Only if the Rabbonim agree that such a proposal is proper in light of creating a Chillul Hashem
A Chillul Hashem is only made when someone isn’t following Halacha. Unless there is some Halachic reason why someone cannot sue a municipality for damages, there is no Chillul Hashem.
December 30, 2011 5:15 am at 5:15 am in reply to: Mental disorder misdiagnosis affecting friends, shidduchim and status. #976941dash™ParticipantAny false diagnosis is bad whether it is a false positive or a false negative. Anecdotal evidence that a false diagnosis was made in a particular case is not a legitimate reason to stop diagnosing. Of course it is always important to determine what the reliability of any particular diagnosis method is to determine if the gains outweigh the risks.
dash™ParticipantThere are plenty of usabilty issues with this site:
No search functionality.
No link to older posts.
Broken RSS feed.
Some functions require logging in to a seperate login page.
No funtionality to contact a moderator or report a post.
Links aren’t allowed but are created automatically (even mailto links).
Sometimes I think these are done purposely to give experianced users an edge.
dash™ParticipantTo successfully sue the following must be proven:
That the public entity had actual or constructive notice of the dangerous condition in enough time to have corrected it before the accident.
That the measures taken by the public entity, or the failure to take any measures, in response to the dangerous condition were palpably unreasonable.
Also take into account the the judge is provided with the following guidelines:
A public entity like the defendant must constantly exercise its judgment whether to seek or to provide the resources necessary to hire personnel, buy or repair equipment, build or maintain facilities, and, in general, decide where, when and how to provide adequate governmental services. In exercising its judgment and making those choices, a public entity is frequently faced with competing demands, not all of which can be satisfied at once or perhaps at all. A public entity does not have the duty to do everything that might be done.

dash™ParticipantAre they required by law to offer loan modification? IIRC (although legislation may have changed this) the loan modificatin processes at most banks are there to keep you with them as long as possible and to persuade you not to refinance with another lender.
dash™ParticipantOn a PC just type: “

dash™Participantcan s/o pls google the address for me?? TIA
Do you think that asking for their address is going to produce a number?
dash™ParticipantYou can’t request your threads up and down at will, y’know.
Apparently he can.
dash™Participantdash and yityan, are you stalking my comments or are they just so darn interesting its hard to forget them?
No, it’s just that they were both posted in a very short timeframe. Apparently you were moving too fast at the time.
dash™ParticipantA whois search gave no information but a trademark search yeilded the following:
(REGISTRANT) The RealBeanz Corporation CORPORATION NEW YORK P.O. Box 180240 Brooklyn NEW YORK 11218
Searching the NYS DOS website gave the following 2 results:
THE REALBEANZ CORPORATION

REALBEANZ II, LLC

But is that a valid reason to deny their daughters a jewish education?
December 26, 2011 2:21 am at 2:21 am in reply to: When Parents' interests are mutually exclusive to their children's #838389dash™ParticipantAssuming both schools to be equal there is a huge benefit in being away from their home environment and having the ability to really change.
That’s a controdiction. If both schools are equal but there is a advantage to having a dormatory, than the non-dormitory school would have to have a different advantage to make up for the lack of a dormitory.
dash™ParticipantSay like for example, the child was wearing a tzilim around his neck and wouldn’t take it off in shul , esp. during an aliyah.
You’d have to explain why an 8 year old with a cross is getting an aliyah?
dash™Participantyeah, but they have parties and social gatherings at this time of year that rock, esp. if you are a kid and you clean up at every adults house tons of presents.
Didn’t you just say:
i also hate social parties. Especially the neighborly one. THis year I declined and told them sorry I am really not a social person, and prefer staying home to do the dishes.
December 25, 2011 4:55 am at 4:55 am in reply to: Floating wicks- premise, problem, solution #838673dash™ParticipantThe problem is that eventually, the cork starts absorbing the oil and gets heavy and heavier, eventually sinking into the oil and smothering the wick.
Cork has a SG of about .16 and olive oil has a SG of about .91. No matter how much oil is absorbed by the cork it will never get to a SG of higher than .91.
The solution- leave the old wick in! the tip of it will push the new wick up long enough to burn a significant time.
I have no idea what that will accomplish. (Maybe the problem is that I’m not even sure what you are suggesting.)

dash™ParticipantWhat is the name of gargamels cat? I keep hearing ezriel.
Azrael, the English equivilent of Azriel.
dash™ParticipantAdvertisement?
I’d considure it more of a testimonial based on other threads started by the OP.
dash™ParticipantOn top of that, I dont like going into department stores and seeing an electric menorah with all the light bulbs turned on.
If possible I adjust them to the correct number of lights.
dash™ParticipantInteresting thing, the original famous “Siamese Twins” were actually Chinese brothers, Chang and Eng.
I’m not sure what you mean by original. The Bunker brothers were made famous because they went on tour with P. T. Barnum. And they actually were Siamese. If they were Chinese the term would be Chinese twins.
dash™ParticipantI view food at gas stations as time savers. I never would go to a gas station just for the food.
dash™ParticipantAny ideas how a Jewish person responds to a friendly gentile acquaintance who wishes us to enjoy Chanuka?
Just wish them a Happy Hannukah in return.

December 20, 2011 2:47 am at 2:47 am in reply to: Please don't make this mistake on Chanuka! #836038dash™ParticipantPlease, why do we have to remind each other about this only on Chanuka? We light candles every Shabbos and our Shabbos candles are just as dangerous.
Bacause Shabbos candles don’t have the same halochas regarding where they have to be lit.
dash™ParticipantI’d be surprised if anyone made milk chocolate with only powdered milk. The FDA Requires that milk chocolate contain at least 3.39% milk fat and getting it all from powdered milk doesn’t make sense.
dash™ParticipantThe Gemorah there is talking about cursing a Jewish king and actually criticizes Herod. It seems that even to curse Herod would have been permisable but wasn’t done due to fear.
dash™ParticipantActually I’m just pointing out that the position that the OP claims that his Rav holds of has ramifications further than just dairy products.
I don’t think I would trust your kashrus
You shouldn’t. You don’t know anything about me.
dash™ParticipantI wouldn’t trust anyone that gave a hechsher on chalav akum mamish. There is a big difference between not using a kula and not accepting its existance.
dash™ParticipantHe holds OU-D is cholov akum mamish.
In that case how can you trust the OU for anything?
dash™ParticipantBased on inpuut numerous people it seems that 1000-1500 each side is standard “in town”.
You forgot to mention that these rates are for when the girl is younger than 22.
dash™ParticipantThey are mentioned near Tisha Beav.
dash™ParticipantYou can’t do what you want and neither should you. These are the holy streets of Yerushalayim not New Jersey!
Since when did dressing like a $5 bill to raise money/awareness for an organization get onto the list of things that can’t be done in Yerushalayim? And who maintains the list?
dash™ParticipantSo what are Walter, George, and Wilma’s full names?
dash™Participantdeleted
dash™ParticipantTown Appliance
dash™ParticipantAren’t they required to provide you with nutrition information on request?
dash™ParticipantSo, everyone has heard of a 25 year old guy marring a 19 year old girl, and thought nothing.
Or a 24 year old guy marrying a 26 year old girl.
At what point do you start wondering if everything is ok?
How about 28 year old guy and 19 year old girl?
How about 20 year old guy and 25 year old girl?
What are your cutoffs before you start snickering to yourself (and maybe to your chavrusah, just a bit)
Do a search for “Dating Pools” on XKCD.
dash™ParticipantStamamen: Like the Ramban, Yaakov only kept mitzvos in Eretz Yisroel.
But you still need to explain why this isn’t comperable to only keeping kosher in your home.
dash™ParticipantHis blog post is as about as cryptic as his music. I wouldn’t jump to any conclusions about his religiousness at this point.
dash™ParticipantBesides, once you were editing, you could have made it completely not offensive by just removing the last line, or replacing it with “you people”.
The phrase “you people” is also offensive. How many people are you trying to offend?
December 13, 2011 9:33 am at 9:33 am in reply to: vauxhall combo: most practical car in England? #834946dash™ParticipantI don’t know what you on about my combo has Windows all round
My research shows that Vauxhall doesn’t even offer this as an option and the only way to get factory installed windows is through a fleet purchase.
dash™Participant… the Litvish Lubavitch
That’s an interisting phrase, considuring that when the Baal HaTanya was studying by the Mezeritcher Magid, his colleuges referred to him as “The Litvak”.
December 13, 2011 4:42 am at 4:42 am in reply to: vauxhall combo: most practical car in England? #834944dash™ParticipantMy favorite Vauxhall is the VXR Turbo, which can really match up with the M5, CL63, and RS4, and costs much less. But I’ve never seen one in the States.
They were availible as the Pontiac G8 GXP until GM discontinued the Pontiac brand.
