthodox? It is a Yekkish Shul.

CDG-Etoile is right by the Arc de Triomphe, so sounds like a very expensive area. I was there recently. The 1 Metro Train and RER A Train go to that stop.

But now I am back home in the Orient, almost on the other side of the world from both the Arc de Triomphe and from Goldres Green.

@Tahini: I am looking for an ashkenazic shul.

You Eliahou1590 will probably wish to end up at the “Golders Green Beth Hamedrash” Shul, more popularly referred to, as “Munk’s Shul”, @9 The Riding.

This will probably be very much the style you Eliahou1590 are seeking. By the way:- Which Shul in Paris do you currently attend? Where in Paris do you live? In which Arrondisement? or/& near which Metro Station?

Based on your remarks Eliyahou15902, your English seems to be perfect anyways.

I don’t like adding names; It makes it more cumbersome both for the recipient and his children to have more names, when being called up to the Toroh.

More significantly, I know many people who did not add names but made remarkable recoveries, and unfortunately some with added names, who did not; Needless to say, I wish the Godol haDor, Rav Ovadiah Yosef shlita, a speedy & expedient recovery, which he so duly deserves.

And the year following this year, we should live and be well, is a 5S7 model, also with RH on Thurssay, Pesach on Shabbat.

The last time we had Rosh haShono 4 out of 5 years on Thursday & Friday, was 98 years ago, but next time shall be in 24 years followed by 27 years after that.

From 2070 to 2079 it shall not happen for 10 years straight. That shall be 1st time in 521 years, skipping 10 years straight.

But please bear in mind:- For working purposes:- It is much harder when all the Chaggim come out on a Tuesday & Wednesday, than having them come out on a Thursday 7 Friday.

veHaKohanim veHo’om Hoyu Omdim bo’Azoro, so we do know what the people were doing:- They were standing in the Temple Courtyard.

They also felicitated the Kohen Godol when he emerged from the Avodo, unscathed.

Despite their fasting & the Bais haMikdosh not being air-conditioned, but the marble floors probably kept they Bais haMiokdosh fairly cool, indeed as the Mishno in Yumo alludes to with the Kohen Godol being fatigued & cold at nite, when young Kohanim flicked their fingers and read from book of Doniel etc.

However Sefard is so recent & has so many different variants, that it is wishy washy and unstable, and should be absolutely avoided.

But for your information harri & torahlishma613, you would be in even better company Davening Nusach Ashkenaz, especially that you grew up with Nusach Ashkenaz, so don’t even contemplate changing Nusach, let alone for actually changing Nussach.

I should also bring to your attention torahlishma613, that just about all the special prayers recited on Rosh haShono are identical in both Nusach Ashkenaz and Sefard, & just about all the differences are within the prayers also recited throughout the year.

So harri:- Retain your loyalty to Nussach Ashkenaz. You will be better off for it.

Withe massive improvement in technology, this is a thing of the past, and color shirt don’t run when being laundered, not even red & black shirts which used to be the 2 most notorious colors. so they remain honorable looking and don’t ruin white shirts being laundered with them.

yungermans:- You somehow seem to have left out another 9/11 from exactly 3/4 century ago; The European 9/11 is November 9th which was Crystal Nacht.

As for 9/11 being Tisha b’Ov we are on the final leg into a very critical Tisho b’Ov, with the forthcoming Tisho b’Ov marking exactly 1 century since the commencement of World War 1.

Just 4 weeks ago I was at the Flight 93 Memorial. As much as I thought I knew beforehand, I learned an incredible lot which I hadn’t known before going to the Flight 93 Memorial. We spent 2 whole hours at the Flight 93 Memorial, and every loyal American & decent Jew owes it to himself/herself to go & visit the Flight 93 Memorial. Despite being in a remote place, it was constantly busy, with lots of people coming to visit.

I saw the 2nd plane hit the South Tower with my very own 2 eyes, and vow that I shall never forget that horrific sight. I knew about 9/11 before even President Bush knew about it, his being occupied reading books to kids at a school in Florida.

9/11 shall always be observed, Dorei Doros, just as November 22nd [Kisslev 5th] coming up to be exactly 1/2 century, shall always be observed and remembered. Lo Tishkoch!! Period!!
