This November for the first time in ages I’ll not be running for election/reelection in municipal elections.
I shall continue to serve my community as an appointed member of town boards and commissions.
Elected politics has gotten so partisan and divided in the USA that many of us incumbents have opted out. Mine is not a paid position and the current office holders no longer serve for the betterment of the community, but the supremacy of party and personal gain.
My voice will not fall silent. I shall continue to speak out at town meetings and write letters to the editor. I shall work with local residents for the good of the whole.
I do not hide my political beliefs (which when applied to the citizenry of the country are different from frumkeit which applies to me). I am a social Liberal and fiscal conservative Democrat. I am horrified by the sense of white entitlement being expressed since the Nov. 2016 elections. Our town’s R majority has set civil rights back 50+ years in certain policies they have adopted. Going after Blacks, Hispanics, Muslims and South Asians is the first step, I fear if unchecked Jews will also be targets.
All of us must band together to protect the rights of all Americans or suffer the consequences.
Time to get off my soapbox…thanks for listening.
