Does anyone who uses Windows 10 have any opinions to share?

I am using Win 8.1 with Classic Shell to make it more like Windows 7.

Does anyone have have experience going from Win8.x with something like Classic Shell to Win 10?

I’m thinking of upgrading, wondering if it’s worth it.

Win 10 is awesome. Been using it since the beta. The upgrade process was seamless for me. It took about 30 min and went flawlessly.

Maybe this link will help – http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/windows-10-opinions.

So far I’ve encountered two of my programs that aren’t compatible with Windows 10.

Windows 10 does not interface well with many programs yet !! And IF you update to windows 10, you CANNOT go back to windows 8 WITHOUT paying for the download which cost over 100.

FYI, while I was having a laptop repaired, the guys at the Geek Squad at best buy, told me NOT to download windows 10.

They told me that tons of customers are coming in, having problems with their programs once they have downloaded windows 10.

They told me to wait at least 6 months, come back and ask them if the bugs regarding program interfacing, have been ironed out.

Thank you all for your responses.

I think I’ll stay with 8.1 with classic shell for now.

If you only use regular programs, it may be worthwhile to change to W10, but before you do, you should make an image of your computer using some kind of software like Acronis. Then if you do encounter problems, you can just put your image back on the computer. It’s like formatting the hard drive but with all of your software already in place. The only thing that will be missing will be any files you created from the time you install W10 until you put the image on. I copy over any directories that might have such files onto external storage.

I’ve had it for a few months now. No problems and I haven’t encountered any software that doesn’t work with it. It also isn’t that different

After you upgrade to W10 you have 30 days to revert back to 7 or 8.1 without reformatting or reimaging

With a four core high speed non magnetic coflacter and after downloading 6S3.4 to your blackberry you should be able to use W10 as a primary core cometandic proccessor.

    You’re Welcome

I have installed Windows 10 on three different computers and have had no trouble. The installation went very smoothly, no program fails to work, and the performance is actually better.

I have to salute Microsoft for doing a great job on this.

Call me an old timer or any other epithet.. I find Windows XP (sp3) to be the peak, the pinnacle of Microsoft’s invention of the GUI operating system. Every system since is a decline, one worse then the previous.

I’ve followed every version since Windows1!! Most in the line were some sort of step forward somewhat, some were complete disasters (ME), being in a rush to develop a something while skipping over major, important areas. XP is the most versatile, useful system for work, home, (play r”l), business, etc. Everything “klaps”, neat, organized.

Then, in their quest to ‘modernize’, they came out with the next ones, Vista (another disaster), the twenty or so variations of Windows 7, and then the major failure of Windows 8.

They have completely done away with the concept of using a computer for work!! Today’s systems are solely geared for entertainment, media and play. Three dimension, four dimension… realistic.. virtual.. live.. animated… More and more, faster and faster, bigger and bigger, clearer and clearer.. to hear, see and feel the movie with all the body and soul.

So in their quest to outdo themselves, they have failed the working sector big time. FAILED.. FAILED.. FAILED..

LF, I just want to say that I agree with you about Windows XP. I loved it. My husband loved it also and we were just too afraid of all the bad reports about Vista (thank goodness we didn’t try that) to switch. Then we bought new hardware that was not compatible with XP anymore and we were forced to look into what was out there. What we found out was that Windows 8(!?) whichever version, is also junk, but Windows 7 is actually pretty good. We switched over to that and, except for a few annoying messages that I get about administrator permissions and such, I am very happy. I have a very nice taskbar and every window that is open shows up down there, not just the pinned ones. They show up all the time and I can just open them with a click. If it’s a running program, it shows up at the end of the line (or is it the beginning). You do have to get used to the pictures on the taskbar rather than any words about what program it is (was it like that with XP???), but other than that, I’m very happy. No problems with running programs at this point. I have the Ultimate version and it’s very good. You should think about that as an option. I’m not sure how long it will take to get any bugs in Windows 10 fixed, no matter how good of a program it is.

LF: XP is no longer receiving security updates, so it the dark side discovers a hole, Microsoft won’t plug it anymore and it will leave the system vulnerable.

LF & N: Are you both in IT?

I’ve NEVER used updates. SP3 is pretty good. Never needed plugging, patching, ‘fixing’, etc. (except one mini

I am, unfortunately, an IT sort of person. I must deal with whatever Microsoft decides to throw at us. No, not at all impressive.

If you don’t install the updates, how are you protected from zero-day vulnerabilities? Hacks are discovered every week that allows bad actors to hijack unpatched systems.

    LF,

Like you, I also need my computer for work. Windows 8 is a bad imitation of Apple. Apple computers have always been toys, except for maybe graphic designers.

Right on!! My computer, as you can verily see, is still working, not hacked, hijacked, busted or been taken over. No, I don’t and never went for these ‘patches’ thing, that completely takes over your computer and valuable time (please wait… don’t shut off your computer.. wait one hour.. or day..) It’s not broke – needs no ‘fixing’.

One more thing.. Microsoft seemed always to excel in toys and play things.. I remember one of the first products of Microsoft – the (5 1/4″ floppy disk) flight simulator. Years later the very important train simulator.. How I wish they get some serious people, with NORMAL minds into that company. I seem to recall an article years ago, with Mr Gates on the floor plugging a musical keyboard into a computer contraption he invented. Real Chochmah is taking something and making real, practical, useful use out of it.

You have to use google’s NON-restranding internal folders to search their perflective files to come up with the software capable of transponding 6S3.4 to your Blackberry’s primary processor.

Also make sure your Blackberry has a four core high speed non magnetic coflacter. The information should be on the back of the phone underneath the battery in the battery chamber.

    You’re Welcome again

I just googled the word “coflacter” because I didn’t believe it was a real word, and only two pages came up. The first was this thread, and the second was a page in Spanish.

    I don’t think coflacter is a word.

    Meno,

No, and neither is “cometandic.” I’m waiting for B1g B0y to tell 2scents that he needs to move his brefentic processor to the cloud so he can install the correct flux capacitor in order to install W10 through the tractor beam.

Moving/updating your brefentic proccessor to the cloud would result in highly pendasting collumns and overload almost any basic phone.

I set my taskbar properties to “combine when full” which shows the running programs with their names, not just icons, and even has separate ones for each open file (until the taskbar is full at least). Once you have that, I find the Windows 7 taskbar to be perfect. I love the jump lists of pinned and recent files. Unfortunately, Windows 10 has mutilated this functionality a bit. I have to try out Classic Shell to see if it brings it back to the Windows 7 version.
