Mods have jobs and family responsibilities, and don’t always have the time to volunteer to moderate someone’s website for free.

I am not a mod. Baruch Hashem shelo asani mod. If I was, I’d have to take responsibility for what goes on here. I have enough gehinnom as is.
My rav makes a bracha that he isn’t the mashgiach of a pesach hotel, and doesn’t have to take responsibility for what goes on there.
Jothar, you make it sound like being a mod is a sucker’s job. So why does everyone want to be a mod?

A serious talmid of Rav Avigdor Miller ZT”L would understand that we still thank Hashem for “hamotzi lechem min ha’aretz” even though man seemingly did all the work planting, plowing, harvesting, etc. So too, Hashem “makes” mods even though the mods appear to do the hard work.
I think they should moderate machloikus. The consequences are much greater than online security. I know it’s not easy to state what you think and have someone take an opposing view, but this is the lifestyle we have chosen.
