I have a small request to make. There are some posters who write things in yiddish and hebrew which is fine with me but there are some that don’t understand much of these languages. Therefore, I am requesting that when someone writes in yiddish or hebrew if they can kindly translate what they have said afterwards. I don’t like missing out on things that posters have written.

    Thank you all in advance:)

2cents- if its only one word then I usually can figure it out by context but when its an entire phrase or an entire post, its difficult to do that. Not to mention the fact that I assume it wouldn’t be too hard for the poster to translate so there would/should be no need for me to google translate it.

    Thanks everyone:)

Senior, Seniora o Seniorita;Jothar; Si. Pero yo quiero escribar en Hebreo o el Judio, tambien. Solamente hai que traducir de las otras idiomas al Ingles. (I think this is more than you bargained for.)

Here goes the translation; In response to your question/ request, that posts be written in Spanish, I wrote that I like to post in Hebrew or Yiddish, too. The only requirement is that it be translated to English.

Jothar; I’ll answer in English. Your syntax is not the greatest. It is obvious that your Spanish is not “Natural”. “Pimsler” and all the other language programs can’t replace learning a language “Naturally”. i.e. Learning from interacting with the natives. I have lived ( and went to school) in a Spanish-speaking country in South America for Three and a half years.

So German has two names? Yiddish and German??

I am sure that you are aware of the basic history of yiddish and the reason why some Jews speak yiddish and NOT German.

Metrodriver, my 33 lessons of spanish can’t replace 3 years of living in south america. But give me another 6 months when I get to lesson 100 and read the “beyond beginner’s spanish” book I saw on Amazon.

Pimsleur audio tapes are definitely better than book learning, and I heartily recommend the Pimsleur Hebrew series for someone who wants to learn spoken Hebrew.
