while i completely agree with the coverage of the lev tahor terrorists, im also wondering whether YWN asked a shaila about its portrayal of Ami, it is very rare to actually have a situation in which loshon hora is muttar (as is clear from sefer cc), especially in very public forums, what exactly is the toeles in blasting someone eleven years after the fact? and “holding accountable” is a very vague and weak justification which i highly doubt would hold up to halachic scrutiny
February 16, 2025 10:44 pm at 10:44 pm #2365391ardParticipantwould the ywn moderators either respond to my post or take down/edit the lev tahor page. at least tell us if youve asked a rav about it
February 16, 2025 10:44 pm at 10:44 pm #2365393kalte litvakParticipantAmi is very leftwing paper im not surprised what they said
February 17, 2025 11:01 am at 11:01 am #2365439yeshivaguy45ParticipantThe YWN Coffee Room is a different department than the actual articles, so if you want to contact the editor, use the contact link on the right hand side of the menu on top.
February 17, 2025 11:01 am at 11:01 am #2365664Yserbius123ParticipantYWN is right and this was discussed at the time of the Ami article. Ami is desperate to steer clear of controversy, yet equally desperate to find materiel to write on. So they promote cults like Lev Tahor and the Burka Ladies as some sort of misunderstood extra chumra.
February 18, 2025 9:11 am at 9:11 am #2365902RockyParticipantIf you hold Lev Tahor has a din of rodfim (which is very likely true) and Ami is protecting the rodef from carrying out it’s evil then Ami has joined forces with the forces of evil.
This is more than just your typical “I think your shita is krum”. We are discussing evil individuals harming others both physically and spiritually. In such cases, it is not lashon hara if everyone must do what is possible to stop them.
February 18, 2025 9:12 am at 9:12 am #2365922@fakenewsParticipantI can’t answer whether they asked a rabbi, but I would imagine they did.
Remember, if there is no rabbinical guidance there isn’t much that separates the “kosher news sites” from the major sites.February 18, 2025 9:18 am at 9:18 am #2365989ujmParticipantMishpacha and Ami are both left-wing rags; though Ami is worse.
February 18, 2025 9:18 am at 9:18 am #2365991ardParticipantyeshivaguy- ok thanks, a moderator did defend the article in the comments section though
yserbius-again, ywn may be right but that is not a heter for loshon hora
February 18, 2025 9:37 am at 9:37 am #2366098GadolHadofiParticipantard,
It’s just as critical for YWN readers to know that they can’t trust anything that “rabbi Oscar Mayer” prints in his rag, as to know that Lev Yahor is a murderous and abusive cult.
February 18, 2025 11:55 pm at 11:55 pm #2366585ardParticipantgadol and rocky do you guys happen to be rabbis? have you ever even learned sefer chofetz chaim? i want a RAV to mattir it before ywn posts something like that
February 20, 2025 3:53 pm at 3:53 pm #2366737Menachem ShmeiParticipantArd, did you ask a rav before starting this lashon harah thread blasting YWN? Just curious.
February 20, 2025 3:54 pm at 3:54 pm #2367299GadolHadofiParticipantard,
How pious of you!
When are you going to demand the name of the RAV who permitted “rabbi Oscar Mayer” to whitewash a murderous cult? Have you ever even learned sefer chofetz chaim about the obligation to protect Jewish lives through speech, quite literally in this case?

I was aiming for a bit of each with a sprinkle of wishful thinking. -
