Just curious you know. Like , when I am walking in the snow, and I get thinking about things. i thought why are horses always lean?
interesting no?
January 19, 2012 3:52 am at 3:52 am #849179OneOfManyParticipantI think they walk a lot.
January 19, 2012 3:54 am at 3:54 am #849180sternbergerMemberim cracking up.. so random …

January 19, 2012 4:02 am at 4:02 am #849181sternbergerMemberwait wait wait… u have snow?????? lucky!!!!!!
January 19, 2012 4:06 am at 4:06 am #849182yitayningwutParticipantOn the subject of horses, I once had a rebbi who saw me walking with a Polo – Ralph Lauren shirt that had the little horse emblem on it. He looks at me and says, “Ahem. I see the ferd is outside the shirt today.” (I do not have a lot of respect for him, but hey – a good line is a good line!)
January 19, 2012 4:07 am at 4:07 am #849183WIYMemberAlways
Isn’t it obvious? They take those $250 Brazilian diet pills!
January 19, 2012 4:10 am at 4:10 am #849184skiaddictMemberyitay- haha thats a good one love it!
January 19, 2012 4:17 am at 4:17 am #849185OneOfManyParticipantWIY: lol
yitayningwut: I hope this isn’t a dumb question, but what’s a ferd?
January 19, 2012 4:26 am at 4:26 am #849186yitayningwutParticipantYiddish for horse. It’s akin to calling someone a wild animal.
Thanks ski 🙂
January 19, 2012 4:44 am at 4:44 am #849187HealthParticipantARWSF -“i thought why are horses always lean?”
And I think that most are obese. Most don’t spend all day at the racetrack, but lounging around in the pasture -chomping away.
Maybe you get fooled by where their belly is. When they are fat -it hangs down, not like us humans where it sticks out for e/o to notice!
January 19, 2012 4:47 am at 4:47 am #849188OneOfManyParticipantLol, that’s good.
January 19, 2012 4:49 am at 4:49 am #849189yitayningwutParticipant🙂
January 19, 2012 5:05 am at 5:05 am #849190☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWhy have I never seen an overweight horse?
The reason some people are obese is because although they should eat like a person, they eat like a horse. This is not a problem for a horse.
January 19, 2012 5:27 am at 5:27 am #849191always runs with scissors fastParticipantHealth, maybe you’re right. But they look very muscular.
January 19, 2012 5:36 am at 5:36 am #849192OneOfManyParticipantI just googled “obese horse,” and there are all these random sites with photos of horses that they say are obese, but don’t look fat at all. Maybe that’s why.
January 19, 2012 5:45 am at 5:45 am #849193WIYMemberDY
Horses eat oats hay, grass…these things wouldn’t make people fat. The hay and grass would make us sick but oats are healthy and filling.
We get fat from eating too much and from eating junk food.
January 19, 2012 5:54 am at 5:54 am #849194☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWIY,
Google “eat like a horse”.
January 19, 2012 5:55 am at 5:55 am #849195HealthParticipantWIY – Too much carbs will make anyone fat, even horses.
January 19, 2012 6:03 am at 6:03 am #8491962qwertyParticipantDitto for all the other animals! The only exceptions maybe where humans interfered.
I know people will mention elephants, whales, and so on but i dont think they are overweight in comparison to each other they are just built that way.
January 19, 2012 6:11 am at 6:11 am #849197chocandpatienceMemberyitayningwut: isn’t ferd more like an idiot rather than a wild animal?
January 19, 2012 8:57 am at 8:57 am #849198amichaiParticipantthey dont just run around, they also carry pple on their backs, can you imagine running with a few sacks of potatoes on your back?
January 19, 2012 11:46 am at 11:46 am #849199ToiParticipantyouve never seen my shvigger.
January 19, 2012 12:13 pm at 12:13 pm #849200Shticky GuyParticipantLol. This guy went to his doctor and complained that he eats like a horse, drinks like a fish, works like a dog, is as blind as a bat, as busy as a beaver, as gentle as a lamb, as quiet as a mouse, as stubon as a mule and sweats like a pig. The doctor replied that he should go and see a vet!

Ha
January 19, 2012 3:57 pm at 3:57 pm #849202BTGuyParticipantBecause my mother in law does not live in your town.
(jk….i dont have a mother in law yet, and if I did, I would never say that…)
January 19, 2012 7:17 pm at 7:17 pm #849203yitayningwutParticipantChocandpatience – To the best of my knowledge, no.
January 19, 2012 7:27 pm at 7:27 pm #849204OneOfManyParticipantUrban Dictionary
Ferd
(noun)
2. Any individual who displays a significant lack of intelligence, logic, or comprehension of fact or reason.
(Other definitions left out deliberately.)
January 19, 2012 7:29 pm at 7:29 pm #849205ShrekParticipantthey don’t wear tight clothes, so how can anyone tell if horses are overweight?
January 19, 2012 7:40 pm at 7:40 pm #849206Lechayim120MemberFYI – Horses are not obese because they have a lot of muscle. I think this topic is a waste of time and not worthy of a discussion.
January 19, 2012 7:45 pm at 7:45 pm #849207bptParticipantYou have seen overweight horses.
Its the black saddle that makes them look 10 lbs lighter
January 19, 2012 7:56 pm at 7:56 pm #849208BTGuyParticipantIf horses are not overweight, then how do they get saddlebags?
January 19, 2012 8:44 pm at 8:44 pm #849210yitayningwutParticipantOneOfMany – LOL I don’t think they are referring to the Yiddish word ferd, pronounced feh-rd, but to another word that rhymes with nerd (and word, for that matter). I’m going to enter it into UD now, should go up within a day or so. Will spell it fehrd.
January 19, 2012 8:53 pm at 8:53 pm #849211always runs with scissors fastParticipantBT you are actively seeking to get married? How old are you? WOuld you like any leads?
January 19, 2012 9:04 pm at 9:04 pm #849212BTGuyParticipantHi arwsf.
First of all, that is super nice and thoughtful of you to ask.
Sure, leads would be welcome.
What do you suggest?
And how could such info be made less public so it’s not on an overweight horse thread? lol
January 19, 2012 9:04 pm at 9:04 pm #849213BaalHaboozeParticipantthis thread reminds me of those bizarre places in cyberspace which you sometime end up in but have no idea how on earth you ever got there…
January 19, 2012 9:10 pm at 9:10 pm #849214OneOfManyParticipantOh, that makes sense. I was thinking that “furred” didn’t sound much like Yiddish.
January 20, 2012 2:33 am at 2:33 am #849215always runs with scissors fastParticipantbaalhabooze, your comment is the funniest thing I’ve read all day.
Lets do a reality show. Did you plan that statement, like accurately aiming at how funny it’d be, or it just came out like that?
January 20, 2012 2:34 am at 2:34 am #849216always runs with scissors fastParticipantBT, I would never suggest a shidduch that was an issue of overweight horses. LOL
January 20, 2012 3:07 am at 3:07 am #849217WIYMemberHealth
” WIY – Too much carbs will make anyone fat, even horses.”
That’s a myth. Carbs only make you fat if you know what they are and you care about them hence they can’t make horses fat. (This is not a scientifically proven fact)
January 20, 2012 3:10 am at 3:10 am #849218WIYMemberChocandpatience
” yitayningwut: isn’t ferd more like an idiot ratherthana wildanimal?”
Ferd is short for Ferdinand.
January 20, 2012 6:43 am at 6:43 am #849219OneOfManyParticipantWIY: Apparently “ferd” means more than one thing.
January 20, 2012 9:26 am at 9:26 am #849220NechomahParticipantAlways runs, I should have known that you started this thread. I was laughing so hard I was crying. DY and Shticky, your comments are +10000. Sooooo funny!.
BTGuy – I sure hope the shidduch suggestions that Always can have for you are better than a fat horse!!LOL!
January 20, 2012 2:42 pm at 2:42 pm #849221WIYMemberOneofmany
That was a joke. Although it may be true.
January 20, 2012 4:40 pm at 4:40 pm #849222BTGuyParticipantHi arwsf.
That is a relief. Actually, it’s what is on the inside that counts. One cannot hide what’s underneath the hide….or something like that…lol
Hi Nechomah.
Well, if arwsf goes through NASI, such a match would be too expensive anyway. YIKES! lol
January 20, 2012 8:44 pm at 8:44 pm #849223squeakParticipantBecause if there was such a thing as fat horses and skinny horses, Paroah’s dream would not have needed cows.
January 20, 2012 9:17 pm at 9:17 pm #849224Bar ShattyaMemberAs it happens there are those who call me a fat horse. go figure.
January 22, 2012 3:40 am at 3:40 am #849225always runs with scissors fastParticipantBTguy if you ask the mods for my email, I am going to give them permission to release it to you for shidduchim purposes.
