January 18, 2023 2:24 pm at 2:24 pm in reply to: Shidduchim Between Litvish Girls and Chasidish Boys #2157540147Participant
For most regular Misnagdos girls, it shall be ffar too serious of a cultural shock not to be able to properly observe Yom ha’Atzmaut & Yom Yerusholayim, or how have a husband not observing Tefillin for a n entire week of Pessach & Sukkos
November 4, 2021 4:01 pm at 4:01 pm in reply to: Day of Prayer Today Erev Rosh Chodash Kislev, Thursday #2024998147ParticipantToday I am working all day, then going to my Shiurim, then making Shabbos
147ParticipantPresident Donald Trump did exactly what he was supposed to do last nite, and was brilliant.
The other 2 creatures were despicable.
President Donald Trump said what was so necessary, since the liberal media miserably fails to so.
Biden lied through his teeth last nite, especially about hi son & Ukraine, amongst other numerous lies, and liars are not fit to be in the Oval Office:- Period!!147ParticipantPresident Donald Trump was Brilliant on the Debate last nite, and definitely won the debate.
The other 2 creatures on the debate were totally despicable.
Biden lied badly concerning his son & Ukraine, as well as numerous other lies, and no liar can be put into the Oval Office:- Period!!September 6, 2020 1:24 am at 1:24 am in reply to: Bringing a Shofar into the U.S. – allowed? #1898739147ParticipantIt is 1st time in 11 years that you didn’t even need שופר as no תורה based obligation to hear sound of שופר shall be occurring this year.
147ParticipantHaimy:- Somehow you managed to forgot to mention Soncino which has been around for Gemoro since 1938, and is very good for Daf-Yomi, because:- 1) Despite whatever issues about authenticity of Soncino notes on Nach, yet by Gemoroh, Soncino notes are authentic; 2) With lightning speed that Daf-Yomi moves along, Artscroll notes are too cumbersome whereas Soncino notes, and Steinsaltz notes for that matter, are of durable length.
147ParticipantChildren who are in regular & good contact with both parents shall do fine. On the other hand, if they are estranged from either parent, they shall end up being estranged from finding a marriage partner. These 2 facts [really 1 fact from both ends of the spectrum] is just the way it is.
147ParticipantB’H I have never forgotten to make an Eiruv-Tavshillin, hence don’t need reminders
147ParticipantThe response to you rational is, that on legal holidays there is a plethora of Shiurim & Torah learning, and hence thanks to these legal holidays, there is an upsurge in amount of Torah study transpiring on these days, hence:- so apropos for יום-המיוחס; Same apply to Britons this year, albeit Canadians had to work on יום-המיוחס.
147Participantיום המיוחס also came out on Memorial Day in 2006, 2009, as does so this year.
It is also 2nd time within 1 year, having ראש-חודש on Sunday, and next Monday, a legal Holiday, as this past Labor Day came out the day after Sunday ראש-חודש אלול.147ParticipantB’H we reopened at crack of dawn yesterday Thursday, and were emailed instructions from our Shul literally moments after NYS Governor’s announcement on Wednesday.
To just be clear:- Nothing could be more important this שבועות than having Shuls up & running again. This alone is even more important, than cheese cake, flowers overnite learning, haircut from a shuttered barber, all combined, still less significant, than B’H having Shuls back up & running this שבועות.147ParticipantIn simple terms, they have no money to pay refunds, even if logically the are not providing the services parents have paid for. Does the previously paid money at that point in time, change from being “Tuition” to being “Charity” & then become eligible for being part of מעשר? and for being tax-deductible?
147ParticipantBernie Sanders is going to secure the Democrat Nomination [Please bear in mind, that the rage against the Democrats for having stolen the nomination from Bernie to Hillary 4 years ago, is so palpable, is a huge factor in Bernie’s leading the pack], and it shall be laughing stock watching Bernie & President Donald Trump thrice at the debates, but thereafter, President Donald Trump is going to win handsomely.
Please mark my word on these 2 fronts!!147ParticipantThis year so easy to fulfill:- By listening to the State of the Union address by President Donald Trump, on the very 1st evening of Adar hoRischon, by the best president we have ever had.
December 28, 2018 12:19 am at 12:19 am in reply to: The world is in a state of Geula- and don’t misunderstand us! #1653403147ParticipantThe Bright Blue sky tonite was quite literally ראשית צמיחת גאולתינו which was already piercing thru & emanating from the sky tonite.
147ParticipantIs tonite the 17th Johrzeit? Azkara? Nachla? of the World Trade Center A’H?
147ParticipantI hereby would like to extend sincere condolences to the World Trade Center A’H, upon your 17th Johrzeit tonite. I shall NEVER forget you, Dear World Trade Center. I witnessed the 2nd aeroplane crashing in, and this has etched an indelible unforgettable permanent dent in my memory.
147ParticipantBased on the Nevu’oh of the Emeritus British Chief Rabbi, as reported on YWN earlier today, it seems that Corbyn is going to be the next evil Amolek to seize this infamous designation. Of-course tonite exactly 17 years ago, Bin Laden Yemach Shemo vZichrono seized this horrendous distinction @World Trade Center A’H.
September 3, 2018 12:04 am at 12:04 am in reply to: Shmiras einayim sunglasses and covered bus windows #1584693147ParticipantMy sunglasses are all ready for the total eclipse of the sun on Erev Rosh Chodesh Nisson 2024.
147ParticipantGo To Rav Miller’s “Talmid Muvhak”, who deals extensively with marital issues, and has a lot of Hatzlocho. I am in frequent contact with this Talmud Muvhak, but assume that may not publish his name in this coffee room.
May 28, 2018 11:20 am at 11:20 am in reply to: Enforcement of gittin in civil court custody cases in New York #1526949147Participantrequiring an unwilling party to give a religious document, such as a Get, that they don’t want to give Does this include someone being beaten up to dispense a “Get” until he just says “Dispense the Get” to get these attackers off him, but really does not wish to dispense a “Get”.
April 8, 2018 9:01 pm at 9:01 pm in reply to: Is it reasonable to tell a 21 yr old boy to date a 24 yr old girl !!!!!! #1503746147ParticipantIs it reasonable to tell a 21 yr old boy to date a 24 yr old girl !!!!!! My question is:- Is it even reasonable to be questioning this? Answer:- Resounding NO!! Sir 21:- Go out with Madame 24, and don’t even spend 1 iota of your energy worrying about Madame 24’s age.
April 2, 2018 11:27 pm at 11:27 pm in reply to: Pictures of women in frum magazines and advertisements #1502403147ParticipantIf we would have undergone the tragedy of Hillary winning the election, this would have put the newspapers that don’t print pictures of females in a complex tight spot.
147ParticipantB’H I don’t have to worry about qualifications for “Chover”, because B’H I merited to earn myself a Semicho, so someone with Semicha, this surpasses title of Chover which becomes a moot point to my situation.
147ParticipantBecome Israeli and observe 1 day Yom Tov, so instead of Shabbos being Shemini Shel Pesach, it is Shabbos Shemini, and have a Heathen friend give you Chometz on Shabbos.
As far as naming, since he was born on very 1st day of Pesach, either name him “Gamliel” who is so famous for the 3 items that must be mentioned on Seder nite, or “Eliyohu” after the other star guest whose Kos Eliyohu awaits him.
147ParticipantTalking about milking Matzo coffee, i.e. pouring boiling coffee onto Matzo with sugar added, please bear in mind on 1st day Pessach this year, also being the Holy Shabbos this year, that if pouring boiling coffee onto the Matzo, or adding Matzo to the soup, that this must be into a Keli Shelishi, to avoid potential “Bishul Acharei Affiyo” issues which could constitute a violation of the 4th of the 10 commandments.
147ParticipantSunday is already 1st day of Chol haMoed, so this Siyum on “Avodah Zoro” is actually 1st day of Chol haMoed=1st daytime of Omer. I look forward to meriting to bring Korban ho’Omer this Sunday morning, and utilizing new crops to bake fresh Matzo in honor of the Siyum.
147ParticipantEvery morning I arise & chant praises to the Almighty who in His Infinite Kindness & Wisdom, spared us from the calamity of having this heinous Hillary in the Oval Office. I continue to Admire President Trump, and shall once again vote for him both at the Primaries & election 2020, as I am so glad I did during 2016.
In the same light, I strongly believe that the Israeli police should back off, and leave PM Netanyohu alone, so he can continue his wonderful work as Prime Minister.
147ParticipantDo what your father did. Please bear in mind, that some of we 1st generation post Holocaust survivors, have fathers who weren’t even Bar-Mitzwah when their own Fathers perished, so in many cases our Fathers aren’t entirely sure what the true family Mesorah is.
147ParticipantRav Hamburg from Moreshes Ashkenaz holds that even in Israel one should continue his Minhog to lay Tefillin on Chol haMoed. In practice, some of the Moreshes Ashkenaz Minjnim in Israel do lay Tefillin, whereas others don’t, because on different Pesakim they have received.
Even Rav Scheinberg held, that someone who used to lay Tefillin, should still lay them in Israel, albeit @home in private.
December 21, 2017 6:54 am at 6:54 am in reply to: President Donald Trump, Oheiv Yisroel Par Excellence #1431137147ParticipantI am so ecstatic that I was endowed & blessed with the foresight & wisdom to vote for President Donald Trump both by the primary, and again by the election. Every tear that was shed by Clinton supporters on election nite, was a source of immense rejoicing to me.
147ParticipantIn the USA, the Gadol haDor is a 5 way consortium, shared by the Noveminske Rebbe [Rav Yaakov Perlow] shlita, Rav Dovid Feisntein shlita, Rav Shmuel Kamanetsky shlita, Rav Aharon Feldman shlita [Ner Israel], & the Bobov Rebbe [Rav Ben-Tzion Halberstam] shlita. May we continue to benefit from these 5 American Gedolei haDor for many years to come.
147ParticipantThe only “prevention” on my mind currently is preventing the next terrorist attack on the subway, and the next system wide delay on mass transit.
December 13, 2017 12:03 am at 12:03 am in reply to: Is it acceptable to go for a walk on the 1st date? #1426281147ParticipantIf the weather is good, it absolutely is acceptable to take a walk; Even in inclement weather, take a walk in the mall.
147ParticipantNow that tragically Rav Steinman Z TKLLH’H & Rav Avigdor Miller ZTKLLH’H and Rav Ovadyah Yosef ZTKLLH’H, and more tragically @the very young age of 70:- Rav Shmuel Yaakov Borenstein ZTKLLH’H are no longer amongst the living, hence Rav Chaim Kanievky shlita is the absolute undisputed Godol haDor, and as he is about to turn 90, we wish him Arichas Yomim and excellent health for many years to come.
August 14, 2017 1:21 pm at 1:21 pm in reply to: Two days in Eretz Yisrael up north. Tell me one thing I should not miss? #1338358147ParticipantClearly you don’t have time to go everywhere, so just focus on Tzefas:- Artist colony & the famous cemetery adjacent to the Artist colony.
August 7, 2017 12:37 am at 12:37 am in reply to: Kensington, Brooklyn, NYC versus Kensington, London #1333340147ParticipantDifference is Orange V Navy/Green/Yellow. i.e. F Line V Piccadilly & District & Circle lines.
May 1, 2017 11:05 pm at 11:05 pm in reply to: What are the Proper Kinot to be said tommorrow 😭📕 #1267524147ParticipantIt’s pushed off to prevent chillul Shabbos. because the Rabbanut haRashi are Tzadikim Gemurim who safeguard Shabbos, unlike some people in Meron who still insist on having celebrations on Motzei Shabbos which invariably leads to desecration of Shabbos R’L, instead of pushing off by 1 day, to prevent Chilul Shabbos.
147ParticipantJoseph:- Are you R’L donning sackcloth biZemano on Monday Iyyor 5th, or in deference to Pesak of Rabbanut haRashi, donning sackcloth Nidche on Tuesday Iyyor 6th?
147ParticipantI learned Hilchos Yom ha’Atzma’ut, as well as learning the times of Yom ha’Atzma’ut services.
Am looking forward to commencing Hilchos Yom Yerusholayim this coming Schabbos.147ParticipantWell Shakespeare is the Tzadik, as he died on his 52nd birthday, being born April 23, 1564, and being Niftar on April 23, 1616
147ParticipantThis year, Shelosho Yemei Hagbolo are a Sunday, Monday, Tuesday:- Many barbers are closed on Sunday, and on Monday Memorial Day. Tuesday Erev Shovu’os, lines shall also be very long. I don’t want to take time off work just for waiting on line for a haircut, nor do I want to loose precious napping time for waiting on line, jeopardizing my awakeness during Shovu’os nite. Hence by necessity, this year I am observing 1st 33 days, albeit effectively, my hair & beard only being 31 days of growth this year.
April 30, 2017 9:03 pm at 9:03 pm in reply to: Comparing Sephardic and Ashkenazic Chumras and Kulot #1266429147Participantsmerel:- Just to get to the bottom line of what you are saying:- Sephardim have it easy during the 9 days {especially in 2021 & 2025 when Tisha b’Ov is for sure Sunday} but pay back exceedingly dearly just a moth later with Selichos during all o0f Ellul.
147ParticipantI wish everyone Yom ha’Atzma’ut Sameach. Out of interest:- How many of you are observing Yom ha’Atzma’ut biZemano? How many of you are following the Pesak of the Rabbanut haRoshi and observing Yom ha’Atzma’ut Nidche?
The vast majority of gedolim were either anti-Zionist or non-Zionist But not withstanding, urged everyone to go & vote, to increase Frum party representation in Knesset.
So excited about Yovel Yom Yerusholayim, jut 23 days away.
147ParticipantI comply :- 1) with the Remo and make a Benediction on my Tefillin 2) with the 1st 2 paragraphs in Tefillin which were read from the Torah this morning, kissing both my Shel Rosh & Shel Yad both times as they were being mentioned in this morning’s Keri’as haTorah.
147Participantsince the most dangerous food to eat on Pesach is matzah Because Matzo is exceedingly high in carbohydrates, and hence very detrimental for we serious weight-watchers.
Likewise in consideration of our health, our Minhog is not to eat an egg at commencement of Shulchon Oruch, in deference to watching our cholesterol levels.
147ParticipantStill made all 4 cups before Chatzos both nites, in compliance with the Remo.
147ParticipantYes both last 2 years & next 2 years on Erev Shevi’i She Pesach, but this year is the odd year out in 5 years which does not require any Eruv Tavshilin for Shevi’i Shel Pesach.
April 12, 2017 10:00 pm at 10:00 pm in reply to: April 6 1917 = WW1 does April 6 2017 = WW3, ch”v? #1253692147ParticipantNisson 14, 5677 & Nisson 10, 5777 is not 1 century to the day, so this entire topic is flawed.
147Participant“In the US, they do it on a Motzei Shabbos since most people will not be affected until Monday (and m/w they have time to get used to it).” For this same reason, in Israel clocks changer on a Friday, so people can recover from time change over Shabbos. Even the secular government knows better, not to change clock on Shabbos when people are resting, to avoid Halachic issues with adjusting clocks on Shabbos itself.
