August 27, 2010 4:51 pm at 4:51 pm #1109040AinOhdMilvadoParticipantI would never put a “witch” singer on my top 3 list!
I think witches should be burned at the stake!
Personally, I am a huge fan of Yosef Karduner and Adi Ran.
August 27, 2010 5:00 pm at 5:00 pm #1109041apushatayidParticipantWitch singers? Are these the folks who provide the musical entertainment while the witch doctor does his thing?
August 27, 2010 5:01 pm at 5:01 pm #1109042areivimzehlazehParticipantMy fav singers are not usually “witch”es 😉 You may want to edit spelling in the title of this thread?
Choosing only 3 is hard, but as of now it stands at:
1- avraham fried
2- shloime daskal
3- mbd
**EDIT** oops- I see another poster cought the spelling already, sorry.
August 27, 2010 5:13 pm at 5:13 pm #1109043apushatayidParticipantCought? 🙂
August 27, 2010 5:34 pm at 5:34 pm #1109044artchillParticipantAccording to Rav Amnon Yitzchak all “WITCH SINGERS” are really “SNAKE CHARMERS” who have no chailek in Olam Haba.

Burning at the stake is not one of the four methods by which Jews administer death penalties.

2. Chazzan Y. Y. Stark
3. Chazzan Y. Lemmer

i like the old
abish brodt,
yonasan schwartz
shwekey- the older ones
August 30, 2010 4:04 pm at 4:04 pm #1109061bptParticipantShloima Carelbach (No, I did not mean to write ShLOMO)
Lipa
Matisyahu.
All 3 were /are innovators and shook up the music world as we knew it. Plus, they reach an audience that others either miss or overlook
August 31, 2010 8:44 pm at 8:44 pm #1109062ChossonMemberEasy One:
1) Mordechai Ben David
He has everything a singer should have; a) A VOICE, he has such a rich, electrical (i.e. energetic) voice that he has the ability to turn a simple tune into a hit (i.e. Moshiach). b) SONGS, he has some of the nicest songs ever to be had in contemporary chassidic music. c) MUSIC, some of his tapes have unbeleivably beautiful musical arrangments (i.e. Neshama, Let my people go,etc. etc. d) PERFORMANCE SKILLS, I think that in this respect it’s undisputed that he is the king of concert. The grace and agility with which he dances and moves is surreal!!!!

September 1, 2010 9:51 pm at 9:51 pm #1109070ChossonMemberI think the CB trio that he mentioned, refers to 3 kids that sang by a wedding in Boro Park last week.
Is that correct, d a?
September 1, 2010 10:41 pm at 10:41 pm #1109071smartcookieMemberChosson- so which singer are you having at your wedding?

If you read what I wrote,
3. cb1’s younger two brothers (they sang beautifully at their uncle’s chasunah recently!)
you would see, I wrote cb1’s younger two brothers. I didn’t say anything about a CB trio…
And no, the wedding was not last week…
September 2, 2010 2:06 am at 2:06 am #1109073smartcookieMemberDa are you related to cb1?
September 2, 2010 2:40 am at 2:40 am #1109074HashemLovesMeMemberi don’t know how i left out shloime dachs either. he’s tied w/ baruch levine. there. now my list is complete.

September 2, 2010 1:13 pm at 1:13 pm #1109078theprof1ParticipantThere are 3 categories of Jewish music with basically one singer heading each.
1. Shlomo Carlebach type music – #1 singer Shlomo Carlebach
2. MBD music – #1 singer Mordechai Ben David
3. Everything else – #1 singer Avrohom Fried
Avramele Fried once said. A singer like MBD comes only once in a generation….. But WHY in MY generation?????
September 2, 2010 7:06 pm at 7:06 pm #1109079cb1Memberda i dont know where my older brother comes in as he is not a singer but thanks and my favorites are myself, the shwekey brothers, and gabay/levine they both tie it and of course the Yeshiva Boys Choir

November 4, 2015 11:03 am at 11:03 am #1109083crgoParticipantbpt – “All 3 were /are innovators and shook up the music world as we knew it. Plus, they reach an audience that others either miss or overlook”
Do you automatically like their music best because of that? I assumed the question to mean whose songs/singing do you like the best.
