No educational institution should honor someone who does not live the ideal lifestye (however they define it).

Any man who is not willing to honor their commitments as written in the Kesubah has no business getting married.

If anyone makes a statement, it is OK to question whether they have ulterior motives. (And I do mean anyone.)

One can always head over to Fort Lee, NJ bike across the GWB, down the West Side to the Brooklyn Bridge, save the tolls and still catch Maariv at the Marriot.

You’re better of taking the Bayonne Bridge, Staten Island Ferry, and Manhatten Bridge.

That is a perfect example of why I hate GPS. I discovered that trick 30 years ago and no one wised up to the stupidity, but now that every idiot can effortlessly do the bypass I have a feeling it will be stopped.

Don’t worry, these idiots are still trying to figure out how to get to Staten Island.

The Winter Solstice is always in the 11th month of the Chinese calendar so the New Year is almost always on the second new moon following the Winter Solstice. The exception being when a leap month is added after the 11th or 12th month.

Amex points are not the same as airline miles.

in reply to: cash for airline miles #845380

Technically they can’t be sold. The way around this is the broker purchases a ticket (or upgrade) for the “buyer” using your miles. As a result the miles you are selling have no shelf life and unless someone has an immediate need for the miles you won’t get a buyer. Additionally you need to have enough miles for the reward because the buyer can’t shop around for miles from multiple sources.

Unfortunately hardly anyone is buying miles because the airlines keep placing restrictions on what the miles can be redeemed for.

Titanic was not only a motion picture production. It was a real news event way back when. I’m sure the YWN was referring to the original Titanic and not to a Hollywood production.

Except for the fact that the last survivior of the Titanic died in 2009 as reported on YWN so nobody alive can make that comparison.

One is permited to Daven before the Zman. Making Havdalah before the Zman (without a candle) is a bit more complicated and IIRC it can only be done when the person cannot do it after the Zman.

Regarding Havdalah after the Zman but before the time your Minhag is to end Shabbas (unless you really follow Rabbenu Tam) you could be Yotzei if you wanted to but probably wouldn’t want to.

There are three basic rules that need to be understood first:

The order of operations in this case is first parentesis, then powers and finally multiplication.

When raising the product of 2 factors by a power, both factors need to be raised.

When muliplying the product of 2 factors by another factor, only 1 factor needs to be multiplied.

Starting with 3m^3 (which cannot be simplified) the first step is to square both 3 and m^3 giving 9m^6. The multiplication step only needs to be performed on one of the factors so we’ll just multiply 9 by 4 giving the result of 36m^6

I first came across Gershonides a couple of weeks ago…I laffed. 🙂

Philosophers are assigned Latin surnames if they don’t already have one. That way they can be referanced consistantly in other works. (I’m not sure why there is an exception for Greek philosophers.)

I’ve had 6 donuts but like spread over 4 years. How can someone physically eat that many donuts?

Today, I ate 6 krispy kreme donuts.

    I ate:

    1 original glazed

    1 chocolate frosted cake donut

    1 cinnamon bun

    1 boston creme

    1 chocolate mousse

    1 frosted blueberry

And they all tasted just fine. Exactly like cholov hacompany.

Next time be sure to try a sour creme doughnut. I don’t recall ever seeing one at DD but KK makes them.

I still haven’t figured out why nobody (that I know of) makes a Cholov Yisroel doughnut. Doughnuts are supposed to be made with milk.

The best solution at home, is to install K9 web protection,

which is free. (do a google search for it). As long as

nobody knows the password, the only way to defeat it, is to

    reinstall the operating system.

I have succsessfully uninstalled K9 Web Protection without knowing the password. It’s not that hard.

A zonah is not a paramour. That would probably be closer to the definition of pilegesh.

No a Pilegesh is a comcubine and a Noef is a paramour. I’m not sure what a Zonah is. (Although in the broadest definition Zonah could mean paramour.)

I’m just curious, by the way, where did you hear that Yosef thought they were B’nei Noach while the brothers thought they were B’nei Yisrael? I thought that was my Chiddush.

I thought it was common knowledge, based on Eiver Min HaChai. (It also makes an interisting drasha on Genesis chapter 44 where for a brief moment Yosef and Yehuda switch their views.)

And thanks for the info regarding a half sibling. I’ll have to look it up, I didn’t know that.

so that makes them a brother and sister through father only (a half sibling) which is permitted for bnei noach

First of all regardless of what was supposed to happen, Shimon and Dinah were full siblings. Secondly do you have a source that half siblings are permitted for Bnei Noach?

Anyways, only Yosef held that they were Bnei Noach, the rest of the brothers (at least the first ten, not sure about Binyamin) held that the Halachos of Bnei Yisroel applied to them.

So then should I get for all 4 wheels, or only for the drive wheels.

On a vehicle only drive wheels should have chains.

    They are size p185/ 65 R14

You’ll need chains sized specifically for your tires. Check with the manufacturer, most passenger cars require S.A.E Class “S” chains but some cannot use any chains at all. At 14″ you probably won’t find much of a variety.
