Since the new coalition (a right wing coalition, the left wing is sitting this out) plans to serious attempt to cripple the yeshiva world, will this change things. Will many yeshivos that were friendly about the 5th of Iyar, and even fly the Israeli flag, be treating it differently? Will many of those who took part in festivities make a point of ignoring it? Will the handful who protested, be joined by large numbers? Seeing what happens next week will give a good indication if the current “tumult” is a passing storm, or the beginning of a revolution.

Because this year, even the Shas party has come out strongly in favor of maintaning the haTikva the way it is.

Who wants to cripple the Yeshiva world?

I heard that the charedim want all secular and dati folk to wear a black hat AND a sweater all day, every day. It’s hidden in one of the budget bills.

On the contrary, as Rav Lior said this will strengthen the yeshiva world and the Chareidi community in general. The yeshivot and kollelim will return to being elite institutions to the benefit of real learners and those that can’t learn full-time will have socially acceptable alternatives.
