Mods: can you edit those posts? The last thing you’d want is everyone to play around with their links.

Just because a black comedian does a routine about everybody hating Monday doesn’t make it a racial slur. Likewise if a jewish comedian did the same routine it wouldn’t make it antisemetic.

@KolHaolam: BORO PARK: Klausenberger Rebbe is first Rebbe to accept invite today by Aguda to attend Siyum Ha’shas on August 1st, he will be speaking.

Do you actually believe that the Agudah doesn’t have a lineup of speakers yet? This is not the first time they’re doing this.

And are they making a press release for every speaker?

2scents, one thing I tried to do and found no work-around for, is to recover data. There is just no way to access the hard drive raw.

This isn’t an VB issue, in VB you can make any API call including those involving RawDisk and it will work if you run it on older versions of Windows. The problem is that any User Mode program has limited access to RawDisk regardless of group membership.

Now, I’m afraid it may not help to un-fry. Besides, part of the illumination (einfall in Yiddish, boy did it fall in) came through the network wires (part outdoors), I don’t think there’s a protector for that.

It’s been a while but last time I connected multiple buildings with aerial cables, I used fiber optic cables to protect the network from lightning.

Can anyone recommend a brand name, or place to purchase white shirts that stay crisp via machine wash and dry?

I buy shirts which are suppose to be no-iron – permanent press, etc.

That’s your problem. In order for a shirt to remain crisp it needs to have stiff fibers, permanent press garments are designed not to take creases by using softer fibers.

It appears that some people who are descendants from the kehilla of sanz have the minhag therefore that bochurim wear teffilin on chol hamoed but married men do not!

The minhag exists but not for this reason. The reason Tefillin is not worn by married men is Kabalistic in nature and since unmarried men aren’t involved with kabalistic issues they follow the basic Halacha.

First shut down iTunes all of the iPod related services(“Apple Mobile Device” and “iPod Service”). Connect your iPod and it should appear as another USB drive. Copy the files you want (you may have to show hidden files and folders) to the “Automatically Add to iTunes” folder. Restart the iPod related services and iTunes.

I can’t gaurantee that this method will work for all models but it does work on Every model I tried it on. Also the filenames on the iPod will not make sence but if the files are tagged properly you can read the tags.

Is there a difference between going into McDonalds to buy coffee from a local McDonalds or buying it from a McDonalds at a rest stop on the highway?

Yes. It is common to just purchase drinks or use the rest rooms at rest stops so Maras Ayin doesn’t apply.

If there are insufficient seats for everyone, the children should allow the adults to sit instead of them taking seats.

There are certain classes of people one should give up their seat for. Adults are not such a class.

There are plenty of works cleaner than Shakespeare’s. If a school beleives that a perticular work is not suitable for their students as is (Some of Shakespeare’s work will fall into this category, how many will depend on the school) they should select a different work for their cirriculum rather than attempt to fix it.

As an FYI, the problem with such a filter is that your children can simply disconnect it and reconnect the unfiltered internet.

This type of filter can usually be setup to send an alert email if it detects tampering. Also they can either be setup as fail-safe or fail-secure. In fail-safe mode all traffic is unfiltered if the filter is offline, in fail-secure mode all traffic is blocked.

You could configure your router not allow VPN by blacklisting ports. That is obviously not an option for IT people.

Outbound port blocking isn’t gererally used. Most modern VPNs aren’t tied to a specific port, many of then can make the connection through ports 80/443.

in reply to: Is there a Frum DO NOT CALL LIST? #876384

Charities and telemarketing companies must each maintain their own DNC list. While charity calls are excempt from the national DNC list, if the calls are being done by a telemarketing firm they have to checked against both the charity’s list and the telemarketer’s list. If you are called and you want them to put you on their DNC list you need to specify which list or both lists.

This only applies to calls made by a telemarketer, if the charity is calling directly they do not need to maintain a DNC list.

Is there any reason to utilize a filtering service with a monthly fee as opposed to one that costs a one-time purchase and is installed directly on your computer?

Filtering makes mores sense as a subcription based service because you are constantly using their resources and they are constantly updating their lists or algorithms.

Lets say i am running a web scraper and the filter decides to filter out a site – can u not see how that could cause a huge monetary loss. i need to deal with a plethora of new sites and correcting the filter every time is highly impractical. in addition the market moves very quickly and there have been plenty of times where huge losses would have resulted if a website had been mistakenly blocked.

Anyone in the position of running a business critical web scaper hopefully has enough sence to run it on a computer othan than the workstation used for daily work.

When was the last time a venue of this size had tickets being sold for $10?

However the Jet Blue flight attended insisted that he has no right to sit in a different seat that was provided to him before boarding, and she insisted that even though its an empty seat, and even though he asked before boarding to change his seat, somehow he is not allowed to seat on the empty seat near his parents,

The attendant was right. You can’t switch to an empty seat during boarding because it can still be assigned to another passenger. I’ve never had any trouble with my seat because I follow three rules:

    1. Book early

    2. Arrive early

    3. Be polite

I don’t always get the best seat but have never been removed from a plane.
